  1. But didn't the OP say the phone numner was disconnected?
  2. I received that letter from PETA, as well. I was tempted to send it back with a note -"boy, did you pick the wrong person to send this to" and tell them what they could do with their 5c
  3. Except they don't leave much room on the couch And the OP would prefer a smaller dog so I would think a Mini would be a good compromise (bigger than toy but not too big ) I don't have any problem with my Standards getting on the couch - they're usually on the bed
  4. Not at all biased here - I would also recommend a Standard Poodle, people-orientated, happy, easy-going nature, easy to train &, best of all, GORGEOUS
  5. It is so beautiful & humbling to see the DOL community uniting in sending Jed positive healing thoughts
  6. I agree with amypie Get working on convincing us properly CW :D YES!! More pictures are definately needed - they are 2 of the most gorgeous dogs (and that's a REAL compliment from a Poodle owner!)
  7. My thoughts exactly - I have used the TP. Overall, though, I have found DOL to be the best medium for selling puppies
  8. That's a beautiful thought, Yellowgirl - I am sure that positive thoughts help the healing process.
  9. There is a new update in the thread in the News section. Thanks - so many threads I'm never sure which one to check
  10. NAW - NO - don't go to the dark side!!!!! I have a Mercedes SLK230 which will fit ONE dog in the passenger seat! Unfortunately, neither of my dogs are comfortable in a convertable (not like Niki, who thought he was King of The World)! So I also have an Audi A4 wagon, into which they both fit comfortably!
  11. hehe I was going to say Standard Poodle Standard Poodle Standard Poodle Standard Poodle Standard Poodle Standard Poodle Standard Poodle Standard Poodle Standard Poodle Standard Poodle There is NO other breed for me (ok - maybe another GSP, but I would really have to sweet-talk OH )
  12. Wow, ouch.. Cant believe that you would judge me because I made a joke about not wanting to going through the puppy stage, ie. peeing on floor... Actually - I was replying to Earthdogs post Commitment, my dogs and cats have all died of old age, or illness, I am VERY committed to a dog, thus the reason I am looking for an older dog rather than a cute puppy!!! In relation to your comment about forming a "deeper bond" there are many working dogs, both in the Defence force, Police Force, Customs etc that are exceptional working dogs with a deep bond with their handler who were obtained from the pound as an older dog!!! And for you to say that just because someone hasn't had their dog from puppyhood wouldn't have as much chance of developing a deep bond with their dog, then really... I do take exception to that. Because I assure you that people who have obtained a dog who wasn't a puppy has exactly the same ability of forming a deep bond than someone who gets a puppy! Sorry but I know I am a great dog owner, who give my dogs everything, they are very much part of my family and I am totally committed to them! I did say, just a prejudice of mine - I got Harrison when he was 6 months old and do wonder how he would be if I had got him younger. Niki, who is in my signature, I had from birth - so plenty of time for bonding there.
  13. I know what you mean, tlc - when I met OH I made it quite clear that the "boys" and I were a package deal - no way I would have contemplated for a moment re-homing them if he didn't like them!
  14. I saw a notice up at a local market - someone wanting a home for their 2 year old crossbreed because they had moved & the yard was not big enough. I was SOOOO tempted to write a comment on it along the lines of "didn't you THINK about that before you moved" It really annoys me - the attitude that dogs are expendable.
  15. I've got to say that, if i was looking at getting a dog for Obedience, I would much rather get a puppy! - you have a much better chance of forming a deep bond. ETA - I would be hesitant in selling or giving someone an older dog purely because they "didn't want to go through the puppy stage"- doesn't show much committment. Not that I'm implying this is the OP's reason - just a prejudice of mine.
  16. Why 6 months old, rather than a puppy? There are 5 litters listed here: http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/puppies/dobermann.asp
  17. Thanks for using Niki - of course, I'll have to buy at least a couple of shirts now :D
  18. & people wonder why BSL has come into being - because of stupid effing people like the owner of this Pitbull ETA - sending good thoughts to your unties dogs - they look lovely
  19. Try telling him that Standard Poodles definately are NOT "poofy" dogs - they were bred for water retrieving and still compete in Retrieving Trials Tell me THIS is not a "manly" looking dog

    Noahs Ark

No, I don't think Hugh can be found in the bible. - that's for sure OMG....don't tell HIM that.....he thinks otherwise!!!!!!! He thinks he WROTE it
  21. Have not changed his diet recently. Has been he's normal energetic self, but he's been farting alot. And it stinks! He has free access to water but he usually doesn't drink alot. He normally has a big drink after his walks and just a couple of licks every few hours. Yeah, that's what I plan to do. I'm skipping his breakfast and going to start him on the boiled chicken and rice this evening. Thanks for the advices so far. :D Don't we ALL know what that's like Do you think he might have gotten hold of something "nasty" while out on a walk or at the park? Niki's father, Lennon, got hold of a very, very dead rabbit once & ate it - he had the runs for a few days after that - my ex & I afterwards compared any gruesomely horrible smell to "the maggoty rabbit farts"
  22. Sounds like the usual diarrhea that puppies (and sometimes adults) can get from time to time. Some questions: Have you changed his diet recently? Is he drinking plenty of water? Is he depressed & lethargic or does he seem like his normal self otherwise? Sometimes diarrhea can be cured by as simple a thing as putting the dog on a bland diet for a few days (ie boiled chicken & rice). If he is keeping well hydrated and is alert it is probably not necessary for immediate Vetrinary care.
