Madeline would never forgive me if Griffen went on holiday without her

Looking at Griffen right now I'd gladly swap. He's been playing in his paddling pool and has left mud prints all over the cream carpet

My boy has never pee'd on himself but he has horrible aim. Almost never hits the tree or bush he's aiming for but he has gotten my foot by mistake (only once I now stand right back) and a shop assisstents leg (good thing she loves him and laughed it off)

Griffen was doing well to start with he did his first lap just fine, but on the second lap he got water in his ear and tried to shake (thats the third pic) unfortunatly he stoped moving his legs and his head went under. Now he's petrified of water and wont go near the pool. I'm thinking I might buy him his own life jacket and try him at the beach, at least try to get him over his fear, it's a nightmare trying to bath him. It's good to hear stella's doing well. You'll have to put up some photos.

This was griffens first and last swimming attempt

Griffen needs a life jacket if he goes anywhere near water and even then he has trouble keeping his head out. I'll post a couple of pics when I get home from work, he looks pretty funny.

I've been looking into it with Griffen unfortunatly at the moment I dont have the time and need to do more work with Griffens lead work, he's a bit of a puller. I've been interested in this kind of thing for years and found out about Velmas pets through the internet Nicole

I've got a girl who is exactly the same, after months of training I can get her attention when I say Watch but as soon as she's rewarded she'll start looking everywhere else. I've been doing the same training (I've tryed different foods and treats, toys and games) as you so I'll be watching for any advice on what else might work.

Griffy had bad breath for about 2 weeks when he was teething, vet told us it was natural and would go away when all his baby teeth were gone (which it did). But we didn't notice any changes with Maddy.

I'm not sure if it's common with Staffies but my Dogue de bordeaux had the same problem. I used Filta-bac, a sunfilter and antibacterial cream on his ears which cleared the bites up in a few days and a fly repelent to keep them away. Nicole

We wash our boy whenever we go to the carwash.... they've got these funky little hydrobath rooms at the side where, just like the car, it's a DYI coin op thing And I don't mind getting wet because I usually do when I wash the car anyway!

My boy Griffen is going through this now at 10mths... unfortunately he's also just realised that at 55kg, he has a bit of weight behind him if he chooses not to move / sit / GET OFF THE DAMN COUCH!!!

I can't see any mastiff in there, unless there was a bullmastiff x somewhere in the parents, which is quite likley as there are ALOT of bullmastiff x ridgeback x rotti dogs out there. How old is she and how tall is she?

We started our Bordeauxs on Nutrience, but couldn't find a regular supply at the time, so switched to Iams. Our fussy girl gor bored with it so then switched to Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy. That was fine untill they got to about 8mths and the kibble was too small so there was no chewing going on and ALOT of coughing as well as the occasional piece up the nose! Then we switched over to RC Giant Junior as the kibble as MUCH bigger and they love it. After talking to alot of people, we're now feeding a mix of RC Giant Junior and Bonnie Working Dog for the next few months till they hit around 18mths, then we'll look at finding the best adult food for them.

Our boy Griffen had a cherry eye not that long ago. The first Vet we took him to just stood across the room, asked us to make him sit, then muttered something, fiddled on the computer and gave us a quote for $800. He didn't explain which operation he was doing, he never touched the dog or even approached him. It was almost as if he didn't even want the dog in the room. I left there wondering what the hell had happened and what the Op would involve. The second place we went to was recommended by a friend. The vet spent about 15 mins explaining the whole condition, all the various options and what had worked for which breeds in the past. He then gave Griffen a good check up and a nice belly scratch. I left there with a sound idea of what was going to happen. After everything was fixed, the vet called me once a couple of days after and again about 2 weeks after just to make sure all was ok. He even offered to stop by on the way through and check Griff out. I feel much happier knowing my dogs are now being seen by someone who cares about the dogs not just the money.

Most vets I've dealt with have been great (although I'm still looking for just the right one). I own a Dogue de bordeaux and alot of vets and their assistants havent had much to do with the breed and are happy to learn more about them. But last week we took our boy to get a suspected cherry eye checked. The vet we saw didn't want to touch him to examine him, just looked and said I'll get you a quote for the opp. The descrition he gave us of cherry eye was nothing like the ones we've gotten off other breeders/vets and the quote was much hire than expected for this opp. I've learnt from this that vets are like doctors, some are going to be great some just want to get you in and out as quickly as possible. If in doubt always get a second opinion.
