Kim - yes ive got the same situation with my 5 month old pup - in fact he seems to go everywhere other than our big grassed areas - in the garage, on the deck, in the garden beds. It is really hard to catch him in the act for poos! We have fenced off a few key areas where he goes in the hope he will get the hint - but alas he just finds somewhere else naughty. We;ve just got to keep an eye out i guess and keep trying to catch him in the act.

Thanks guys as i said whatever it is he's had it since i've picked him up so im gathering the water etc is fine our other dog drinks it with no problem as well. He's poos range from a dark brown to a milk chocolate kinda of brown. Vet did have a feel around his gut when i was there a couple of weeks ago and nothing felt out of place she said he was really healthy and happy. Anyway will take in a sample and have it checked out. Hopefully all it is just something really minor.

When i say changing diet .... i've trialed things with him for about two weeks each. I realise that chopping and changing everytime i shop wouldn't help the matter so i've trialled different things every two weeks to see how i go. Kaos hasn't had treats for about two weeks now as i thought this would also not help. He does have a faccination with cat food ..... but Zenah never leaves any left in her bowl for him to 'get at' he has gotten to her biscuits a couple of times but I've made sure he hasn't been able to get at those for a couple of weeks now either (the last two weeks the alarm bells have started to ring that this has probably gone on for too long now so i've been conscieously trying to make sure he can't get at anything he shouldn't) Not just grass though, he'll try to eat Mulch, Plants, He was eating a snail the other day .... that was just gross (no we don't have snail pellets, weed killers etc around), sand .... everything on a regular basis - which can't all help but i can't exactly ban him from the backgarden. I do have an Allwormer at home - i must admit ive been putting off giving this to him because i thought - if they thought this is what cuased it in first place then likely if i give it to him its going to make him worse.

thanks Rysup I will try that over the weekend! I put Kaos health above all but as i said it doesn't seem to be giving him grief so i will experiement with a couple of suggestions over the weekend and then my partner has monday off so if we are still expericing it on monday he will be visiting the vets first thing. He also drinks a lot of water ..... a LOT of water so i will take this up with them also.

I'm really concerned and paranoid now. If he was showing signs of being sickly and not gaining any weight i would've been right onto it. But he's just always so full of energy and growing and getting stocky so being a pup you put it down to: oh he's eating too much grass or oh the food ive got him on must be wrong etc. Now im 'I'm a bad mum should've taken him straight to vet' Will ring them first thing monday.

I spoke to the vet about a month ago regarding it. She said it was quite common in pups usually down to diet. Best way to stop it was to fast them for 24 hours and then put them on a diet of chicken and rice. He does go back to the vets on Tuesday for an inhouse puppy preschool i will broach the subject with them again regarding it. He was at the vets for the day about a month ago and he was on a course of antibiotics for an unrelated incident (rough play with our german shepherd gave him a 'cut to the noggin') they didn't mention it as a problem then and antibiotics didn't seem to change his bowel movements either (although obviously different antibiotics target different things). I've chopped and changed him between Purina, Eagle One & Pedigree Puppy Dry Food Formulas (trying to find a food that doesnt give him the runs) I give him two cups in the morning (which equates to about two thirds of his bowl) and two cups in the evening. As far as Huskies he's going to be a big boy! He's still hungry after i give him this but as far as i can see this is slightly over (by about half a cup) the recommended feeding amount for his weight and age. At first we thought - its because he eats so much grass and sand and he'll grow out of it .... but yes now im starting to get a little concerned. No idea what the pink stuff is called i was told to give him 3mils a day along with half a tablet .... the bottle had no label. I did tell the vet about that too. I got him from an very reputable breeder so i do have faith in what they gave me for him they said that if they thought it was a problem they wouldn't send him but they are sure its just the worming tablets - but as i said obviously the problem is beyond just 'runny poos after worming' now. They had a lot of concern and love for their dogs well being - i could probably talk to them about it and they would be of assistance but i don't want them to think that im going "Hey there's something wrong with my pup what are you going to do about it?" I'd prefer to find the solution myself.

My poor Siberian Pup has had runny poo since the day i brought him home. The breeders gave me some pink medication for it and said they had a feeling it was because they just wormed him which was fine. The medication worked but as soon as pup came off it he still had it. Now he's had it for 6 weeks and its just got worse its full on liquid now (sorry if too much information) I've tried different brands of puppy food but that doesn't help and i really feel for the little guy - plus its an awful mess. I know there has been a couple of threads on pups with 'the runs' but this seems a long term not a short term thing. Any suggestions as i said every time he goes to the loo i really feel for the little guy. Doesn't seem to be affecting his weight gain though!

