She Vomitted Up Something That She Ate 3 Months Ago...
Caesars mum replied to megan_'s topic in General Dog Discussion
are you sure that she hasn't found it from a hiding spot and eaten in the last day or so, I cant see how anything plastic could survive in a dogs stomach. having KC may have her off he food, when my 3 got it, one was fine with a bit of a cough, one was coughing hard enough to bring back up food but still eating well and one wouldn't eat as they kept bringing back food and felt ill enough not to want to eat. if she is not distressed you could wait till monday and have her checked, but if she is in pain or not doing business it might be safer to have her checked today. good luck, and I hope they both get well soon. -
Trialing & Nala would love to come out to a show, especially to see Red and you we are home most the day tomorrow if you want to drop around and meet Danny, I will just be mowing and cleaning maybe

Good to see Ralph is back on the juice, and Red is getting used to his low loader ways. I really do envy you getting to show him, he is so handsome, he makes me want to show again.

yep application fee, then annual fee $172 plus each dogs rego and if you move you have to go through the entire process again as it is on the property not the owner, you cant transfer them so a real pain when you rent. All dogs must be desexed so rego is about $40 a year each.

Breed Suggestions For A Child/teenage Owner
Caesars mum replied to Jodi1981's topic in General Dog Discussion
I was thinking a whippet or Italian Greyhound, they are are great size and lovely soft nature -
the book will be great tribute to the big man, and I can imagine how hard it is to pick which ones make it and which ones don't. I wish Nala would take her photo duties more seriously, she hates to co-operate when it comes to photos

good to see Red is settling in to his new job that walk must have been so hard, but very healing and have Red with you must have given you such strenght. love the pictures of the 2 boys with there bunny ears Red seems so cool with wearing them, I got a bit tearing myself at seeing Rocco, he left very big paw prints on a lot of hearts.

if you are after fats you could cook up lamb flaps, I do this for Caesar, as he has no kibble due to MCT. I dice it up and cook it over night with pumpkin and then put it through the food processor, and freeze it down. he loves it.

What breed? Pug How old was the dog? nearly 4 years old Was there a familial component? Not that we knew of. What was the dog being fed? Need some detail of what exactly - if dry food, which one, if raw, what it was Dog Roll and raw How often was he fed? Once daily or more? 2 times a day Was his bowl elevated, or on the ground? Bowl was at ground level What was he doing when he bloated? (ie, at a show, at home, playing, at home alone) Home, sleeping to my knowledge Has he bloated more than once? I was at work and she passed away, I found her when I returned from work. Has he had a gastrowhatsit? LOL (too lazy to look it up, but you'll know ) No

"the Sooner The Better" What Sort Of A Comment Is That?
Caesars mum replied to Pepi's topic in General Dog Discussion
I can never understand people who profess to be animal lovers/carers who can not understand our love and devotion to our animals wellbeing. they make me sad when they seem to think that our dogs are a disposible commodity and if it is broken, then repalce it. I hope the tough times get easier for you. -
we had a flea problem a few years back, and they said it was because it was so dry, who knows. anyway I found Advantix on the dogs worked and then I sprayed the yard with a product called Pigeon's pest controller 500 termiticide and insecticide. you need to keep the dogs away while it drys but works a treat. I have used the comfortis and it seems to work well as we have no fleas but Nala and Caesar are itchy and I have to wonder if it is the comfortis doing it so am going back to advantix. I like the idea of comfortis as it is not effecgted by washing the dogs or swimming as it is internal.

As your bitch is a giant breed I would be waiting as long as possible, if you have the facilities to protect her from dogs I would wait until she is 12 months.or older. I had Nala done at 6 months and I often wonder if this effected her growth as she is tall in the rear and shorter in the front. I would ask the breeder when her mother and grandmaother first come into season and try to hold out closer to that age, if you feel that a dog could get to her if she was in season.

I use the black weed matting from bunnings along the fence to block my dogs seeing the neighbours works a treat and cheap

today was the hardest day of my life, I lost a friend who looked to me to look after him and take care of him, he was with us for such a short time and we loved him so much. today Olmpus was diagnosed with stomach cancer and was given a poor prognosis, and when i spoke one on one at the surgery they could not say if he would even make it off the table. I spent an hour with him, telling him I loved him and that he was breaking my heart, but at the bridge he could chase all the SWF and cats he wanted to, and that they had lamb for dinner every night, his favourite. Told him that Mega would be there to meet him and to tell her we are ok and that she was not to boss him around, but look after him and be his snuggle bunny as he was ours. I told him that there was a special someone who was waiting for him and would give him all the cuddles and let him drool on her when ever he wanted too, she will be there for him with open arms and lots of love and kisses. I held him in my arms and sat with him while he drifted off to sleep and onto the bridge, he was so peaceful and looked at me with eyes full of love and devotion, I caressed him and held him tight in my arms. we had such a short time with Olympus, but he saw new things and made new friends we went to the beach and he played in the water, he meet dogs at the park of every colour and breed he learned to love car trips and would sit up and check out the people in the other cars he would try to get in the bath with Caesar and Nala, who would happily swap places with him and let him have there bath and he would have obliged. I will miss his happy face when I got home from work and he would follow me everywhere and nudge/nip me on the bum until I stopped and gave him cuddles and pats. I will miss the slingers on the lounge room walls and not being able to see out the car windows for drool. We are given such a huge responsibilty to look after them and make the right decisions for them, to do our best to keep them safe and let them know they are loved and sometimes to make choices that leave us broken and feeling defeated, but it is best for them, to be pain free and in a better place then we can provide them. To Lesley, Frank, John and Jim thank you for blessing me with this very special man, I'm sorry he had such a short time with us. I hope and pray he was happy here because we feel blessed to have had him and broken to have lost him so soon. Lesley, thank you for all your help today, I could not have been as strong without your devotion and strength.

thanks guys appreciate the support Olympus had similar episode 3 weeks ago when he just stopped eating for 3 days, no vomiting, vet thought/hoped it was just gastro and gave him antibiotis and then when little improvement and bloods showed up nothing they gave a shot of Vitamin B and steriod and he started eating again and was eating and gaining back the lost weight, then friday morning he was sick again.

the vet just called Olympus has to stay in hospital over night, they want to re do his ultrasound in the morning as he had a drink of water before we went and it is shadowing several areas. I was surprised they said his stomach is so full, because he only had a small drink for him before we went. His xrays were all clear and organs are all good, but he does have fluid outside his stomach that has them concerned. please send him lots of healing vibes, I'm beside myself with worry, I have never had to leave a fur kid in hospital for the night.
-
I'm back from the vet, they referred him on to a specialist vet for ultrasound and xrays, he is there now, I stayed for a while but they sent me home as it will be a while before they do the chest xray and they want to re-ultrsound his stomach as he had a drink just before we went. His kidneys are fine, and urine test is good. so now I wait

Help people, Olympus is vomiting green bile, we have a vet appointment at noon but they said to bring him in earlier if it didn't settle so heading off soon. a couple of weeks ago he stopped eating and it took a week to get him back onto food, he was doing well after 3 trips to the vet and blood tests and vitamin b shot and antacids. he was doing so well, but yesterday morning threw up his breakfast and has not eaten since and is vomiting everytime he has water. anyone with ideas as to what could be the problem
