Pretty much!

I don't really have much experience with this kind of thing, but I love seeing our girl with other dogs. That said, we don't let her just go and run around with strangers in the park and that kind of thing, I hear to many bad things on here and from friends experiences at different places to do that with her. Call me paranoid. We take her out with us when/where ever we can and all our friends have dogs, she has known them since she was 16 weeks old. They don't play rough (though when she was a tiny pup she used to "beat them up") they mainly just play fetch and tug, even now she is nearly as big as them their play hasn't changed. All still respond to us when we call them and it's in a controlled environment at our houses. I let her go and have "playdates" as often as I can, she gets the biggest grin and satisfied look on her face when she is around them and I just love seeing her so

We just, well 2 weeks ago enrolled our girl into a juvenille "transition" class at Murdoch Tafe. It's on a Saturday and depending on what you're there for (puppy, adult refresher etc) spreads out from about 12 I think it is. Goes for 8 weeks I think. You can contact the tafe for details We haven't done to much with her since Puppy School and so before we joined an actual dog club we'd do this as a refresher more so for us as she is pretty up to speed with things so we don't feel like idiots when we take her somewhere for further obedience things.

Oh yay Golden Rules.... You can meet my Westrova pup then I am really excited to do this with her, I think she'll love it. She can also be quite hyper so thats all good. She will be coming along with her Cavalier friend Poppy!

Hey everyone. I have actually just been doing some googling on the whole tracking thing and what should pop up - here! Whhhyyyy didn't I look here sooner!? Anyways, my friend and I are interested in joining our girls up. Would 6 months be to early to start her?? We are also going to head to the training day intro on the 27th March to check it out

Oooh Hug how cute is she in her little jacket! That is adorable. Our girl loooves the water. The second day of having her home she started the digging in the water bowl trick and so now she has her clam pool. She isn't a huge fan of the beach but she is getting better with each visit. As long as it's a flat calm day she is ok. The first time she went out of her depth she almost sunk but then she just started to paddle and the grin on her face when she came out the water was priceless. She then did it a few more times as if to say, hey look at me, look what I'm doing! before it got a litte to wavey for her.

I Weims!! So annoyed I am already booked up that night! I have a random question and please don't judge me on this but does anyone know where you can take your pets, well dogs to get a photo with Santa??? A friend and I are tempted to smuggle our dogs into a shopping center for a quick pic but I have a feeling it may not be as simple as walking in *take picture* walk out.

How horrible. We're lucky - there is a bulldog puppy directly behind us and when Ella has her little whinge in the morning he joins in but she gets over it after about 5-10 mins and when she shuts up so does he. But at night time they must let him sleep outside as he starts about 10 for a good hour. She doesn't seem fazed by it at all which is good. And a German Shepherd to our left who must know when our cats are in their outside run (no idea how - they dont make noise) and he barks at the fence at them but thats all. A Shut Up gets him quiet. I hope your situation improves soon in regards to that.

Hello Agree with what GL said as well :p With our girl we set her crate up in our bedroom. We plan on letting her sleep in our room (but hoping not on the bed though our track record with past dogs = that will most likely not stick ) so we set her crate up there and then she is also close to us and we can hear her movements. For the first 3 nights we got up around 1.30-2 when she started whinging and moving around lots for toilet but she sleeps through now till about 5 which works out well as OH gets up for work then. Her bedtime is when we go to bed and last night was the first night she went with Nooooo noises what so ever. It only lasts for about 5 mins when she does anyway. But stay strong with it like Serket said - Ella has this one noise that just breaks my heart!!!!! Her routine stands with breakfast from about 7-8 depending on when we're all up. Lunch is from 12-1 (but is slowly being adjusted to no lunch as we're at work) and Dinner is when the cats get theres which after we have ours so from 5-7 but I have been doing it at 6 as I've had time off work and been organised. She isn't to fussed and it's only in the mornings she runs over to where her bowl goes and sits and waits for it. She already knows sit and has to do so before I put down her bowl. We take her out to toilet within 10mins of her waking up from a nap or having dinner but already she is getting better with toileting as will wait by the back door. She has even started going only in her designated area. We say "go wees" and she is starting to respond with that and runs to a certain spot to go. I love her - I swear she is a child genius!! (puts proud Mum hat on) She gets outside morning and afternoon "alone" time as now I'm back to work she has to get used to it. She loves it, when we're not out there - I stop her from rolling in the wet patches (from the rain) or destroying what is left of my failed attempt at a garden bed (me + gardening = disaster) And even inside we give her "alone" time (we have blocked off our passages so she has access into lounges/dining and kitchen which has all been puppy proofed and no go areas blocked also in that area) so she can learn we're not the main source of entertainment. When she is bigger and able, she will get walked in the morning when we all get up and also at night when I get home from work but otherwise same kind of thing. And we do have lots of playtime and started to get onto training. Thats pretty much all from us. She has just settled so well, we didn't really need to think of the routine though I had stressed weeks before making sure I had food lists and a schedule and everything else. And then we got her home and it all fell into place.

I am sure they will. My OH just txtd me a pic of Aussie and Ella playing (finally) he must be so happy to have a playmate as the older cat doesn't play so much and he quite active and playful.

Hi Snowball. My biggest worry about getting our Pup was our cats. We have 2, a 5 year old girl I got about 3 years ago when I first moved out of home and a year old boy we got November last year. Neither had anything to do with dogs before (or that I am aware of, my girl was a rescue) and when we moved into our house, we set up a kitty room (crazy I know but they're indoor cats.....) and thats where their beds and food etc goes. We blocked our hallway off with a baby gate and that gives them the whole back of the house and their room as their own space so luckily we didn't have rehoming/moving things issues. Before we brought pup home we borrowed some friends dogs who are good with cats so they could see/smell and get used to a dog being around and so when Ella came home they were not overally interested in her, just confused I think when she stayed overnight and didn't go home. We also got some Feliway to try and get them in a relaxed state of mind pre-puppy. Anyways, I would move the food. Cats like feeling secure so maybe move it up high or out of sight where they will not be bothered by Pup running around/trying to get to them/food. Thankfully Ella has been an angel with them and after a few hisses from my older girl she stays away from her and the other one is so close to playing with her. You can tell he wants to, he just isnt a 100% as the other one just stays away from her and vice versa. I am also crate training pup and at night when she is crated they can still free roam the house aka their territory in peace. Every morning my girl cat used to come for cuddles before I had brekky so I am keeping with her routine and thats when Ella gets her morning brekky outside. So far everyone has been getting along great. With his bed in the lounge can you move it onto say a cofee table or something where Pup wont be able to get into to. Trust me they will get into EVERYTHING!! if it's a little higher he should be happy with that (cats love being up high) or just block it off like a fire guard around it (first thing that popped in my mind) but then he might feel a little caged and upset. Hm...... Maybe move it somewhere new now so he can also adjust to that?? Not sure about your kitty but with mine they know their beds and as long as they're the only ones in it/been on it, they don't care where it gets moved to as long as they stick to their own. Otherwise my older girl gets a little defensive. Sorry, I hope it helps, I kind of rambled along there!! edit- Bad spelling mistakes!!

Hi Everyone, I have posted a whole bunch in the GR thread but since she is so gorgeous I thought I would show her off in here as well! Somewhere there - couple hours old. Getting a little bigger..... And suddenly she is a full grown puppy coming home!! *sigh* They grow up so fast!!!

I brought a book called Quick and Easy Crate Training off ebay and found it great. Sums it up really simple and once I had an understanding of it went on a few sites and read into it abit more. :rolleyes: Plus this place is always great for any questions!
