I've done a few classes with Jenni (although not the puppy classes) and I thought she was great, even if she did laugh at Griffen on more than one occation With Griffen I did the regular group classes. With Madeline we did 1 on 1, for about 5 weeks before slowly moving her into the group.

Thanks so much Helen, we had a great time. Griffen flaked it for the rest of the afternoon

No problems with Griffen (3 and a half) touch wood Madeline (4) has Spondylosis.
-
Griffy (ddb) would be more than happy to pose, he's already a calander star (he's been in 3 ddb calanders, I like to brag hehe) I'm in Epping, vic

lol I can now tell my oh it's not just our dog who's a sook. Griffen wont go to sleep unless I sweep his blankets on to his mat (he drags them around the rumpus room during the day) and close the back door. If I decide to go to bed early (9pm) he starts crying at around 10 so he can have his goodnight cuddles.
-
Mine start the night snuggled together but I think Griffen gets too warm as they're always apart inthe morning. They never snuggle during the day, they both have their faverate spots to lie in.

Sorry I cant help but I'm very interested in the replys. Since Madeline has been diagnosed with canine spondylosis I've been looking for a bed for her but so far both her and Griffen have chewed everything. I want to try a snoozer D1000 but OH is worried about spending so much on a bed if they're only going to rip it apart.

I've noticed a few dogs in my street that are aloud to roam free. Most of the time the owners are in the front yard while the dogs in the street but there is one house that lets it's swf out by its self around 6pm. It's followed my partner a few times when he's walking Griffen. It makes me scared to walk either of my dogs, it the street. Luckely I have a large park behind the house so I can see if there's dogs around in time to change direction

Thanks for that showdog. I'm relieved it's something that can be managed. We noticed she was having problems getting up and was randomly yelping when she walked about 4 weeks ago. The vet origanlly thought it was her hips, arthritis or hip dysplasia and had her on Cartrophen injections and tablets. She was xrayed today. I'll buy her a coat this weekend, not sure how I'll go keeping it on her. Would a snoozer bed be ok, between her and my boy they've ripped apart every bed I've gotten them (including a sofa)

I've just found out my 4 year old dogue de bordeaux X boxer Madeline has Canine spondylosis. I've been reading about it on the net but was wondering if anyone has had experence managing this?

Madeline will howl along with ambos but nothing else. Griffen sometimes howls with her but it takes a little longer before he starts. I find it interesting how different they are, Maddy's howl is high and kind of happy. Griffen sounds like he's having trouble getting his howl going but when he does it sounds so sad.

Thanks for that. I've seen this photo a few times and always wondered. I'd been told Mastiff but didn't think that was right.

Hootch from Turner and Hootch It's Griffens faverate movie hehe

Just got back from the vet with an update. The tooth is completely dead but not causing any pain. The vet said if we want to be certain it wont get infected we can get it removed (est of $400 - $450) but since all the other teeth are fine and he's not having any trouble with eating then it can be left as it is.

I hate Alsations. Growing up in the UK, all I heard were bad stories from people who had been bitten by them. Since moving to Australia I've forgotten about them and fallen in love with this German Shepherd breed! They're so clever and athletic and look great! Alot of people believe what they hear without looking into it further. It's the same with other things in life, not just dogs. I loved the idea of moving to Australia because it's always summer here and you have roos in the yard and everyone is friendly! Melbourne shattered my dreams! lol

This event will be used for sensationalism and to grab easy votes. If I tell you every tall leggy blonde female is a crazed killer but if you vote for me I can save you, a large number of people will vote for me! What needs to happen while this is in the spotlight, is for someone to use it as a tool to educate people of the dangers of poorly bred and poorly trained dogs. Promote responsible breeders and introduce tougher penalties for puppy farms and mistreatment of animals. Teach the general populous that for every dog that attacks a person there are thousands that don't, just as for every person who commits murder there are thousands that don't. And for crying out loud, will people PLEASE learn that no matter how many outfits you've put on your dog, no matter how many times you've forced it to sit next to you and watch Dancing With The Stars, a dog is a dog and you should remain aware of this because it's not going to come up to you, tap you on the shoulder and say "Excuse me, sorry to interrupt, but you appear to be A)taking my stuff away, B)a stranger in my house, C)threatening me and it's making me a tad uneasy. If you wouldn't mind terribly, could you pop off so I don't need to get nasty!"

One of Griffens canines was dead, although it was still grey not black. The vet told me it would have to come out eventually but while it's not hurting it's ok to leave it. I was told once a week to tap the tooth with my finger nail, if he doesn't flinch then it's not hurting. Although try doing that with a giant breed who doesn't like having his mouth looked at
-
Thanks everyone. I've been checking the tooth every day to make sure it's not changing. There's still no redness and it doesn't bother him having it touched. I'm going to book him in next week to see what the vet thinks. I've had two vets tell me, when the tooth was whole, that it would have to come out eventually due to being dead, but unless it was causing him problems it could wait. I'll up date when I have more info.
-
Thanks for that, I didn't realise vets would do a quote. I'll give them a call today.

Griffen has broken one of his canine teeth at the gum line. The tooth was already dead and would have had to come out eventually but it looks like it's sooner rather than later. It's not causing him any pain, the gums not red or swollen but I would like to get it out befoer it causes any problems. Unfortunatly this couldn't have come at a worse time, money is really tight. So I was hoping to get an idea of what this would cost so I can budget (and maybe hit up MIL for a loan) Griffens a 55kg dogue de bordeaux if that helps. I've also managed to convince OH that since Griffen has to go under anyway it would be a good to get him de-sexed. Would it increase the cost greatly getting both done at the same time?

I'm so sorry for your loss. He was an amazing boy.

I'm a little late in posting but Griffen turned 3 on Dec 25th. To Celebrate he got a new Wubba and a doggy beer since he's no longer a puppy. Unfortunatly he wasn't impressed with the beer hehe mom do not buy that again Come here little Wubba Maddy finished the beer off for him yum yum Your supposed to only get my good side thats better

I use a furminator on my dogue de bordeaux, it's one of the best things I ever bought. He has a very short coat but this does a much better job of getting the fine hair out.

I've tried a few different head collars with Griffen (DDB) and found the blackdog halter the best.
