I give Hunter a tablespoon of Vaalia natural yoghurt from time to time, he just loves it. No adverse reaction at all.
-
Rest in Peace beautiful Loki girl. I know Hunter will miss you, you showed him how to climb on rocks in the River. Sweet girl run free, I will miss your sweet face.
-
Hunter used to "excited" pee when my dad came over, but now he seems to have grown out of it. It only last about 2 months.
-
Thanks people, I thought it must be soon! Thank god for that, those puppy teeth are damn sharp.
-
As Hunter's are soooo sharp! He is about 4 months old now. Does it vary from breed to breed? or the size of the dog??
-
We have been trying the loud scream, and it works to an extent, till Hunter gets a bit to boisterous, and doesn't listen. If I growl at him, he will usually stop being a loon, and calm down. I also encourage him to chew his toys rather than anything else. This seems to be working quite well.

Jodie Hang in there, my thoughts are with you.
-
no, but I have sure as hell been tempted!! Loki is a real pain in the ass to brush, be keeps wanting to squirm away and run around. Taya is of no help either, she stirs him up, cause she has finished shedding. I have clumps of husky hair everywhere. It would be much neater just to vacuum it straight off the dog, than of the carpet, car and furniture!
-
I have never had a problem with it, and my two have been fed on it all thier lives.
-
Any sort of all natural yoghurt will be fine. I usually give my lot a spoonful of the Vaalia stuff I eat. As for Tuna I don't feed it (I feed sardines) but the ones in olive oil are good too. The oil is great for thier coats.
-
Loki has a "snow nose", a pink strip down the centre of his nose. It's very cute, and goes away in summer. Taya has one too, but only a slight change in colour. Loki's will go quite pink depending on how cold it gets.
-
I feed my two sardines in oil, and thier coats are exceedingly glossy. I call them my Pantene dogs!!! I don't know if the raw eggs contribute to the glossiness, but I feed them that a couple of times a week too.
-
My two have always been fed supercoat, and I usually add a variety of raw food, like chicken, eggs, sardines, and potato every now and then. They both have lovely shiny coats, and are in top condition.
-
I feed my two a raw egg each a couple of times per week. No shell though as neither of them will eat it. Even when I have given them a whole egg, they will break it open, eat the middle, and leave the shell for me to pick up later.
-
My two have built in ones, so the only reason I can think of to put clothes on them, is to take photos of them and humiliate them on the net!! (insert evil laugh here!)
-
You can hire them from this page. There was no way I could afford to buy two collars, and I thought this would be a better way.

I too am having problems with my dogs barking at the moment and nothing will shut them up. We know why they are barking too. They bark at the old man who lives in the battle axe block behind us whenever he is in his yard. He teased them when we first moved in and they have now taken and intense dislike of him. Which I think is fair enough, but they really need to stop barking or our other nice neighbours will complain. The neighbour has pretty much been a bastard since we moved in. Telling us we should get rid of our dogs cause they are stupid. He only thinks they are stupid cause they bark at him. Apparently the nieghbour on the otherside of his driveway has had problems with him teasing his poms. I found this out when he helped me find my two escape artists. He said the dogs are fine wth him going near the fence, not a peep out of either of them. This horrible man is the only thing they bark at. So we have tried everything to get them to shut up, including treats when they do, time outs, but nothing has worked. Fortunately you can hire citronella collars from the QBN pound here, which saves us buying them incase they don't work. However we are on a waiting list for them. So if this doesn't work I will have to use an E-collar even though I don't really like them. Much preferable than having to get rid of my babies, or worse get them debarked if people start complaining.

Oh the joys of the shedding sibe's!!!! Just when I think my two have finally shed their undercoat, more seems to appear from no where. Drives me insane, but I am sure a lot of birds have some very comfy nests at the moment!

Help! I Think Loki Has A Tick On His Tongue
Ezza replied to Ezza's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Well I got home form work yesterday arvo and looked in his mouth, and the damn thing was gone. So not only do I think I am really stupid, but I am pretty sure the dog thinks that too! I have no idea what the hell was stuck to his tongue if it wasn't a tick. I was under the impression that ticks don't come off until they are huge and fat with blood. Please correct me if I am wrong. And whatever it was, was well and truly stuck on. But it can't have worried him too much, cause he was being a real loon on our walk this morning as per usual. Thanks, for all the great help on this. I will know what to do in future if he actually gets a tick. -

Help! I Think Loki Has A Tick On His Tongue
Ezza replied to Ezza's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It's jet black and about the size of one of those plastic pin heads, maybe a bit bigger. I have made an appointment with the vet this arvo, just to be sure. With Loki anything is possible! The other day he had a bull ant stuck to his lip, and it took me ages to get him to hold still so I could get it off. He has a bad habit of sticking his nose into odd places. I also thought it might be dirt or trauma to his tongue, from his sister, while they were playing, (she has broken his tail previously), but from the looks I got of it this morning, it looked bug like. I couldn't knock it off with my fingernail, which made me think it was a tick. I will have another look at it this evening, before I go to the vet. There is no way I can get Loki to hold still to get it off anyway, so if it is a tick the vet will have to do it. -
Is this possible?? He won't let me have a proper look at it, but it is small and round and quite firmly attatched to the groove down the centre of his tongue. I wasn't even aware that there was ticks in my area. He doesn't seem affected by it at all, he hoovered his breaky down and was as bouncy as ususal this morning, but I am not sure how long he has had it on there. I only noticed it this morning. Any thoughts????

Wow the only thing I do with my two is sledding. And haven't decided whether or not I want to do that competively or not. I tired obedience, but wasn't ever really into it and neither were the dogs. Being sibe's they ahve such selective hearing, and only generally did stuff when they felt like it. Taya is the worst for it. Loki is great as long as you have food in your hand.
-
I can just see that jinta, you both having those intense hair treatments in your hair together in the shower!!! sooooo cute
-
Well the last time I washed my two they were about 6 months old, and Loki screamed the whole time. I think out neighbours must have thought we were chopping him up into little bits or something. Taya was pretty good, and tolerated it, and of course I ended up as wet as the dogs. However I am lucky and my two are very clean and don't smell. :D They do need a bath at the moment to help loosen some of their winter coat. No matter how often a I brush them at the moment I can't seem to get it all out, so I think a warm bath will be the go. And I guess we will see how well they tolerate it now. I think I might have to get the boyf to bribe them with bits of schmakco while the bathing is in progress. :p
