  1. - had to yell out to Mr.Poodlemum & tell him this - we both had a good laugh - thanks!
  2. Damn you! I have Black Labs and white tiles My family had a Lab when I was a child - they are hair-shedding MACHINES (but soooo lovable)
  3. I agree with those who've said that it depends whether the aggression is displayed towards another dog or towards a human. I have seen Harrison show food aggression to another entire male, but I can take a bone out of his mouth no problem. I think some measure of food aggression is natural and, as long as it is not shown to humans, not necessarily a problem. ETA - in the wild, a dog that did not have a certain amount of food aggression would quickly starve to death!
  4. Can definitely relate to this - when I lived in Melbourne I lived in Menzies Creek, but continued going to my old Vet in Diamond Creek - A 3+ hour round trip.
  5. Still got the convertible, but bought a station wagon to accommodate the dogs! When Mr.Poodlemum gets around to the fencing we will have a beautiful "off-lead" play area, as well
  6. Interesting...what does this "warranty" cover? You would have to be very careful as it could be open to abuse by certain types. But yes, certainly would take the shine off Pet Shop Puppies. That is for somebody else to work out, not me. Done my bit. Will now return to being the laundry slave and dog food maker. Souff No I was asking Poodlemum what her warranty covers as I'm in the process of putting together contracts and puppy packs for my bubs. I did 5 loads this weekend ! As above!
  7. Interesting...what does this "warranty" cover? You would have to be very careful as it could be open to abuse by certain types. But yes, certainly would take the shine off Pet Shop Puppies. I cover mine for any problems shown to be inherited. Obviously not for accidents. I also offer (as I know most breeders do) to take the puppy back, or try to re-home it, if they are unable to keep it. I'm also happy to board "my" puppies - try finding a petshop that will do this, or one you can phone at 10:00 pm because your puppy is behaving strangely
  8. OK - even if they only made it a 1 year warranty, I'm sure that would take the gloss of it for the Petshops - I don't know about other breeders, but I do this already.
  9. I'm quite sure they do! We often refer to one of the dogs looking at something "only Poodles can see"
  10. Nothing to add to the excellent advice already given here - just GOOD on you for giving Jackson a loving home. I also had tears in my eyes reading his story. I'm sure he will reward you with plenty of love.
  11. Have a POODLICIOUS day, Daisy!
  12. All the Poodles I've had over the years have been enthusiastic tail-waggers (MUCH more dangerous now that they're undocked )
  13. I doubt they will be laying baits in people's backyards so, don't let your dogs wander and they won't be in danger
  14. about 7 years ago I had 2 Poodles - brother & sister (from different litters but still full Brother & sister). They were both given the same training (basic Obedience) plenty of love and were well-cared for. Niki was an absolute delight of a boy - well behaved and rarely put a paw wrong. Sally, on the other hand, was an EVIL BITCH - she was destructive, an escape artist and tried her best to lead the other dogs on wrong-doing. So, I would say that nature plays a large part in a dog's personality.
  15. I actually have the DVD but I don't think I could watch it again - too harrowing!
  16. I love Harrison & Dylan they both give me lots of love & laughs but Niki - was MY heart dog
  17. Love them! (The Poodles especially, of course )
  18. You say you told the owner - did he have anything positive to say? Poodles are an intelligent breed with a very low boredom threshold, so they would be barking out of sheer boredom, I would say. My advice would be to speak to the owner again and, if nothing is done, then talk to your Council & get THEM to speak to the owner.
  19. That's going TOO far for my liking - "online" could include Dogzonline and many reputable breeders (myself included) advertise in newspapers, it's just not possible to place all puppies purely by word of mouth Further to my comment above - I went to the RSPCA Puppy Farm site & put in a comment about my concerns. I received a reply today, which impressed me! The point was made that they did to want to use the term "registered breeders" as puppy farms sometimes describe themselves as registered but would look at more ways to steer people towards ethical breeders. I just wouldn't like to see Dogzonline suffer because people are being told not to look for puppies online! I would say about 80% of my puppy enquiries come from Dogzonline.
  20. That is SUCH a Poodle thing Poodles know no loyalty to each other - they will dob at the drop of a hat (you never know, it might get them a reward)

  22. if she were a horse id be giving her a dose of parrafin oil, shoots anything straight through. better to be phoning the vet i think I think the butter is most likely to do that - no need for any other help! Most likely it will go pretty much straight through them - just monitor their condition closely. Over the years my dogs have stolen & eaten butter, chocolate, cooked chicken bones, you name it, with no ill-effects. Not saying I would GIVE them any of those things just, don't be too paranoid when an otherwise healthy dog eats something bad!
  23. She was expelled from Dogs Victoria, as well, so sometimes the governing bodies do the right thing ;)
