Grooming A Stafforshire Bull Terrier For Showing
fbc replied to Loves Dogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
So one nice looking bitch out of how many blues? Surely the blues can pull out more examples than just the one.? I'm genuinely interested in seeing them. Any chance of some photos please? One of the nicest blues Ive ever seen is Koendida Blue Diamond...I believe she has a profile on here http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=23257 ETA Staffy Lover just looked at your boy he does look quite nice...for a blue I would also like to see more well bred/constructed blues as I do quite like them.....but then I also like black and tan -
Seems fair although the dog droppings may be hard to police. Might be enough to deter people from being lazy though

After having first hand just dealt with a similar situation myself I think that councils need to take some more resposibilty as well. I dont think it should be as easy as just declaring an area off lead. I think that maybe some supervision at least during high trafic times would be a great improvement. I also think that like KCC park there should be specific areas for smaller dogs as IMO alot of bigger dogs could cause harm or trauma to small dogs just in rough play unintentionally. Limiting the number of dogs allowed at 1 time & per handler would also be an idea to consider, perhaps even taking bookings for times allowed. I like the ideas of off-lead parks but there is still alot of work to go into getting the mix right IMO.

Staffords: 206 - 220 Total entries: 695 Thanks Elfin

Can anyone with a catalogue give me the start and finish numbers for Staffords please Oh and also the last number thanks eg was it over 750 or not.....thanks ;)
-
I like the idea but i think a 24 hour check in would proove to be more reliable. Also perhaps a site that specifies the area instead of relying on Melbourne temps. Are they going to get AC at KCC park then?? I think the clubs should have the option to delay the start/make a twilight show rather than just cancel. I also dont think the VCA should still get their fees when its a cancelation but the judges should. Maybe some of the clubs based around Bendigo MIGHT be able to look at using the indoor arena we have here if its feasable.

Would alot of GCH dogs even be neutered and if so would they be of a young enough age that they wouldt have lost some of their confirmation/teeth movement etc to make them so hard to beat now? IMO if I had a DOG that had titled to its grand I most likely wouldnt have it neautered as it would still be capable of breeding (all going well of course ) I can imagine you may get more bitches perhaps as they would not be in such demand for breeding. I personally I wonder if perhaps a Novice class that you could only enter perhaps 20 times when you initially begin showing would be a good idea in regards to attracting newcomers? I agree that any neutered dog should be judged as evenly as a non n eutered dog it is still a confirmation class Oh maybe even a topsy ring...we had them in horse showing it could include classes similar to sweepstakes maybe colour based handler age etc to include a more relaxed and fun aspect to some shows....I do realise that alot of specialty shows already have similar clases.

I cant remember which one,it is the same weekend as the canberra royal  Yay maybe its the Bendigo show......see it does pay to stay local BB I will be the wierd stalker lady looking for Bloodhound babies now
-
I use egg cup foam as it is good for the babies when learning to walk. I put it inside a queen sized quilt cover and wrap it over a few times. I find that by wrapping it in the quilt cover the foam stays dry. Once the babies are walking I put a smaller piece of foam in the box for sleeping on and the rest is newspaper for doing their business on. I clean the foam by soaking it in a delete solution and leaving it out to dry, only takes a few hours in this weather. Leanne It should help with preventing flat chests and swimmer pups also

They did have one obviously they needed to make it louder and clearer as it was quite disapointing
-
 Must say I was disapointed by the number of people who didnt bother to either stand or remain silent at Ballarats dog show today There were several announcements over the PA...maybe the people right up the back didnt hear but as for the people around grp 1 & 2 ring you have no excuse.
-
WOOHOO well done miss Berry OUR Griffon is doing well isnt she :D Well done Cathy, she is having a great run lately. Even though she knocks me out regularly when we go up for group :D she has some stunning dogs and is a deserving winner.

I wouldn't be too worried about it, there are plenty of us little fish out there, who are still competitive, without the spending big $$$$ or dragging dogs around the country 52 weeks a year. Enjoy your dog and enjoy your time in the ring. Good Call there SBT
