  1. I've been following this thread and am so sad for your family and your wee Bailey Owey. I hope through this others can learn, some less committed breeders wake up and that the wonderful Border Collie folk that have been there for you, become your mentors & one day the path to a healthy baby when you are ready. fifi
  2. I am so sad about your Dad Beauie, I hope he & your Mum are re-united. He was a funny, talented and lovely man fifi
  3. oh Wags, I saw Riley's name and hoped it wasn't your Riley. Hugs from here. run & play free Riley fifi xxx
  4. Oh KitKat I'm so sorry, I had no idea you had lost Sabre. Hugs hugs from all of us. fifi
  5. Oh that is so sad, I remember James. Good vets are like precious gems. condolences to all who knew & treasured him fifi
  6. I think for those people who feel its a single breed issue or doesn't affect them or their own breed(ing), this is the crux of the issue that should be addressed. fifi
  7. Oh Rozzie, I only just read this thread, I'm so very sad for Sarge & your entire family. fifi
  8. Meea, they might be talking about the DNA testing for X-breeding. I'm only talking about DNA recording for pedigrees, as is done with import / export. fifi
  9. oh well, here I was thinking that trusted pedigrees and breed integrity were important fifi
  10. Not heard that before Meea, I only mean purebred parantage recording for pedigrees and import / export, not testing for x-breeding. I'd love more info on this if you have it. fifi
  11. agreed Liz, and its not just the people in one breed, wether they be passionate or disinterested in this particular chain of events. It opens the doors to every ANKC breed registered in VIC. If a precedent is set, what's to stop other breeds falling to the same issue ? fifi ETA: just to note, I'm expressing my personal opinion, I havn't been one of those working / campaigning, there have been many others doing the hard yards - but I feel it has importance in terms of the corruption of pedigrees / breeding.
  12. Lilli, I guess if we are going to look at it that way, why bother with pedigrees, registration at all. What it does is corrupts pedigrees and the breed. Yes, most wolfhound folk know who/what now, but down the track those pedigrees will be behind newer breeders. Of course we know that around the world not every dog written on a pedigree is 100% guaranteed to the sire/dam !! But one would hope to trust ethical breeders. DNA testing is the way to go. fifi
  13. In total agreement with you Rebanne. fifi
  14. No Liz, its VICdogs way of covering up a scandal & not addressing it.

  19. lordy I wish that evil gnome would fall under a bus full of oodle breeders.
  20. Not looking great for the WDS in 2013, hope no one here has any import / pedigree problems. Thanks for posting that SSM, we don't know how lucky we are...even though our system is far from perfect. fifi
  21. You could fasten shade cloth or wire mesh across the entire roof of the run just in case. fifi
  22. I am, but I was giving you a suggestion to save wrestling with the giant box and having to store it. If I can get a fibreglass one that breaks down I would be first in line  :D and then phone, email and FB me !!! fifi
  23. Yes, the melamine is a good idea, but I thought you were asking for fibreglass whelping box ideas in this thread ?
  24. Yeah, I know, its a shame because wrestling the big boxes is quite an event  and storage is a bugger too. fifi
  25. I like a super large one, which of course brings issues with storage, breaking it dragging from shed to house and with height of the sides I'd like...even doorway width would be an issue. I'd prefer smooth for ease of disinfecting. A bi-fold door would be good for bitch & then later puppy access. heating is more an issue for us than cooling, high reinforced sides (reinforced for us as we sit in the box (leaning / slumping against the wall for support !!) and for the size / weight of our breed) I'm thinking around 80cm in height, which should fit sideways through most doors. 160cm X 120cm length & width would be ideal for me. No holes or pig rails - we don't use them. a shame a huge box couln't be made in two parts ? you could have a molded alloy joining area ? a drain plug for cleaning, solid or curved outward like a hydrobath edges / top to discourage chewing. perhaps the drain plug could also double / be wide enough to allow an electrical plug through for a heat pad ? just some rambling thoughts.
