  1. On her chest white with red speckles, on her feet towards toes white with red looking speckles. Along her back and tail in almost a strip black marking. Started out on her tail as a black dot but then the dot has turned to almost a black strip on her tail.
  2. Sorry but more questions, I have just had a look at the profile on the dog breed section for Australian Cattle dog, Holly is generally solid tan, with some cattle markings on feet (what I think they look like), smooth coat - not rough or corse, plus she has big floppy ears and a black section running down her back and along her tail. I wish I could post a picture of her so we could play guess the breed but I havn't managed to compress my photo small enough to attach it.
  3. This may seem like a silly question, but my dog is a rescue dog, I was lead to beleive when i got her that she was bull mastif x rotti. Both my husband and my first vet noticed cattle markings. A different vet today said that he would guess that she is mainly a red cattle. I have just been looking at dog breeds and can find Australian stumpy cattle dog - is that the same. I am trying to find out information on my breed of dog so I can get a better idea of how to work with her.
  4. Puppy has short hair but is shedding. I use a flea comb on her but it doesn't seem to be pulling the hair out. What else can I do, should I use the comb against the hair to pull it out.
  5. I am surprised that she didn't poo on the floor
  6. Holly was due for her next lot of vaccinations, so booked appointment and put her into ute, made sure she was safe and sound. She wet herself on the way, then when I was getting her out of ute, pee'd on me. I also had my toddler with me, so I was hoping to walk Holly on the leash and use my other hand to hold my toddler as vet is on a highway. No such luck, Holly planted her butt and wouldn't move no matter what I did, so the vet came out to give me a hand, he had to carry her in she currently weighs approx 15kg. She then pee'd on him and the table. Once she received her needles, time to leave he gave me a hand to carry her out, she wouldn't walk. Whilst I was putting my toddler in car, she crawled under my car and wouldn't come out. I have to take her back to vet next week for desexing........I am so not looking forward to this.
  7. Thanks Erny, I was hoping that someone else would jump in. Yep, food becomming a bribe my dog acts perfectly when she can smell food, and turns her head the other way when she can't.
  8. I am very happy with my vet, she takes a lot of time to check my dog, explain things and even if needed correct the way that I am interacting with my dog. I can ring her with any concerns (live out of town) and she will give me guidance. The only problem is that my dog hates her.
  9. Ha ha I won, brought a XXL kong, black and packed her dinner in it, no choice but to get use to using it.
  10. I love my puppy very much, but she differently hasn't made life easy...........hope she grows into a wonderfull dog and lives a very very very long time.
  11. Grrh, I don't remember my last puppy ever doing this. My puppy is starting to make my toddler look like a saint.
  12. Holly is 5 1/2 months old, no longer likes to come when called, sits down and you can just see her thinking "in your dreams" , she has started riping my washing off clothes line - great game of tug a war on a grand scale......can't wait untill she is two. She is off to get needles this afternoon and desexed next week, that should slow her down for a couple of days.
  13. The worst part, not just any sheets - I just brought new curtains, quilt cover and matching sheets for my daughters room as she is unwell to cheer her up, and yep they where her new sheets...........grrrhh
  14. I have a rescue puppy which I am experiencing problems with, mouthing my two year old, jumping on both the two year old and four year old causing ripped clothes and gravel rash to the two year old. I have tried to locate Jane Harper (google search, plus tried an email address) but no luck. I live in Queensland in Mackay can you please let me know if you aware of any trainers, behaviourist in this area that you would recommend.
  15. I have never toliet trained a dog, but if it is like a toddler it takes heaps of patience, time and rewards......good luck
  16. I hope she likes her kennel, I have a young family so I wash daily, and I always use the clothes line.
  17. Hopefully I will explain this right. The way that I do it is, to use a food reward held slightly above puppies eye height when standing and slowley move the treat back towards them over their head whilst lowering it forcing them to sit, and then give the reward, heaps of praise. But whilst doing this ensure that you are saying sit. You will need to train puppy regularily for short periods to reinforce. When ready to teach drop, put puppy into sit (once you have mastered this) and move treat forward towards but in a downward motion forcing puppy to drop, once again make sure you say drop and heaps of praise. When using this technique the idea is to get the dogs head to follow the treat slowerly forcing the puppies body to follow to get the desired result. Hope this helps.
  18. Sorry can't help with the toliet training but what about a kong for the chewing so that way he will get the reward of food for chewing it rather than your other items.
  19. My 5 1/2 month puppy, breed unknown rescue puppy but we have had her for approx 6 weeks now has started to play tug of war with my washing whilst hanging on the line. Today is the first time she has done it, but has ripped my brand new set of sheets up (I am fumming to say the least), she has toys to play with, bones plus I had only been outside with her no more than 15 minutes earlier. How do I correct this behaviour?
  20. Try testing the heat of the surface that you are walking on, has it held the heat from the day. My sister lives in very hot area and was walking of a night but the road surface was still to hot to walk on bare foot.
  21. Made special trip to town to buy a Kong for my puppy, stuffed it full last night, froze it, gave it to her today all she did was lick it a couple of times and burried it. No interest shown in digging it up. The only person entained by it was me whilst stuffing it.......
  22. Just brought a kong for Holly, she is a puppy (large breed) so I have gotten a red medium one.........looking at the size of it, I think I am going to have to upgrade soon but it was all I could get, Hope she likes it just made 1 1/2 hour trip to get it.
  23. Holly is 5 months old and to start with I was giving her to much fruit causing her to have the runs, so I cut her fruit out but the problem has started again. I just discovered that my four year old daughter throws her fruit out the door when she has had enough when I am not looking and generally the puppy eats it before I notice. Only problem is today she did it with a banana and Holly doesn't like banana.....hence I walked out the door and stepped in it.
  24. I also gonna make the iceblocks for summer.
