Interests
English Cocker Spaniels and Hungarian Vizslas are our main breeds. We have a great interest in Golden Retrievers, GSP's, Pointers, IWS and Brittanys as well - actually almost all the Gundog group, but those breeds in particular :) If Heath could have his way he would also have a Boxer!

macdolly replied to macdolly's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks heaps - guessing Cockers are a bit smaller than SharPei but will give them a call and see what sort of ballpark Our current advice is wait til min six months and $500 to $700 -
Hi everyone Never had one before had only heard of them but we have a 9 week old puppy with an Ingroinal Hernia Has anyone had one repaired / desexed at same time and what age Vets indicating six or more months old and very sad to hold onto him for that long and then look to rehome him Was thinking of giving him away on the condition it is done after six months of age (he is a very nice puppy) Anyone else had one, and if so had it fixed - approx age / costing and in the Brisbane area ?

After so much longing and waiting, and the wonderful generosity of his breeders in Denmark, it is with so much sadness that we lost our beautiful 'AC' just 13 days after arriving in Australia So much trepidation in getting him, so much excitement and so much love - and he was the dog of our dreams, the very very best cocker we have had the pleasure of being loved by in the past 19 years ! Such a cruel twist of fate, when you finally get what you think is the very very best, and will do so much for you, that it is so quickly taken away This lovely boy will never ever be forgotten, and although a week has passed the tears have still not stopped flowing We only got to love you in person for such a short period of time, but loved you from afar for many years - we will always think of you, our lovely boy, 'AC' Int/Hun/SU(u)/Fin/SK/A/VDH/VDH KLB/Den/Nord/Berlin Sieger 03 and 05/NZ Ch Sheerclever Out of Reach at Macdolly (imp Denmark) Taken way too early . You will never be forgotten 23/10/01 - 20/3/06 - but at Rainbow Bridge forever and beyond Our love and kisses forever

101 Uses For Apple Cider Vinegar
macdolly replied to caffiend42's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Great too for bites and stings If you are showing dogs and they get bitten by a greenant in the ring etc Douse the foot with ACV and the sting goes Most effective 'sting remover' we have found Just carry it in a small spray bottle for ready application -
Eagle Pack is FABULOUS All our dogs are on it, and previously our Vizsla with the horrific continual ear problems, was on the holistic formulae After trying all the other Gluten Free and Yeast Free dry foods - none of them made a dramatic difference to her ears - except for Eagle Pack! Our show/breeding dogs are all fed the Power Formulae The problem Vizsla the Holistic Lamb and Rice And seriously - less than one cup is more enough for a Cocker - ours actually put on weight if we feed them the whole cup full The only addition our doggies get to their diet is sometimes some Scottys ProPeak Roll, and Chicken Necks In Qld, Carolyn Pearen is the distributor and she does a great price for breeders - I THINK the 15kg Power Formulae is $76 (around that price) I have for the past seven or so years used Hills Science, then Pedigree Advance, and dont get me wrong, they too were good, but our dogs do GREAT on the Eagle Pack

We use BIOLAC but I make it up with just a touch of water to get the powder into a paste, and the rest of the mix we use Carnation milk. Works like a treat, microwave the bottle for 20 secs and feeds the babies. A vet told me a long time ago that the Carnation milk adds more fat to the mix and helps put the weight on the babies quickly. And when we cant source BIOLAC, have used Animalac with the same success, using the Carnation milk again in the mix. Hope this helps your puppy :D

I think I must fuss over mine way too much - Once they are four weeks in whelp, I change their dry food from Energy to Puppy and once they hit six weeks, they get two meals per day, and the last week three meals per day. We have a bitch with three day old puppies at present, and I am feeding her five times a day - she loves chicken necks, and will eat ten to twelve in a sitting with dry food, and today I made her scrambled eggs, with half a carton and she scoffed the lot and I cooked up the other half dozen for her straight away. I do hand feed them when they wont eat, and I will buy whatever takes their fancy - I always find BBQ Chickens, Kabana, KFC Chicken Nuggets (I know I know but they love them), and Vegemite toast soldiers tempt the fussiest Cocker Spaniel eaters :D Whoever said Nutrigel was great is spot on - my guys line up to lick it from the tube as a treat whenever any of the bitches have puppies, they all have to have a taste
