GSD4ME, I am so sorry for your loss of your darling girl Zara Remember ,each day that passes is a day closer to being together again with your girl.

I worm myself once a year and I have a tetanus shot every three to four years. When I was doing Animal Technology, the vets told us when you work with animals, tetanus should be every 3 to 4 years and every 10 years if you don't work or have animals.

I am very sorry to hear about your lovely cat. You have to do what you feel is right. If she is going to die anyway why don't you let the Vet operate ,at least to have a look at what type of tumour it is. If it is not good then she can be pts while she is on the table. At least you will feel you have tried everything before the final decision. The reason I say this is because I knew a woman who had a 17 year old Dachshund, this dog had a huge football size tumour in her abdomen and she was extremely ill. The prognosis was very poor but the owner decided to have the dog operated on and the Vet was able to remove the tumour. This darling old dog was as bright as a button the next day and went on to live until she was 20.

Bonnie Dog Food-new Pack = New Ingredience
Tapferhund replied to yorkpark's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I feed my dogs BARF but my Greyhound is on Bonny puppy ,as this is the only food she does well on and keeps her weight. Why is it when there is a good product that works, some mongrel comes along and changes it and usually for no other reason than to save costs -
Grapes And Raisins Toxic To Dogs!
Tapferhund replied to Alibi's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Melt, I agree with what Ricey has said, there are older topics discussing this on DOL. Grapes ,Raisins ,sultanas etc are deadly to dogs. -
Sh*t Holly, your poor bl**dy dog with his awful skin complaint Such a difference between the 'before' and 'after' photos, just goes to show what a little bit of TLC will do !

Whisper, You are expecting WAY TO MUCH from this puppy. It is so easy to train a puppy to sit and wait while you put the bowl down BUT IT TAKES TIME AND PATIENCE. You are expecting miracles in wanting absolute obedience now, and this shows how ignorant you are about dogs and their training You should never hit a baby, how do expect the pup to learn while your belting it, the only thing it will learn, is to not trust you or like you. Another thing too, keep the cat and its food away from the pup at feed times. The way I teach my pups to sit and wait is to have the bowl on the table, hold onto the puppys collar with one hand and then place the bowl on the floor with the other hand. Immediately and GENTLY place the pup into the sit position with your hand down low near the tail and say 'sit'. Say 'wait' and then IMMEDIATELY release the pup saying 'OK', to eat his dinner. This could take you a couple of weeks of consistant training then when the pup has the idea of sitting and waiting, I then do not hold the pup but hold his tea above his head saying 'sit' and then 'wait' , then I try to put the bowl down constantly repeating sit and wait. If the pup gets up I raise the bowl up and repeat the process. You should find it will not take long before the pup realises if he sits and stays the bowl will be put down. As soon as the bowl is on the floor RELEASE the pup IMMEDIATELY to eat his dinner. Be consistant and fair in your training and over the next few weeks, increase the time by seconds only before you tell him 'OK' to eat his dinner. I strongly recommend you go to an obedience club or trainer to learn about your dog and the correct methods of training.

How Many Dolers Feed BARF As A Result Of DOL?
Tapferhund replied to Ciara's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have been feeding BARF for just on 7 years now. Occasionally I will use a commercial food if I am a bit low on natural foods. -
Toilet duck, thanks for this one, I am going to give this one a try.

Helen, thanks for your help. I started teaching her this about 2 months ago, so was glad to see this trick posted. Will try and go back a step.

BIGBUM, I'm stuck with this one. I have taught my bitch to 'touch' my hand from just in front to start with then slightly over her head ,next a little higher to make her reach. At the moment she will reach up about 15cm from her head. As soon as I put my hand about 8cm in front or to the side of her to vary positions, she seems to not understand what I want and keeps trying to wave. My wave signal is totally different so it is not that. How do I get her to 'target and 'touch' a longer distance from her face. Her waves are quite frantic too, meaning constant and forced. Would much appreciate your advise. Thanks for the tricks on this forum too.
