I passed on the details to my friend....she rang the owner today. The dog had just found a home with someone else, so she missed out, but sounds like she has a lovely new home anyway

Ok. Will do. Thanks :)

Thanks Rebanne. Will do :) -
Hi folks, :) I've been asked to help find a home for a young greyhound pup. Currently located near Ballarat, Vic, but I'm willing to drive him to his new home, or at least part of the way. He's a black pup, currently 8 weeks old, from racing lines. He's safe and well with his breeder until he finds a forever home. At 4 weeks old he sustained fractures to his left hind (tibia/fibula). No growth plate involvement. He's now running around like a pork chop with his siblings. While he won't make it as a racing dog, his leg has healed extremely well and a lovely pet home is what he needs. His trainer is a lovely fellow, who just wants to find this sweet little boy a good home. So, anyone looking for a new pup? Or know of someone who is? Please contact me!!

Not sure if you're talking about Central Animal Records or another registry, but the CAR forms for breeders have a spot for "kennel name" at the top. Link Here

I find the finger brushes much more fiddly to use, so I just use a soft childrens toothbrush. The pet toothpaste isn't cheap, but a 70g tub should still last you a few months. Don't need much on your brush, just a wee bit.

Nothing beats daily brushing! The four whippets in this household have their teeth brushed every single day before bed. It takes me less than ten minutes a day. They also get bones, but that's more because they love them, not so much for their teeth. If I let the brushing slip, I notice a difference within a couple of weeks.

Vets All Natural - Perfect Puppy Nutrition
Swizzlestick replied to Dr Bruce Syme's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Anyone interested in buying a 15kg bucket of Vet's All Natural (Complete Puppy). I've used 1.35kg Price $90 Pick up near Ballarat, Ballan, or Bacchus Marsh. Or I can take it to KCC Park 22nd Sept. :) -

Do You Ever Get Sad On Your Dogs Birthday?
Swizzlestick replied to Baileys mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
The second hardest day of my life was the day that would have been my girls 2nd birthday. She died about 7 weeks before her birthday. I pretty much cried all day. Hardest day was obviously the day I lost her. I know you guys are getting sad because your dogs are aging, but you've also got them by your side too. Birthdays are to be cherished. :) -
Another vote for backseat buddy. We love ours.

Our whole house is laminated floorboards. Dogs have lived in this house for 9 years, and I'm yet to see a scratch they've made on the floor.

Is There Any Things Said About Your Breed...
Swizzlestick replied to Baileys mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
My whippets are not skinny. They're lean, running machines. Ever seen an obese sprinter?? -
You fence looks very nice indeed. But I think part of the reason people move to acreage is so they don't feel like they live in a "box". A bit too suburban feeling for my liking. :)

We have 10 acres. The rest of the property is just 5 strand fencing with a stand off hot wire. If starting from scratch, I'd do our house yard very differently. First it was just the 5 strand around the house yard too, but then we got a pup who just slipped under the wire (understandably). Then we added sheep mesh squares around the whole house yard too. That fixed the problem. He was too big to fit through by then. Fast forward a few years, and Daphne, our whippet pup joined the family. She was small enough to fit through the squares on the sheep mesh. Sooooo, then we chicken wired the whole yard too! So, if doing it all again, I'd just assume that one day we might need to contain a small pup/dog, and do it properly the first time. Ours is 1.2m high. My dogs could easily jump it if they wanted too, but they're only out there when I'm home. When we're at work, they're in their runs. The other tricky thing, can be the small gap between the fence post and gates, and under gates too. Under our gates, we have a sleeper, laying on it's side. (We rarely drive through those gates, and the sleeper can just be dragged aside if we need to). To stop them slipping through the gap, we have another piece of small squared mesh, that once the gate is shut, we can clip that in place too. Hope that makes sense. Sorry, I don't think I have any photos of the fence.

I'm another who has only just come across this thread. I'm so very sorry to hear about your loss. Not only the loss of Bailey, but also the recent loss of another family member too. What should have been one of the happiest times of your lives, will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. RIP Bailey. Run free little man.

What Are The Chances Of This Happening.
Swizzlestick replied to leighw's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Unfortunately, not all that uncommon. I know quite a few people who have multiple dogs that have had to repair both ACL's, on both dogs. Many dogs that do rupture one ACL, will eventually do the other one too. A combination of their conformation, play styles/activities, and bad luck I guess. All the best with their surgery and recovery. :) -
I voted other for the first question (because I've never owned a tail chaser) and serious problem for the second question. I'd certainly be discouraging any dog of mine if I saw him chasing his tail. Reminds me of the video of the dog on the couch eating a bone, and attacking it's own hind leg when "it" got too close. :(

I do, more so because I handle very wormy dogs and cats on a daily basis (at work), rather than concerns about my lot. I at least know that mine are wormed.

Bummer. Surprised Cathy still has it on her website.

I have Kickatinalong for the Staffords and the Greyhound had his as well. But when I went to their site, it looks as though they don't do them for smaller dogs any more. Really? They have a specific page just for small breeds. That's the one I linked above. Odd.
