Perhaps its time to invest in one. x 2 - our 2 are always crated when we're home - no problems with barking! The crate will be his "safe" place - Harrison (the dog in my signature) LOVES his crate & will often go & sleep in it when the door's open.

What a dogs name is has nothing to do with how it is treated. I don't quite agree - if you think a dog doesn't even deserve it's own unique name, then I believe that that shows that the dogs is of no value to you.
-
I dont ask what they want for dinner - they eat what I give them. If i had little kids they'd eat what I dished up as well. As for not saying your dog is happy - c'mon now corvus. Havent you ever watched your dog doing zoomies and thought to yourself, gee he looks happy. Exactly the same here - even though Poodles are often dressed up etc - mine are NEVER dressed up or made to look silly - they are dogs - beautiful dogs, but dogs - my relationship with them is diffrent from my relationship with humans (not so demanding, on their part, for one thing ) No, that was an absolute A$$HOLE who treats an animal like a "thing" - every dog has it's own personality, not human - canine - and deserves it's own name.

Poodle puppies love to chew!!! As catherine.b said - every time he chews your feet or nips at you say NO very firmly & give him something he is allowed to chew (a rubber bone or similar). Good luck with your puppy & congratulations on choosing the world's best breed (not that I'm at all biased )

& we hope to see a picture of him laying back with a BIG smile on his face

A groomer friend of mine suggested Curash when my young bitch had a mild allergic rash on her belly - worked a treat! THanks, Bubbles - I had forgotten about Curash

+1 Well, take that sour attitude somewhere else, then

That's interesting, Poodlefan - I've always thought they were an allergic reaction! buckley rog - the Royal Canin is a good food, but I always raised my puppies on plain old Supercoat Puppy dryfood from the supermarket They certainly seem to thrive on it! Your boy is gorgeous - I love Labs. Do you give him any raw food/bones? *whispers to poodlemum* I think he might be a Golden Retriever! Of COURSE he is - I love Goldens too

The boy I used to have, Beau, had a purple patent-leather collar. He was black and it looked magnificent on him!

If he is getting hot while he's playing that might make the hotspots worse. Also, JMO, but I would NEVER give a puppy Eukanuba - I feel it causes to rapid muscular growth & he might have joint problems later in life (I say this as a breeder of largish dogs for 16 years). Do you have the plant wandering jew in your yard - this is a well-known allergen. A poster on the Poodle Thread recommends Polaramine 5mg to treat hotspots - it's a mild antihistamine & should be available from your Chemist.

Agree with Jed - he shouldn't have a problem. When I had a Dog and Bitch running together they would often mate several times a day!

Last litter I bred was 11 puppies - Sophie was still bleeding a week afterwards. I rang the vet & he said that if it was the dark blood then nothing really to worry about - Sophie was quite happy & healthy & the pups were feeding well (she had oxytocin and a thorough examination shortly after the birth, so I was not worried about a retained placenta).

The Police will attend here if you call them - I saw a very distressed dog left in a car - all the windows closed. I rang the Police (fortunately, the Police Station was just across the road) they attended immediately. The owner turned up just as they were about to break the window and they gave her a real telling-off! I tried this once at a supermarket - they REFUSED to put a call over the PA (never shopped there again). If I have a dog in the car & the day is sunny (doesn't have to be hot - soon gets warm in the car on a sunny day) I always try to find a shady spot to park - even if it means quite a walk for me - no shade, I don't stop!

Where Can I Buy Eco-pet In E.gippsland?
poodlemum replied to poodlemum's topic in General Dog Discussion
Have sent an email - thanks -
No, that makes us as bad as the "person" who did this. I say, bring back the medieval stocks - put oxygen thieves like this in the stocks & let us throw rotten vegetables, manure etc at them.

Love Miss Emmy & Ziggy is so good with her!

Standard Poodle, get the Standard Poodle

Where Can I Buy Eco-pet In E.gippsland?
poodlemum replied to poodlemum's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks, Gayle - I might give them a call & drop in when I go up to Melbourne - take an esky & stock up the freezer. -
Eco-Pet is the only commercial dog food that I like to feed my dogs & I'm finding it very hard to get around here. There IS a pet shop in Bairnsdale that stocks it - the small size rolls only (and they're frozen) but the shop also sells live animals so I prefer not to patronize it! I know there are a few DOLers around this area - does anyone else feed Eco Pet and, if so, where do they buy it?
-
I agree, Poodlefan, although I would opt for a Standard! Keisha - my 2 boys are kept in a fairly short lamb or "sporting" clips which is relatively easy to maintain. Standard Poodles can be active dogs or couch potatoes, depending on your mood - they LOVE to be with you and they are intelligent and easy to train. (Not that I'm at all biased ) As for the "Pansy" comments a handsome, well-muscled Standard Poodle male is the LEAST "Pansy" thing you've ever seen - take a look at this boy, Myrana Gauloise (Beauregard)

What Was The Lastest Your Bitch Started To Show
poodlemum replied to BittyMooPeeb's topic in Breeders Community
My bitches seem to carry their pups up under the rib cage (Standards should have very broad chests) and the pups would drop down a day or so before whelping. -
Why Do You Like The Kinds Of Dogs You Do?
poodlemum replied to corvus's topic in General Dog Discussion
With you entirely on that Poodlefan & Christina - the very first dog I CHOSE was a Poodle - to my mind the perfect dog, intelligent, low-shedding, gorgeous & a dog with a sense of humour -
I voted GSP - I used to have one and he was a lovely, affectionate boy - just LOVED chasing a ball & being active, but cold be just as much of a couch potato as the Poodles, at times. Wish I had a picture of him lying on the floor with Poodle puppies climbing all over him - unfortunately, that was pre digital camera days.
