Thanks Jess....I'll put it in the herding thread to start with and go from there! So you'll pm me your details as being interested then???? Remember it's only an expression of interest - not written in stone!! Maybe if we get this club up n running you'll get your chance to go for your HIT one day! 'C' course is European style herding (tending)- particularly suited to GSDs where they have to guard the crops from the sheep... amongst other duties! The only thing not included is the protection test and gripping the sheep. Theresa

Hi Jess, Yes, we thought it was about time South Western Vic had a chance to show what it could do with sheep :D:D Having to travel to the other side of Melbourne and beyond sux when we have good trainers, lots of sheep and land etc down here! We purely want to know if there is an inerest out there first. No use getting full into it if no-one is interested. Details (costs-when -etc) will be worked out once we had an idea of numbers and what courses they wanted to learn about, eg., I'm interested in 'C' course, but if no one else is interested, then there is no use organizing someone to teach 'C' course at a clinic. I'll just have to watch everyone else!!!!! The whole aim is to raise funds to get a herding club up and running. The details for that are being worked out now. Still lots of people to talk to and paperwork to do! If you could help pass the word, we would really appreciate it. I'd hate to see a chance go by! :D Maybe I should post it out in the herding thread too in case we don't have enough interest from Western Vic people? Theresa
-
At this stage we are only trying to gauge interest for a clinic, but to answer your questions... 1. The clinic will be for beginners, so no experience necessary. 2. Yes it needs to be of a herding breed or herding breed cross - as per ANKC rules 3.Denise is planning on using one of 2 properties around blackgate road - just out of Geelong. Tenties will know Blackgate road as she used to live down that way many years ago. and my property is now covered in her unwanted agapanthas Theresa

Hi all, I have some exciting news for Herding enthusiasts in South West -Vic. We are hoping to run a herding clinic to raise funds to get a herding club up and running for South Westerners.... If you can help spread the word we would really appreciate it! EPRESSIONS_OF_INTEREST.pdf I hope the attachment works. Theresa

Has your vet checked for allergy? I've had two of mine to the Vet for yucky eyes this week (sometimes one eye is worse than the other, sometimes both - and its very thick and snotty looking). He seems to think they are suffering from an allergy (probably pollen or somesuch from our/our neighbours trees). Both are looking much better since changing eye ointment. Just a thought Theresa

Not much going on here for New Years either. Been out for a walk with the dogs this morning through the bush reserve down the road. You should see how high the vegetation is...I reckon it would be at least 3-4 feet high, maybe more in places and the council have the cheek to send us all reminders to keep OUR grass short!!!! I dare not walk off track over there in case I come across a slippery sam! Reckon you'd be in snake heaven there JJ. I remember a couple of years ago, a snake caused a great deal of angst when he decided to take the scenic routeup the main street footpath. If I'd seen it I would have been up the nearest phone pole. :D Think I'll bed the dogs, cats, sheep, and chooks down for the night and see what's on the TV. ;) Theresa

This was Bart as a little tacker Theresa
-
Well, as far as Bart goes, your guess is as good as any. I do recall the shearer telling us what he 'probably' was, as did a couple of farmers, but being blonde.....I've forgotten We just refer to him as the 'stud ram'.... :D Bucky on the other hand is a Damara (fat tail) sheep - according to his former breeder/owner. His mum is regular colouring, but because Bucky is Black/white, he was heading to the great sheep paddock in the sky when we saw him - so he now lives at the funny farm with all the other 'new, used, and abused'..... PS.... Alf (mr. pug lady's husband) sheared him (and de-loused him sp??) for us before he came home in case he passed on anything to the stud ram! :D Theresa
-
Thanks tlc. We got one of Buck and Bart with them on too....they are our sheep! Soooo cute! Theresa post it up, I'd love to see Baaaaaa Sheepies in the xmas spirit! Better seeing them in the Xmas Spirit than on the Xmas BaaaaaaBaaaaaaQ :D And GSD's, there is no competition running about what i bought for myself ????????? I'm not even going to acknowledge that first comment And if its not a competition....was I right???????????????????????????????????????????? Theresa

The photo was just a matter of timing. The first time she ran off, so the next time Terry stood next to her holding the antlers and when I said 'now' he let go and I snapped. The antlers were actually her grandfathers (Peppi), but I never did get a photo with them on him. Poor Vegas....the things I make her do - bad mother!!!! Right - o Tenties....I'm still waiting to know if I won??????? Theresa
-
Depends....did I win? Never thought Veg was posing...she was doing a lot of talking though! Theresa
-
I'm still here. Just been busy with Xmas, animals etc, etc...... Hope everyone had a terrific X'mas and may you all have a great New Year. I took the pic of Vegas at Christmas (hope it works). I'd like to think she's saying HO-HO-HO...but I reckon it might be 'get these f****** things off me, I feel like a fool Tenties have you bought yourself a portable BBQ? Theresa

