It's probably bad to ask this question, because everyone has such varying opinions, but if you HAD to chooose between Hills Science, Eukanuba and Royal Canin, which one would you choose?

Oh - also forgot to add - don't think dry food itself would give her diahorrea (will really have to learn how to spell that correctly ) I was told one of the advantages of a premium quality dry food, was that it was much easier to clean up their poo. One of my favourite jobs - not!

Our dog is two now - we feed her the suggested amount of dry food (Nutro Choice) and on top of that give her two chicken necks, and probably about 350 grams of veges, raw meat etc. The only problem we have ever had wtih her was about a montho after we got her ( she was about 4 months old), when she got some diahhorea. Vet said what we were feeding her was fantastic, but was just too much , too quickly. Introduced it very slowly, i.e. mixing in with dry and she was fine. Now she is so active, we can't keep the weight on her.

Wouldn't it have something to do with the timespan between the first and second vaccination?

Jillybean, how old is he? I think he's about 6-7months old now. However he's not very well trained or cared for, so I wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with that. Maybe attention seeking? Craving human attention?

Mmm - thanks Dru - I might print this out for her. Yes, she is a little dog - a Maltese.

Thanks Sticks - I'll let my friend know!

Jillybean, how old is he?

Thanks KathyinJapan - just purchased one online - it's about 4 cm too long, but I'll just have to squash it in!

A friend's 5 month old dog wees all over the place when she gets excited (i.e. when new people come to the door etc. Is there anything you can do for this (apart from ignoring her) and is she likely to stop or will it be an ongoing behaviour?

Yep, I have also used these - the dog seems to like them and they are very easy - just defrost and away you go!

Thanks for all your replies.

 Yep our dog LOVES water. Everytime we leave the pool gate open - in she goes! She has perfected her diving techinque and can make it half way across the pool before she hits the water. Particularly loves it if one of us is in there wiht her.

Are There Any Good Dog Food Rolls Available?
austen replied to ashan's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yep - my dog likes these, and they are already made into patties so all you have to do is defrost them! -
oops - forgot to add, we have switched our dog from chicken necks to lamb necks and she absolutely LOVES them.

We have alternated between Hills Science, Eukanba and Nutro. At the moment am on Nutro.

I was told 12 months but then again, my dog is very thin and someone suggested the other day to just keep her on the puppy food, even though she is 2 becasue the puppy food is higher in fat.

Thanks for that Sheree

I think it was for about 4 days. Apparently when they took the dog to the vet, the vet said, have you been boarding the dog recently and when she said yes, the vet said they had had a number of cases from there. Yes - I think she did phone them to let them know and they confirmed they had had cases there.

Both my dogs ended up with KC about 1.5 years ago and they had only been walked along the normal paths and not come into contact with any other dogs for at least 3 weeks. As showdog said, KC has been rampant this year. Both my two go it again this year, the worst I have ever seen (due to one dog getting taken to the pound coz she escaped) but she was only there not even 24 hours and as I said, both had it very bad. Oh really - so it's common for them to keep getting it - they don't build up some kind of immunity to it?
-
Look, I agree with you to a certain extent. Given that it's not really the kennel's fault, I can imagine that from a business point of view, they don't want to contact all their customers saying "yep - we've got kennel cough here, your dog might get it. Even though it's not their fault, it might not really be in their interests to broadcast it to the world.

So you don't find that they chew the foam up?

When you bring a new puppy into a home where there is an existing dog, I understand you need to supervise them carefully, but how long do you think you need to wait before you can leave them unsupervised together?

Thanks for the link - just had a look - they look great, but the problem is with the sizing - I obviouls ly got a funny shaped crate - the small is too small and the medium is too big. Thanks for trying to point me in the right direction though

Fish oil capsules? - now that sounds interesting.
