  1. If you google moddle it looks like they mean maltese x toy poodle. In other words almost certainly puppy farm white fluffy. Why can't people call these dogs/puppies, heinz 57, mongrels, mixed breeds or cross breeds like they used to ? Why have people got so dumb ?
  2. Yes, the General Public are most impressed if you say your dog got BOB at Melbourne Royal.
  3. I see, so using your Import as an example, he is an INT CH as this is a FCI award, but he is a WW having won a Challenge but not a World Champion as he would have had to win BIS at the World Show in 08. Thanks for clearing that info
  4. I have attended shows in Russia, and the judges most certainly handled the dogs. Thanks, I was told they get the handler to mouth dogs and to "display" testicles, this example was on large breeds that were very feisty. Having said this I don't think the issue with the Spanish judge is a cultural issue, definitely a personal one. If anyone knows can they keep an update on what disciplinary action is being taken against her ?
  5. Are they different ? I mean, is WW the same as World Champion or is it a way of saying BOB or DC for the World Dog Show ? I can see from the becks post it means DC or BC. Would like to know more details about World Champion if there is such a title.

  7. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but whens Dogs were shown in the 60's in England there was very minimal handling by the judge. The dog was largely judged by the presence in the ring and movement and overall type. I understand in Russia dogs are handled by the exhibitor to display teeth and also testicles so the judge doesn't put a hand on them. This video has highlighted how much hands on is used now in the extreme.
  8. Hang on, I have seen this done exactly the way described. I think it is not necessary and I am entitled to my opinion. Whatever happened to positive training ?
  9. Justso you don't think im ignoring you- the replies RSG and Rebanne made to yourself and GayleK pretty much sum up my feelings. Most people will not do it as dramatically or aggressively as the judge in the video. It's a very effective training method for young pups. I personally have found using food treats results in a lazy stack as well as needing to have bait in front of the dog to get it to move forward. The rocking and dropping the back legs (most puppies will squirm and wiggle their bodies during this for kisses!) encourages the dog to walk itself into a strong forward reaching stack without the aid of bait under it's nose. Poor Puppies
  10. I completely agree. It is revolting to think this used as a "training" method. Also it is absolutely unnecessary. What on earth is wrong with using treats to get the pup to love all training ? In the case of table training use the treat to "walk" the puppy a step or two. Each to their own. I use a range of training methods, it's not 100% positive all the time. My dogs all love training and they'll turn themselves inside out for me. The current show team has all had a some stage recieved a reprimand, a rocking action or a check from a check chain. There is a huge difference between picking a pup up and rocking it backwards and forwards a couple of times, when compared to what that judge did, the ferocity left me shaking my head Yes, the judge was violent, as if she just hated that dog. It looked like she was wringing it's neck. I know what you mean, you want the dog/pup to pay attention but I have seen the rocking motion, and of course the check chain, formerly called a choke chain used very badly by cranky people. I could never use or condone these methods even when used with "care".

  12. No the green dream in high density inner city living, but they do think a chicken on your balcony would bo OK green wise, provided you did not eat it. All the rural lving folk need to move to the city and all their land will be reverted to natural habitat for native animals, no domestic animals allowed and we all have to be vegans. high speed carbon nutral trains from one sity to anotherm all roads removed. Battery People !
  13. Soon they'll have us all living in characterless boxes, 2 or more on a little suburban block with no dogs and no backyard. Nasty minded little people who miss the point Beautiful dogs, a large and healthy garden and horses what could be better ?
  14. What about the hygiene thing?? How do I kno that you, your child has not been patting a dog that has Kennel Cough??? Aside from that, my dog is my property an I have every right to dictate when, how and why you touch the beast. My dog is not public property????? I am normally more than happy to oblige but I have the right to refuse. Um, I think you'll find your dogs are more at risk of getting Kennel Cough from the judge's hands after he/she's gone over all the other dogs. No one is saying you have to let people pat your dogs, good grief
  15. Hi Danielle & Raz, big fluffy dogs don't mean you get away without good manners. you're missing the point. Just say "no or not right now" not " have you clean hands?" You wouldn't ask the judge if they have clean hands when he gives you the ribbon now would you ?
  16. I think it is absolutely outrageous to ask a child if they have clean hands before patting a dog !! I know all about the stress of sticky coats from people patting my dogs having been to a lot of Royals Either say to all people, who ask to pat the dog, " Of course" and then do a quick clean up as soon as they've gone or less stressful, just say "OK, but you'll have to wait until after they've finished being in the ring". Any people who put dogs higher than children are making future problems.
  17. It's not a question of whether it can be "stomached", it's whether it's necessary.
  18. Well that's great but the problem is that one person says 'Hey I feel outraged' and every other idiot in the world starts screaming for the abusers balls to be cut off. It's extremely bloody disturbing to see the base common denominator at work. Can we just see news story without the bogan element thrown in? Thanks. I agree, I agree
  19. My dogs dislike the cooling mats and never lie on them by choice. Even when they are in the trolley they do their best to lie on the edges. A battery operated fan attached to the trolley is OK and they don't like the cooling vests either so a spray bottle on their tummies and foot pads works instead.
  20. Another thing that works is just once ask a confident Junior Handler to take him in ( after practising before ) and take the opportunity to see what he is like in the ring and what he instatly responds to and work from that. You have to make it a very happy time for him, a special time he looks forward to, have fun
  21. Thanks for a positive story where love and kindness has made a big difference. Big hugs to Conan
  22. More positive articles are the way to go..... my point was that the focus seems to be on cruelty cases.