We have a 11 year old German Shep and a now 14 week old Siberian Husky Pup. The first two weeks i thought "Oh my god what have i done" The Shepherd was snarly & snappy (very unlike her nature) and after a while they seemed to be 'okay' and i turned my back for 5minutes and the Shep snapped at Pup and pup got a gash to the head. So we divided the backyard in two and built pup his seperate pen. Three days into this new arrangement i come home to see the pup got out of his pen and spent the day with the Shepherd and survived. Which gave me a bit of confidence to start 'trusting' them together. Now (being together for about 6 weeks).... They can't be seperated if you tried - they actually get a little anxious without each other. The Shepherd has really taken on a mothering protective roll to the Sibe .... she grooms him, plays with him and they will sleep in the same bed (despite having seperate ones). They are so gorgeous together.

This is how i taught my dog and within a week he was waiting for permission to eat. Now he just "talks" to his food and i don't know how im going to quash that.

My pup was the same - I always told him a firm "No" when i saw him chewing on something he wasn't allowed to and replaced it with something he was allowed to chew and praised him when he occupied himself with that. Also the more 'edible' kind of dog chews (i.e raw hide chews as opposed to toy) do wonders normally he would be laying at my feet munching on the legs of the study table but instead he's amusing himself with his dog chew - must taste a lot better than the toy type because he won't touch his chew toys. But that's just newbie advice on what seems to have worked for me - im sure there's a lot more experienced advice out there.

Just had Kaos second vaccs done $125 for a C5 plus the booster in 3 weeks.

German Shepherd sunk teeth into puppy tonight Food bowl is always put away when they are together and i always tell the puppy no and immediately remove him from the shepherds bed. The Nip occured in a space where there was no 'territory' as such. The Shepherd also had a go at pup while he was under the table trying to get away from the Shepherd. I say its a jealousy thing. It will be interesting to see what happens when my fiancee gets home (he works away) on wednesday as the Shepherd is his dog and she regards him as leader. Luckily the puppy hasn't required stitches.

Thanks Kirby - Ive seen Cesars show a few times. I think ive pretty much got the respect of both dogs especially the Shepherd - any disagreeances can be stopped with one huge "OI" from me and it goes no further. Im wondering if i should take away the two things the Shepherd is territorial about such as the food bowl and bed if i leave them alone together or will this make things worse as the shepherd will start to resent puppy. I'd only do it when i couldn't supervise.

Hi All, Im seeking advice on how the best way to integrate out 2 month old Siberian with our 11 year old German Shepherd. Our Shepherd has a really easy going personality and was brought up with having another dog in the house but has been living solo for the past 5 years. When we take her for walks she seems fine with bigger dogs but seems to have a fear of small dogs. I have started the process - going out to the Shepherd after cuddling pup so shepherd can smell the pup on me. Introducing them through the door (shepherd did snap at pup through the door but have feeling that was because pup was standing a little too close to food bowl). Leashing the Shepherd going out to the garden and letting her sniif the pup and then when she looks a little agitated walking her away for a while and coming back and repeating the process. Finally today i can let them both off the leash - Pup has no interest in the Shepherd he just wanders off and does his own thing - he has no interest in the cat either. I thought he would be pestering her to play and getting on her nerves but he's actually not a real excitable dog. So this isn't really about the pup i guess ..... its more about my German Shepherd as she has been a little unpredictable so im wondering if there are any pointers that can be given so i can trust her and the puppy to share the backyard happily together. One moment she's in the "come play with me" position - jumping around yapping at pup to chase her and the next moment he's playing with a fly and she's randomly come up to him and snapped at him.

Puppy has spent first night in his bed in the laundry. There was 20 minutes of whining and the it just stopped and he slept right through the night. He has a really nice bed with nice warm fluffy blanket, a stuffed Sibe Dog Teddy and an old shirt of mine so he has something that smells of me. His first night was suprisingly good.

Yeah my mum buys her "Grandfurs" Xmas presents - last year it was a pack of "Greenies" for our German Shepherd bizzare coloured stuff it went down a treat with her though she like them.

I pick up my new pup on Thursday and was wondering same thing. The breeder has said he's going to start separating our dog from the litter tonight so hopefully he's not such a cry baby when we take him home. He won't be sleeping in our room as if we let him sleep in our room we would have to let our German Shepherd also sleep in our room so Me, OH, 2 dogs and a cat .... not going to be a peaceful night sleep. I want to introduce him to the german shepherd slowly and supervise them both together before i let them play alone just so i can be confident everyone is getting along so Im thinking of making him a nice warm bed in the laundry for the first weekend and see how things go from there.
