what a handsome man he was (nubian?) Hugs to you & your family, goats are such affectionate and funny guys, so much of them to miss fifi

He was a lovely old boy GB, a gentle and loving old man. Eat chocolate, paint, wander in the garden...you'll feel him out there too..... Here's Blake doing what he did best...just being there in Beth's beautiful garden with a big smile fifi

Don't disappear ! just remember that as many breeders as there are...that's how many different diets & opinions you'll get :D Your girl's breeder should be a good source of dietry advice, they will know their own lines and what works. I agree with not using any calcium supplements during pregnancy though, your bitch's own body will recognise the supplement and possibly supress or reduce her natural production, you don't want hypo-calcaemia. do you have some good books on whelping & rearing of litters ? fifi edited for spelling

no wasn't me ! but a few gundogs and show gear were lifted with surprising agility by those women fifi

 Ah yes, I've seen a few showring spats end in the carpark !!! Always reminds me of the 'behind the shelter shed' punch up after school The most recent was a gobsmacking display of middle aged women screaming at each other as they hurled their respective dogs & gear into station wagons and sped off wishing each other wrapped around a tree fifi

Odin, they are called 'De-Gas' the one's we buy are in the medication area of the supermarket. fifi
-
http://www.iwclubofamerica.org/ER_info.htm#Bloat Odin, although specific for Irish Wolfhounds, the symptoms and description of bloat / gastric torsion are very good. We also have on hand De-Gas capsules available at the supermarket, and will give some if we think a dog's tummy is very rumbly / gasy. But we are off to the vet if the tummy / abdomen is taut, swelling or the dog is in discomfort, won't settle ect. We don't feed after excercise, and after their meal our dogs are put to bed for the night & checked before we go to bed. fifi

How are they this morning Woody ? totally agree with Angelsun, rock hard stools can also indicate a need for fluids. There's uncomfortable/firm stools, and then there is solid - and that is fluid intake time. I would also give them some protexin, and make sure the whelping area isn't too hot. fifi
-
So difficult to know without being there woody, if they are in a lot of distress then it might be an idea to phone your vet for advice. If they are eating, moving and sleeping normally, then you could just monitor them for the rest of the night and vet if needed. sometimes being layed across a very thickly wrapped / well insulated hot water bottle will relax their tummies. fifi

Have you tried to toilet them yourself with a wet warm flannel ? they might need a little extra stimulation. Bitches milk changes as they grow, so it might just be that. But check each nipple for healthy looking milk just in case. if they are really constipated you might need to check with your vet & give a small amount of a gentle oil orally. I don't like giving oil though. wouldn't hurt to give them some protexin as well. I have had a couple I've had to give a gentle warm water enema too, and one that needed a tiny amount of the enema paste from the vet. (they were on formula) Are they colicy too ? fifi edited for tired brain..
