To those who responded with compassion and understood that it was grief THANK YOU. You have helped. To others ... yes the post was irrational.

I use sentinel spectrum. It's great and I haven't had any problems. It does heartworm too. All in one chewy treat :)

Sleep well gorgeous, gorgeous boy. I am so very sorry you have to go through this. Wishing you strength in this difficult time.

Thank you Cynthia. Some days are better than others. Today is one of the 'others'. I miss Kajtek. So very, very much!

Thank you all for your help and support. All of this is so very painful. It should be getting easier already... Shouldn't it? I would like also to publicly thank our beloved vet Angus Martin @ Hornsby Vet Clinic. He's made Kajtek's passage easier and sent us his ashes and a card where he wrote "We always said he was the "miracle dog" and he certainly was!... not only physically but also his lovely gentle, friendly demeanor at all times". Bless you Angus. Thank you for your care and knowledge.

This is what I did when I was training my team. Squat, clap my hands and call "come cheese". It worked for us. I think it depends on the dog. My two bullies were perfect. The third always hesitated somewhat  I have also found that the command 'wait' works better on some dogs.

Thank you for the info. I'll find some hopefully soon

Chinese Heart Support Herbs - Sheng Mai San
Kajtek replied to Kajtek's topic in General Dog Discussion
Done. Just pm or email the address I need to send the pills to. I suggest your friend calls Dr Lyn Stevens to get the correct dose. DR LYN STEVENS CMD 22 Broughton Street Camden NSW 2570 Ph: (02 ) 46 55 1688 -
I have a good stash of Sheng Mai San in sealed bottles. I've been buying those for Kajtek from DR Lyn Stevens (www.alternativetherapies.net.au, [email protected]). If you have a dog with a heart problems and can use them, I will be happy to post them to you free of charge. If there are no takers, I'll just send them back Dr Stevens. Please let me know if you are interested.

Dear DOL, today, I have lost my heart-dog. He was my foster failure. There are no words, no tears.... just darkness. Kajtek, You came to us with a broken heart. I am so sorry that we could not fix the disease. You were called the Miracle Boy by your vet, your cardiologist and us. You have beaten all the odds and gave us many unexpected years. Thank you my love for the extra years. Thank you my love for your bully antics. Thank you my love for loving us unconditionally. Safe travels my beautiful boy. Mom and papa will always love and remember you. Sometimes things just look better that way....

I need some turkey necks for HonBun. My favourite butcher has closed down. Pet Deli does not have any. Where is a good place to get them in Sydney (Nth Sydney/Lane Cove area)? I prefer on-line shopping so maybe a reputable place that delivers. Thanks

You are a very kind and caring person. I think that the situation requires nothing more than a request to your friend that she doesn't put her dog in a very stressful situation. As I have implied in my previous post.... I love my dogs more than I can say; they are gorgeous, obedient and well behaved beings.... but.... Would I trust them in the extreme stress situation? Nope!!! Maybe it's just me. No trust in my "babies"
-
My 2 are generally well behaved and calm. I am not sure how they would react given the situation you have described ie the dog stressed 'to the max' and the human in severe distress. I suspect they would 'loose their head' too.

No, no it's not you (unless it's me too) Parenting 3 of them has taught me the value of bribes. Mine are very well behaved most of the time. I recognize their need to be paid for 'services rendered'. They let me know if payment is inadequate :D -

That + a really good bribe. Their 'what's in it for me' attitude is awesome  -

They are :D I just love the book "so your dog is not Lassie". I've applied the principles (especially bribing) to the three. It worked well :) Only 2 left now so it's easy.
