I am in Perth and not really much help but I work for a Tafe over here and we provide a few different courses, some acredited and some for general learning from Pet First Aid, Obedience/Training, Animal Companion Courses, Grooming (hobby and professional).... so maybe try a local tafe?! All I got sorry and hope it helps!

That's great you reported them. I keep telling everyone I know if they see horrible things TELL SOMEONE to try and get it fixed, not come to me and whinge about it!! That's not helping anyone at all and just makes me mad! I really hope the RSPCA can/will do something - poor kittens, hopefully you'll all be cleaned up soon!

Our girl is outside while we're at work. If the weather is meant to be horrible (hot/storms etc) I leave her inside and we know she just sleeps all day. Otherwise on outside days, she has our patio and her kennel for cover and before I let her outside I hide treats around the yard to keep her busy and she has her kong and some other bits and bobs to amuse herself with if she decides she can't sleep anymore than what she does. Our yard is fenced, and the front gate is super secure (last owners made it into a fort - lucky for us) and ew know she can't get out anywhere. I also walk her in the morning before I leave and then at night OH and I take her for a walk again. She is fine, never had any complaints of noise or anything! (have checked with neighbours - one didn't even know we had a dog!!) Maybe just test him, like set him outside and then "leave" but sneak back in to see what he does?? We have done this is a couple of times when we first started to leave her alone and we know her routine is find all her treats, play with the kong, go to the loo then if it's a cooler day curls up on her bed or stretches out in the sun for a nap!! Everytime without fail

When I first looked at this topic I just spent the last 5-10mins reading through the old topic hoping to see Jed's story on the "Lithuanian Goat Catching Retriever" and I am so glad it was posted again here. I loved it. I am still very new to the dog world and trying to learn more and more and while it was very much in laymen terms, it made perfect sense and was clear and so easy to understand. All I want to say to Jed is and thankyou for reposting it!

To All You Fellow Dog Owners - Do You Also Own A Cat?
Jenni87 replied to Abigail's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have to black and white DSH kitties, both adopted from a local shelter ... Princess Tyra (6) and Aussie (2) Miss Tyra has a love/hate relationship with our pup, Ella learnt her place first day home but now she is getting bigger she is testing the boundaries which Ty makes sure she knows are still there. They have a love/hate relationship, she was the same way when we brought Aussie home. When she thought no one was around she'd play/groom/nap with him and then after catching them out a few times she gave him and did it openly.... bet the same thing will happen. She acts all tough and stuff but she isn't. Aussie loves Ella. They always nap together and have little plays but Ella forgets she isn't the same size and he jumps over the baby gates to have time out if she gets to rough and tumble for him. Sadly I have yet to catch a decent photo of them together but here are my two :D Aussie Tyra -
This is disgusting. I know the world and some people are pretty... messed up but with every horrible article or story like this, it makes me feel ill. Seriously, what world do we live in where people can do this? I feel so angry and sickened and that poor poor family. ;) :D :D Enjoy your new world pups.

7 Year Old Girl Mauled In Central Coast Shopping Centre
Jenni87 replied to samoyedman's topic in In The News
I just saw the news poll on my way to check my email and saw it and then read the article. All I can think is -
That is adorable!!! I just want to give them cuddles!

Thanks everyone. Megan, that does make sense as it would seem to be rewarding the behaviour. Maybe that's what started it off. I had suggested the pheremone stuff. We've used feliway on the cats but we were going to see how she goes but thanks GR that would be awesome!

Hey everyone I am after some help, well advice. My parents have just bought home their new adopted dog, Satan (who they are renaming Sadie) and she is a 2 year old Toy Poodle X. They got her from a rescue and the family thought it would be the best interest of her to be rehomed as she was not fitting in at her old place. They had 3 other dogs, 4 young children (under 12) and would often just go hide. Loud noises scare her and she is very timid/shy. Anyway, their other dog, was also a rescue from the same kind situation and needed the quiet life also so they decided to give this girl a chance since Poppy has come in leaps and bounds to the dog she was when she first came home (she didn't play at all, didn't like to be picked up and c But yeah, back on topic. She is extremely shy and timid. She gets along fine with Poppy and isn't showing any agression at all, she is just very unsure. It's only been 24 hours but they've never dealt with a dog like this and like my Mum said, hopes to do the right thing rather than make her any worse. Long story short, any tips on settling her in and some advice on what they can do to try and help get over her fears and come out of her shell. TIA

Yeah I think afternoon naps are on my Saturday schedules. I think I'm crazy for doing this tracking thing. I have to be up by 5.45 ready to leave by 6.15!! I fail as a morning person perhaps I should set the alarm for 5.30 actually and snooze a couple times!
-
Yup! I printed the form off from the website all filled out ready to go. I saw from masons mum that you need to be there at 730 to sign up as well.
-
Yay you know the answers to all my questions *hugs* Thanks!! See you tomorrow!
-
Cool. Also can we buy the leads and harnesses there or should it done before hand?!
-
hey guys, Sorry I'm at work and it's easier to come on here then phone the tracking people up.... Do we need to bring our own flags?! I am getting nervous which is making me panic that i'll do something wrong and yeah. I'm hopeless. So it's training for 4 weeks? I like that! Gives me time to register with the CAWA as well so we can actually compete later on!
-
Yes, see you there?? Sure will

Ella was my first puppy ever (only had 4 year+ rescue dogs) and had been 12 years for OH and it was our first dog all of our own and honestly, it has been the most rewarding experience and I would do it all again in a moment. I love her to pieces but kind of wish she'd get grown up now, love my hairy dogs and for a Golden Retriever she is more Labish I know, give it time!! I miss her little fat puppy belly after she ate, the way she'd trip over herself if she ran (waddled more like it) to fast and her little paws and puppy breath. Gosh I'm getting all puppy cluck now just thinking about it! OH was against crate training but now loves it 100% and says we will do it from now on with any dog/pup we get.She has also been a quick learner re: toilet training and obedience, hasn't destroyed anything but a headband I left in her reach, no holes or outside destruction. And on her first 2 nights she cried when we first went to bed for 15mins then 10 then nothing and for the first week she woke us up at 2.30 on the dot for a loo break and then slept right through fine. Very, very lucky to have her for our first dog! Here are some pics: First Day Home Taken at 6 months And now at 7 months .... taken Easter Weekend (hence the bunny ears which was thrilled about )

Gosh, seeing him in the first pic with that scared look on his face compared to the others makes me He is beautiful. I hope you have many many happy years together!! And love the photos!!
-
hello! Just wanting to double check.... Tracking is this Saturday yes?!
-
I saw this last night on ACA also and was completely shocked today when the outcome became available on the news sites. Don't have anything to add, just my thoughts go out to any bull breed owner. What a horrible thing to happen and he is such a beautiful boy Really brings home how horrible BSL is. Hopefully people saw this, also disagree and more supporters appear against it!

Jenni87 replied to Snowball's topic in General Dog Discussion

Wow that's pretty awesome. Hm..... May have to ask my Melbourne friend to go get me one of those

Hey Everyone Just wanting to pick your brings after my fail attempts at searching on here and on google but are there any fenced dog parks SOR?? There is the one in Kwinana but it's closed till further notice due to some soil testing being done (apparently espestos(sp?) has been found or something) and yeah. The only one I have been able to find is Whitman Park and it's a little far for what I am wanting. TIA! :D

Ooooh look at those puppy ears!!! What a beautiful girl.
