    Crates

He he I originally bought a pillow type thing but it's way too small, and I can just picture him falling off the side of the pillow, so I think the blankets are the way to go.
  2. I don't think she was cranky that he caught it - but was annoyed because they didn't tell her when she picked him up, that he would possibly get it or had been exposed to it. Don' t know much about kennel cough but thougt i t was highly contaigous and you caught it off other dogs, so am not too certain if you would be likely to get it at home? She also said her dog was fuly vaccinated against kennel cough but apparently this doesn't necessarily stop them from getting it, they apparently just don't get it as badly.

    Crates

Thanks everyone, Yes - have already got the crate - the problem I am having is finding something exactly the right size to fit into the crate i.e. a mattress. I have got a couple of nice doggy blankets to put in there but was hoping it wasn't going to be too hard for him to sleep on.

    Crates

Have just purchased a dog crate and wasn't certain whether you are supposed to put some kind of mattress in the bottom or just soft dog blankets. I can't find any matressy things to fit the dog crate.
  5. Was talking to a friend of mine whose dog caught kennel cough when he stayed at boarding kennels. She is furious she wasn't told that it was going around when she picked up the dog and also think it reflects on the quality of care provided. I don't know much about kennel cough but was interested in other's thoughts about whether this is a reflection on the kennel or is just one of those things and also whether she should have been told that her dog might have been exposed to it.

    Feeding Puppy

Yep - our only problem was that we were feeding her too much - and she ended up getting diahoreaa (know that isn't spelt right) , I t quickly settled down and she was fine after that. Seems to much prefer the fresh to dry. ( I suppose it is much more interesting to eat than dry food.) But maybe dogs don't think like this?
  7. Hmm - would also be interest in this - do dogs ever lose teeth (apart from them not being looked after properly by eating bones etc.)

    Feeding Puppy

I suppose they are all different
  9. Thanks everyone for all your views.
  10. Hmm, I asked this the other day when buying some petfood. Did you know that you can buy the barf patties already cut up? I asked about the rolls you were talking about and was told thy are still not much better than tinned food. Also need to buy then in fairly large rolls, and they don' last that long once they have been cut so you have to cut them up and freeze them anyway, unless you have heaps of dogs that will eat it quickly.
  11. How can the dog be having someone on? Not all dogs like Nutro, mine didn't. Maybe he/she meant that the dog was gettng a bit fussy (which I think she is) because it is obvious she prefers the raw chicken, beef mixed with veges etc to the dry.

    Feeding Puppy

Hmm, interesting discussion - we have always fed our dog raw meat even when she was a puppy, but was speaking to someone the other day who said you should never feed raw meat under about the age of four months. This was the first time I had ever heard of this - has anyone else?
  13. Probably. We give her the daily reccommended amont of Nutro in the morning. We also feed her chicken and lamb necks and at night give her either BARF patties, or a mixture of rice and vegetables with either raw chicken, beef or kangaroo. I think we are feeding her way more than what she is supposed to be eating, but she is still very thin. (She is an extrememly active dog though.)
  14. Hmmm - don't know - apparently there are a lot of very different opinions on the right age to desex, but I am no expert so you are probably wise to do a bit of research into this before you make a decision.
  15. Hmm not sure - we don't have a giant breed dog, however our dog eats nearly double the recommended amount however is still very thin - she is very active though - checked with the vet and he didn't think it was a problem. Have you checked with your vet?
  16. Hmm. Guess I won't be trying that then. Is it quite common for dogs to go off a certain brand of food and then change to another, or should they be right to eat it all the time?
  17. Yep - we did this with our dog and it worked well.
  18. Thanks - I use Nutro at the moment, but for some reason our dog has decided that she no longer likes it. A friend says her dog loves it but I wasn't sure what the quality was like?
  19. What do people on here think of Supercoat Dry dog food?
  20. I am buying Dog Rocks today and will test to see how they work. Although we expected it to be trashed, I somethimes feel sad about the beautiul lawn we had before our dog.
  21. I would love to take our dog to a dog friendly beach but would prefer to keep her on lead because I am not sure that she would have very good recall. Then I thought this might be recipe for a disaster if she was on lead and other dogs were off. Are there on lead dog friendly beaches available. Or can you take a dog to any beach?
