I have a 21/2 year old entire male - he has sired one litter (when he was just over a year old) and hasn't mated since - he doesn't seem to be frustrated. Our neighbour's bitch was on heat a few months ago and he didn't even acknowledge the fact (probably thought she was beneAth him, as she's a bitser )

D*mn you - now I want another GSP (can just IMAGINE OH's reaction )

Pup Returning After 1st Night! Unbelievable.
poodlemum replied to moosmum's topic in General Dog Discussion
That makes me so :p :D too. How really poor of those people. You must be heartbroken. Perhaps you need to have the return policy in the contract. A lot of rescue people do and for the few I've rehomed in the past year, I have repeated ad nauseum that if there is any problem of any kind, the dogs come back to me. Doesn't really make much difference - it's not enforceable - I always have that in my sale contracts but, when it comes right down to it, it's just a piece of paper! -
I've been lucky with the "crying" stage - the 1st Poodle I ever got was very good, and any puppy I had after that had company (in a couple of cases Mum & Dad) so no crying!

Pup Returning After 1st Night! Unbelievable.

- that's awful. I think, sometimes, people don't want to admit they made a mistake. I'm sure that's the case with Satchmo (the puppy that was on-sold by the people I sold him to), as I ALWAYS offer to take back puppies. -
hehe - try having eleven puppies Of course, it's not so bad when you know they'll be going to new homes but imagine the work for 1 pupppy x 11 - getting up early to feed them & mop out the laundry - letting them out for a run. But they ARE cute Kirislin - Poodle puppies find some *ahem* "novel" ways of escaping And, with Dad around to encourage them, they get into all sorts of mischief

He looks absolutely gorgeous - I had a GSP many years ago & still have a soft spot for the breed - I know they can be a bit challenging sometimes (possibly why he was abandonded) but they more than make up for it with the love they give. My boy, Wings, (Coolhand Bronze Wings) was the King of Victoria Gardens, Prahran, friend to all cats & honourary Uncle to many Poodle puppies ;)

Pup Returning After 1st Night! Unbelievable.

I guess I was lucky - the 1st Poodle I ever got sat on my lap quietly all the way home - was beautifully behaved & very easy to train (she was just softening us up - the next botch WAS a bitch ) I agree with the posters who said the people did the right thing returning the puppy - better than, as happened to one I bred, being sold to someone else when he was past the "cute" stage (we did eventually get that one back & re-homed him) -
Kcc Park - Tampering With Dog Float
poodlemum replied to Starkehre's topic in General Dog Discussion
I know they have a statement in the Dogs Vics Magazine telling people they are responsible for watching their children, but perhaps a reminder wouldn't go astray - I've seen some little "darlings" running around creating havoc at some shows I've been to! I would tend to agree with Newfsie - bored kids! -
Uh - OK - so the OP is "mentally challenged"?? Well, I must be too, because I would get EXACTLY the same idea of the guy from the wording of his request
-
To the OP - if you read a few threads on this forum, you'll find that there are a few members who love playing "bash the newbie" Judging from the attitude of some on this forum, their dogs have NEVER misbehaved, they have never had ANY problems and yet they are experts in telling everyone else what to do. I guess that keeping the cat and the catfood inside might be an idea, until the dog goes, or (more likely) gets hit by a car - your d*ckhead neighbors obviously arn't going to do anything and neither will the council, unless you are prepared to hound them regularly. Please don't be totally turned off DOL, there are good people on here with a wealth of experience & good advice, and not just self-righteous know-it-alls!

Yes, you can block OT. OT is CLEARLY labelled as OT, so why whinge about it - just stick to "general" or whatever else you're interested in. Are you saying that, because YOU don't like to have to wade through non-dog related topics that no-one else should have the enjoyment we get out of Off Topic? Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed today ?

Wow Janba - I am speechless at your attitude! - I think I would be more concerned about getting the dog's injuries treated than collecting semen! I have been involved with the Dog world for over 30 years but am still amazed at how SOME poeple view their dogs as disposable items, only kept for profit
-
hmmm - wonder how truthful that is? Dog knows, the media never let the truth get in the way of a good story
-
Probably not, that costs MONEY - something BYBs don't like parting with
-
It always seems to be that way nowadays - the law-abiding people get hit with the large fees, whereas people who have no respect for the regulations don't suffer. I can't understand why people like these have a dog at all, when they obviously don't care about it. Do you know who your local council memebr/representative is - try hassling him/her to get the Council to act on this - not impounding roaming, possibly dangerous dogs is just CR*P!!

Letter Template For Rspca's Anti Pedigree Campaign
poodlemum replied to BJean's topic in General Dog Discussion
I am glad that your State Canine Coucil is taking it seriously - judging from the response I have had (ie - none) I gather Dogs Victoria doesn't give a stuff! -
Happened to me a while back - doesn't it drive you crazy? I still have no idea how it happened, but at least I know (thanks to knowledgeable DOLers ) how to fix it
-
I agree tarope. Unfortunately, the GSD owners were all of a certain ethnic group who though having a large agressive dog was "cool"

Poll: Have You Ever Used The Report Button
poodlemum replied to sandgrubber's topic in General Dog Discussion
You're weird I know. But having a tanty every now and then makes you feel good. So, if you report yourself, do you get a warning? -
I had a similar experience with a Doberman when I was about 10 or 11 - made me very nervous of the breed for a long time. I must confess that I don't really like GSDs - perhaps its only the ones I have known - they seem to be cowardly on their own, but will attack another dogs if there are 2 or 3 GSDs together. This is just from my observation of a group of GSDs (owned by different people) who used to be walked in a park where we used to walk our dogs, and I am not saying they areLL like that.

Never Seen So Many Purebreds In Public In My Life.
poodlemum replied to pixie_meg's topic in General Dog Discussion
That's great! Makes you think perhaps the public is getting the message about so-called "hybrid vigour" -
This is totally boggling my mind
