OMG she's gorgeous!!!
-
gorgeous puppies everyone!! Here's another of Ruby the Leonberger, she's 12 weeks old now:
-
I use it on my lips as well, and the other day little Ruby became very interested in the bit that was left on my finger and tried to lick it off!
-
I can barely recognise the back of my hand at the moment! My puppy, who is now 10 weeks old, has really done a number on me...ripped me to shreads! lol I've been trying some of these methods but so far none of them have had much of an effect on her. I guess I'll just have to try harder

the place chicko mentioned, Northern Suburbs runs on a sunday...look here... http://www.northernsuburbsdogclub.org/

Southern River train at the CAWA grounds Just checked... OK Northern Suburbs do, so I stand corrected, but I don't know that I would want to take a puppy who is not fully vaccinated to a heavily utilised dog park. It is also nearly an hour drive away... I always thought that CAWA affiliated clubs couldn't take unvaccinated dogs due to the insurance issues, but you live and learn ;) hmm thats a good point. I was going to take my puppy to Northern Suburbs for puppy pre school, but now perhaps not! The other places they are held are all at vets - isn't that just as bad? (sick dogs in and out of there all day)

I think you're all forgetting the most important factor here.... :D we need to see these two gorgeous dogs of yours!!!! Edit: I found them hehe...in the photos thread
-
I'd be more than happy to pay for the insurance if that were the case!! However having gone through thousands of $$$ in medical bills in the last couple of years, I will be getting insurance for my new puppy!!

Hip Dysplasia ~updated With New Pics~
outatime replied to Ahona's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Well I'm in Perth, so I'm not too sure! However, last year I dealt with Jo at Aquapaws (http://www.aquapaws.com.au/) when my dog had her hip problems (Jo organised a canine cart/wheelchair from America for me). They're in Melbourne (I have no affiliation with other than being a happy customer - actually found them right here - they're one of the advertisers at the top of every page on this forum, and Jo was very helpful and fantastic to deal with) and do hydrotherapy and they even have underwater treadmills. It may be a bit much for your boy at the moment, they do a lot of rehab work, and I'm sure if you just found a swimming pool that he could swim in, he would build up those muscles. But it's worth a call to them even just to have a chat about it and see what they say. -
Hip Dysplasia ~updated With New Pics~

Not sure about how big his muscles should be, but if you are worried, I'd get him swimming...excellent for building muscles without any stress to the hips. And being a goldie I'm sure he loves water. Hope it's nothing serious. -
both my dogs hated hills science when we tried it (j/d). Refused to eat it - eventually i mixed it in with other food just to get rid of it!

outatime replied to a topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
it may be good for them but neither of mine could stand hills j/d...tried tinned and dry. The first tin I opened, I took one smell and thought uh oh, they not gonna like this...they hated it!!! took forever to get through it all -
Possible Dengenerative Myelopathy? Hip Dysplasia?
outatime replied to rivergem's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
and definitely wont show anything associated with DM as there is no diagnosis for it. -
Possible Dengenerative Myelopathy? Hip Dysplasia?
outatime replied to rivergem's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
DM has a slow onset... so if he suddenly went lame, its probably not DM. Google 'jack flash gsd' and you will find a wealth of info on DM. Have a look at the symptoms - they usually start with back end weakness and knuckling (for example). Feel free to PM me if you need any help - I lost my dog a month ago from suspected DM. I hope I'm right that your dog doesn't have it. -
Holy Moley that is wierd!! Let us know what the vet says!!!
-
if only the froggy were a sign of good hips, but believe me it isn't Here's Jessie at 8 weeks old.... we had to put her to sleep a month ago. Her back legs were totally gone. Specialist told us she had one of the worst cases of hip dysplasia he had ever seen

sorry to hijack the thread (its chicken related so probably no point in starting a new thread) Is there any part of the chicken they should not eat? I know the drumstick has that long needle type bone - I'm guessing this is a no no? Also, wings, frames necks etc....raw only? my mum has always fed our dogs and has always refused to give any bones to them. I'm getting a puppy in about 6 weeks or so, so need to find out about all this!

so sorry for your loss Kazz, give some extra cuddles to Wellie RIP Wiggs ...run free
-
very tough situation Kazz. Whatever the right choice is, I seriously believe your OH parents need to make that final decision. Especially if pts is it. I can think of nothing worse happening whilst away (or, for that matter, being in your situation while someone else is away), but please speak to them first. In fact, even if surgery is the way to go, they need to know first. 15 years is a long time and he is probably like a child to them. I don't think you mentioned whether or not they were contactable?

I'm getting a puppy soon, so starting to look into this now. im confused lol, is the cap per year ie restarts each year/when premium is paid? ie $6000 for one illness for one year. If in the next year the illness continues, are you eligable for a further $6000 in claims? or $6000 and thats it for that illness?

Dna Test For Degenerative Myelopathy
outatime replied to Lablover's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
thanks for the link, I'll be keeping an eye on any future developments with DM. My Collie girl Who was pts about a month ago had suspected DM - I can't say it would have been nice to know for sure, but it would have been better than simply having a 'suspected' case -
Bella, I am so so sorry for your loss. Know that you made the most selfless sacrifice you could for him and that one day you will be reunited with him. I hope he meets my Jessie up there. Run free Asher
