  1. Yep, it sure is - the laundry wall, where the puppies slept. Accomplished with a combination of tenacity & REALLY good teeth This is the FIRST photo of him (when he started developing his personality) - sure looks like a born trouble-maker and a few weeks later - butter wouldn't melt in his mouth
  2. My nomination is........... DYLAN!!! (&, just in case I wasn't certain which of the 11 puppies was responsible, he obligingly poked his nose out when I was taking the picture ) so..... Remind me again why HE was the one I kept
  3. 2 of the bitches I had tended to carry their pups very high & didn't show until they were almost ready to whelp. I never bothered with ultrasounds etc - I figured they were either pregnant or they were not & I would know at 9 weeks
  4. In Victoria you can do both obedience & agility with an "associate" dog
  5. I am in NSW as well and do the same & the same in Victoria. If a buyer has a name they particularly like I will try to include it in the registered name.
  6. Off-topic, I know, but how do you go registering the puppies - how do you know which dog sired which puppy - do you DNA test them all?
  7. I would be inclined to start "massaging" his front legs - work gently on the shoulder joint & move them in the right direction for walking. As long as you are gentle, it won't do any harm & the pup will not object. I used to do this to "Thorpie" several times a day.
  8. I would love to see the medieval stocks reinstated - put scumbags like this on display so we can throw rotten vegetables & eggs at them
  9. My sister has a rescue Cairn (or Cairn cross) - "Milly" is a great little dog! - love your name! Rana was the name of my fist Poodle & is part of my Breeder's Prefix.
  10. Speaking as a breeder - I have never had, nor ever seen the need for, a website. When I started breeding (17 years ago) such things were unheard of I've always been happy for people to come & look at the puppies, am happy to send them pictures of the puppies, the parents etc. & refer them to people who have bought puppies from me in the past. As far as being a member of the breed club is concerned, I am a member now, was in the past but did not renew my membership, due to an unpleasant experience with the club (nothing to do with the current executive), so I wouldn't necessarily let it sway my judgement. I have only ever bought puppies from 2 breeders (1 of Poodles, 1 of GSPs) and I wouldn't have a clue whether either of them were/are members of their breed club!
  11. Never had a problem, as Poodles routinely have theirs removed at about 3 days (used to get it done by the vet at the same time as the tail-docking - still get the dewclaws removed). I have witnessed a dog get a very nasty dew claw injury at obedience training - ripped the claw right out & was bleeding profusely.
  12. Very cute - & I can actually have a CREAM Poodle
  13. Danielle, the afternoon before I had my old girl PTS she actually got up off the couch & came outside - we were sitting outside having a few drinks with friends and she "did the rounds" and got pats from everyone - I truly believe she was saying goodbye
  14. Interesting suggestion - I know it works for gum. I was going to suggest TiTree oil, as well.
  15. hehe - I remember them, all right - they used to ride 2 & 3 abreast on the road down from Menzies Creek to Emerald - oh for an AK47
  16. I agree with this Danielle - the night before I had my foundation bitch PTS I had a dream about her - she said to me "I'm tired - let me go"
  17. Any particular area? I used to live in Yarrambat & always boarded my dogs at Sparrows In The Treetops in Ashley Road - they are lovely, caring people. They specifically say on their website that medication is not a problem: http://www.sparrowsinthetreetop.com.au/
  18. Ex & I went to Qld at this time of year a few years ago - we chose the places to stay by the "Camping with Dogs" book (now a website - didn't book anywhere & didn't have any problems.
  19. As a (Former) Obedience Instructor I agree 100% with this - the Halti is the lazy owner's option - I think any dog can be trained to walk properly on a martingale or check collar if you persevere
  20. Hope you have a great Christmas, Troy - thanks for the terrific job providing & moderating this site for us!
  21. You're speaking jibberish Poodlefan come back and save me from looking like a raving lunatic! That is so badass.... stopping to show his dog for the other question, I'm guessing some sort of german dog maybe shnauzers but aren't poodles french, who knows what breeds Poodlefan has (apart from I"m guessing poodles ) BITE YOUR TONGUE Poodles are NOT French - either German or Russian, but NOT French Poodlefan? Sounds llike something on a Chinese restaurant menu? And it was Moe where's my cigar? No cigar. Did anyone answer this? I think it might have been Harpo
  22. I know exactly where you're coming from Jules - I can remember when Standard Poodles were "bullet-proof" - no PRA, no Hip Dysplasia, no Sebacious Adonitis, none of the problems for which Poodles are routinely tested nowadays! Over 17 years of breeding I have bred 9 litters and the vast majority have been to pet homes - by the standards of some on DOL, this makes me near as dammit to a BYB
  23. I can also sympathise with the OP - during my time as an Obedience Instructor I encountered MANY Staffies who were dog aggressive - I am sure that there are also many who are not, but it's the bad experiences one remembers
  24. Hmm, I rather think pix are in order Yes indeed!!!
