Is there any possibility of leaving the dogs inside when you're not home (crated or in 1 room)? We do this with our dogs so we never have a barking problem. If I hear them barking when I'm home I always investigate & scold them if they're barking at nothing (happens very rarely - it's usually the neighbours dog outside or a stranger approaching the house that sets them barking)

Wouldn't be getting that big :D Sorry poor taste.Much like the breeding that went into that dog. I'm sure that breeding would have been intentional too I think you'd need some human intervention to mate 2 dogs that different in size. NO - just a good, steady stepladder As others have said, it does happen - a bitch in heat will lie down to be mated, if necessary

The Ultimate Evil - The Elizabethan Collar

Shell - seeing your cockatiel with the EC on reminds me of when my Siamese cat had to wear one - that was dirty looks for about 3 weeks! I didn't DARE take a photo -
The Ultimate Evil - The Elizabethan Collar

I know most dogs HATE the elizabethan collar but my dear, departed Lennon loved his - he decided it was the ultimate fashion accessory - the day we took him to the park after his eye surgery he STRUTTED in like "hey guys - look what I've got" He also discovered that he could run up behind people & butt them savagely in the behind. Another plus of the collar is that he could fill it up with water from the park sprinklers and then spray some unsuspecting passer-by -

I just watched the video. Jed, you are truly an AWESOME lady -
You people make me sick!

If you had read some of the topics started by "newbies" you would know that this forum has some people who, apparently, have always thought of and been prepared for absolutely everything and have nothing better to do with thier lives than give other people sh!t!! I usually use ribbon or, when the pups are bigger, some cheap collars (can be difficult finding enough diffenrent colours when their are 11 puppies in the litter, as in my last!) Good luck with your litter, please don't be put off by the resident know-it-all & give us more pictures!!

What an honour Jed has bestowed on the DOL community by sharing with us these precious photographs and the unfathomable depths of grief and pain she must be going through. It's almost undone me, frankly. and Me - thank you, Jed, for sharing your memories. -
Capanash's gorgeous boy, Fabio, is in the latest Homy Ped brochure - I was in the chemists the other day & they had one of the brochures on the counter - I said "I know that Poodle" The bitch I used to have, Sascha, appeared (briefly) on "The Einstein Factor"

So great to see a post from you Jed -
& all my Poodles are obviously not pure-bred

Tell that to the bitch I started Obedience Training at age 5 - we got up to a CD Tiltle! :D ;) ;) if i ha 10c for everytime i hear tha i would be very well off and not need to work!! Darkrai - you & me both (I mean, it's not like there's any work or expense involved in raising a litter of puppies, is there?)

or :D Ahhh - I never thought of that one as a razzberry - if only we had sound with the emoticons! I always understood that when wild dogs kill an animal, usually a herbivore, they eat the stomach contents, which sort of makes them omnivorous
-
What about poodles bred in France? Oh - we SOOOO need a "razzberry" icon I know someone who used to beat his dog after it escaped the yard through a broken gate, so it would cower when it returned from a visit to the neighbours French Poodle. I told him to fix his gate. His argument was that he didn't need to fix the gate because his dog "knew" it was wrong to leave the yard. no such thing as a "French Poodle" Poodles are commonly held to have originated in Germany French Poodles are the ones that walk around with their nose in the air, have pink fur and use a sexy French accent! And say "Ooooh LaLa"?

A girl I worked with once told me that her butcher had told her this - I replied "Oh, really - where did he get his BVSC?"
-
A bitch I had once ate a very dead, maggoty possum with no ill-effects (apart from feral windiness )

I am happy to keep in touch with any of my puppy buyers, without being "pushy". Rcently I had an enquiry from some people who had met someone who had a Standard Poodle they got from me & obviously had kept my email addres & passed it on. I wasn't able to help them, but did steer them towards another breeder. I am also, off and on, in contact with the breeder from whom my ex & I got our first Standard Poodle, nearly 30 years ago! We subsequently got another 3 Poodles from her.

Just interested in stories. My upcoming wedding is going to be a very small affair, only about 20 guests in all, but 2 of them are people who have bought puppies from me & have become good friends. Anyone else become friends with the breeder of their dog, or with someone who bought a puppy from them?

Thanks for those pictures - I just LOVE Charlie! I had Harrison & Dylan "groomed" at my Vet's once - never again - they came back shaved down (including their tails :D ) and it took about 3 weeks before they looked even halfway decent again. I'm very lucky that, in this little rural backwater, I've found an excellant groomer who knows what a Poodle should look like.
-
Not mad, unfortunately, just catering to the demand which they have created. I would love to see our State organizations actively promoting pure breeds - they say they do but it obvously is not working!
-
What do you expect - it IS Frankston - not exactly MENSA territory
-
Agree with this - looks like a lazy (or not very talented) groomer. I made the mistake of having my 2 poodle boys clipped at the vet's once - they were shaved to the skin (tail & all ) and both of them had nasty rashes on their faces. Having been involved in a grooming business, with a business partner who is a very good groomer who takes great pride in her work, I wouldn't accept such a job again! You do have the consolation that Charlie's hair will grow back, hopefully as good as it used to look. At least he IS cute, and no bad groom can take that away from him! PLEASE can we some some of the "dirty looks" photos you have of Charlie? - they always crack me up ;)

That's what I found from breeding 4 litters from the same parents.
