  1. Thanks for that - I really appreciate hearing you have had positive experiences with them
  2. Hi guys, So I've got my lovely Spike booked in to stay at Kepala Pet Resort next week for a 6 night stay. This will be the first time I've left him in a boarding kennel since I adopted him from the Lost Dogs Home 4 years ago (he was 8 weeks old at that time). I booked Kepala months ago on the recommendation of two work colleagues and have never doubted it is one of the best facilities available here in Melbourne. However, I suppose the stress of leaving him for the first time is starting to build up in me and I just wanted to hear from anyone here who has had any prior experiences with Kepala (I've got Spike booked into one the Boutique Suites but would appreciate hearing from anyone whose used the Resort at all). I'm just so worried that he'll feel he's been abandoned again when I leave him there - he's never spent more than a couple of hours alone and has always had someone around him at all other times (he's a 100% inside dog). So guys - any reviews and/or suggestions of how I can reduce his (and my) stress, both leading up to next week and once we come home again would be so welcomed (e.g. is it a good idea for me to take him out there this weekend to familiarise him with the surrounds or should i go by myself; how do I go about re-acclimatising him to our normal routine when our trip is over??) Thanks in advance,
  3. Thanks for your thoughtful post. I am particularly confused that he seemed to be getting better and has now gone backwards - maybe a different type of antibiotic would sort it out. Fingers x'ed that works and there is nothing else underlying this...
  4. Last Wednesday night, my puppy began crying and yelping when I gave him his dinner. He was obviously not a happy boy and woke up several times during the night whimpering. I took him to the vets the next morning and (under anaesthetic) discovered that his tonsils were quite inflamed (apparently nearly double their normal size). He was given an anti-inflammatory/painkiller shot and has been on antibiotics since. Up until yesterday, he appeared to be getting stronger and happier (no more yelping, back to eating and drinking normally). Then last night, he woke through the night yelping again and is yelping when he tries to eat or bark or drink and thus is avoiding all three. In addition, he's mopey and very sleepy. I'm taking him back to the vet in the morning, but I just wanted to see if anyone here has had a puppy with tonsillitis in the past. There is so little on the internet about it and I just want to hear from anyone else whose been through it (need to know he's going to be OK even though the vet reassured me he would be!). Also is there any reason he'd take a dive after appearing to be responsive to antibiotics originally?