An Australian Night Before Christmas 'Twas the night before Christmas; there wasn't a sound. Not a possum was stirring; no-one was 'round. We'd left on the table some tucker and beer, hoping that Santa Claus soon would be here; We children were snuggled up safe in our beds, while dreams of pavlova danced 'round in our heads; and Mum in her nightie, and Dad in his shorts, had just settled down to watch TV sports. When outside the house a mad ruckus arose; Loud squeaking and banging woke us from our doze. We ran to the screen door, peeked cautiously out, sneaked onto the deck, then let out a shout. Guess what had woken us up from our snooze? but a rusty old ute pulled by eight mighty 'roos. The cheerful man driving was giggling with glee, and we both knew at once who this plump bloke must be. Now, I'm telling the truth it's all dinki-di, those eight kangaroos fairly soared through the sky. Santa leaned out the window to pull at the reins, and encouraged the 'roos, by calling their names. 'Now, Kylie! Now, Kirsty! Now, Shazza and Shane! On Kipper! On, Skipper! On, Bazza and Wayne! Park up on that water tank. Grab a quick drink, I'll scoot down the gum tree. Be back in a wink!' So up to the tank those eight kangaroos flew, with the ute full of toys, and Santa Claus too. He slid down the gum tree and jumped to the ground, then in through the window he sprang with a bound. He had bright sunburned cheeks and a milky white beard. A jolly old joker was how he appeared. He wore red stubby shorts and old thongs on his feet, and a hat of deep crimson as shade from the heat. His eyes - bright as opals - Oh! how they twinkled! and, like a goanna, his skin was quite wrinkled! His shirt was stretched over a round bulging belly which shook when he moved, like a plate full of jelly. A fat stack of prezzies he had flung from his back, and he looked like a swaggie unfastening his pack. He spoke not a word, but bent down on one knee, to position our goodies beneath the yule tree. Surfboard and footy-ball shapes for us two. and for Dad, tongs to use on the new barbeque. A mysterious package he left for our Mum, then he turned and he winked and he held up his thumb; He strolled out on deck and his 'roos came on cue; Flung his sack in the back and prepared to shoot through. He bellowed out loud as they swooped past the gates - 'MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, and goodonya, MATES!' MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! ;) Theresa and all at 'CAMNUSCH'

Hi all, Just catching up on the news. Sorry to hear about your losses Tenties. It's always sad when ONE little-one doesn't make it, let alone 3. Loved the nickname (tlc?) gave the little liver boy - 'liver treat'.... Reckon I'd have a heart attack if a liver turned up in my lines Don't really know what colours are acceptable in your breed though Why don't you like them? Sounds like it all went well tlc and you're off and running. Hey Jess...hope all went well at the lecture thingy and you learnt heaps. Was there any practical stuff or was it all theory? Hi Lizzy - welcome. I think that covers just about everything! :D PS...BTW Tenties....regarding the cake(s) for Feb show???? A nice selection from the cheesecake shop should do Just being helpful And green tea DOES NOT taste like...what did you compare it to? Stale tobacco or something???? Me thinks you're missing the fags Theresa
-
Great news tlc....keep us posted! Now that's an idea Tenties. I didn't realize it wasn't until Feb. Jut checked Terry's roster and it looks like he's got those days off, so looking good so far. :D I'm sure he'd look after the fur kids if I stay overnight. As for the milk & cake...warm milk is only for night-time because it helps put me to sleep, and the ONLY reason I have milk during the day (which has to be COLD by the way - preferably with ice :D ) is because we need more calcium as we get older... with arthritis and all The cake.....well, that's to keep blood sugar at the right levels of course :D Theresa
-
hope everything went O.K tlc.... :D Can someone tell me when the show is on? Maybe if Terry is on days off and PUGLVR is heading down with her lot for the day (depending on her little 4? week old black pug puppy- a singleton from her last litter), I might be able to visit for the day and say G'day! Pity I have to drive.... some of those milk drinks and a nice piece of cake would hit the spot nicely :D Theresa
-
Sorry, didn't need the quote part.....!!!!! Andisa, do you know a friend of mine that breeds Pugs? I think she calls herself PUGLVR on this forum, and she lives in Winchelsea? Theresa

Hi all, Just wanted to say thanks for your kind words about Dad. I was so glad Tenties got up to help me with the cloth thingy over the coffin I thought the service etc was excellent and I really enjoyed my milk and cake afterwards as I'm sure Tenties did too Congratulations on your title Jess - may there be many more to come Back to catching up on all the posts - jeez you lot can talk!!! Theresa

It's not looking good for us at this stage Jess, although I did put an entry in. Maybe I'll still get there to cheer you on though! Did you get to Port Fairy? Hey Tenties....I'm going past tomorrow on the way to mums (and visit dad). I'll head off to Port Fairy on Sunday morning for the working dog trials . Will you be home late tomorrow (Sat) morning/early afternoon if I call in for a cuppa? I'll be trailer free! Theresa

Ahhhh, now I can see the mix, especially the Cocker part! They look like a lot of work to groom and keep clean though Hmmmmmmm - If I get a badge for being a member for nearly 30 years, wonder if I'll get one for nearly 40 years? :D Hey tenties....have you got one yet? Theresa
