;) ;) ;) To dear old Koogles...I wonder if there are many dogs on DOL around the same age..or is Kuges oiur most senior member? Your to be congratulated Horty for looking after him so well...
-
Agree wholeheartedly MoosMum...I acknowledge the benefits of pure breds but no matter what we think in this forum there will always be crossbreds..always
-
Yes they can..I had a very small Chi years ago who had one... it did not completely close. Be careful with it and talk to the puppys breeder about it. Its called the Molera and is a characteristic of the breed

My Cavvy Star and my sons Pointer cross Barney...having a natter in the sun. Mooching around with Powder the Wolfy cross. Csught in the act.... Im innocent.....

Therell always be an ample supply of free ranging idiots to both amuse and irritate.....

Im with you Perse.....let dogs be dogs.....

Didnt like it at all as soon as I looked at it. Cant tolerate seeing dogs dressed up at all...not even a bandanna..and the whole thing was just wrong to me..I prefer to see dogs being dogs..way too circussy and takes away from a dogs natural grace.

Only problem Ive had recently is a mild yeast infection in Stars ears which has responded to medication. My nearly nine year old Dane Abbie has never had a serious complaint..not bad at all for a BYB dog....and no problems with Casper a pound rescue....

Vernie you can bet as soon as you say 'pup outside at night'..youll get a pretty big response.. Sounds to me like you have provided a very safe warm environment for your pup..who by the way you know is used to sleeping outside..You dont have to have your dogs sleep inside with you if thats what youve decided....its not the Mortal Sin of dog ownership to decide so. Oodles of people safely sleep their dogs outside in an appropriate set up..and youve done it already Re the training.I wouldnt lose any sleep over it..hell do it sure cause you arnt there to show him otherwise...but Ill bet hell go up on the grass as he matures. No biggee. Id just be cleaning the area so it doesnt smell so inviying but hell still no doubt do it as hes only a bub...that will soon change. Sounds to me like you dont have to apologise or change the way you do things. Your place..your dogs...your the decision maker.

Id be tickled to death if someone could whip me up a new siggie.....Im chronically challenged in that area..Ill post three pics..below. Star, the Cav..Abbie..the Dane and Casper, the Staffy. Any idea where it might be going to be kozpink? And congrats on the wonderful effort.

The whole idea that any natural thing be it human or animal or vegetable of mineral...whatever you like .......can be regarded by the adherants of any religions as unclean..for whatever reason...certain foods....eg .....mestruating women ...uncircumcised baby boys...is a whole lot of bovine manure...as are many of the traditions of the established religions.

Stormie if you read my post again you will see I said I admired the OPs 'dedication' to her bitch and whelps..not that she had produced them, I must make it clear that I do support pure breds and ethical registered breeders. I will never support the flaming we always see in this forum when its not completely deserved. Despite the very admirable efforts dedicated breeders put into their chosen breeds,,the fact that they can produce unhealthy dogs despite their best efforts is a well known fact.....so it goes both ways. I am not saying dont bother with the practices of registered breeding at all..Im simply saying registered breeders can and do have the same results as unregistered ones. The fact that your pup came from a well respected registered breeder doesnt mean you will have a dog without problems....why did my sisters well bred girl ..with champion lines behind her for over 30 years..looked after and cared for with no expense spared in every way..just die in her sleep at under three years of age....yes she was very unlucky....and it seems ....I am very lucky.

I would never apologise to the High Horse Brigade.... Youve been done over by the best of them Kazzie....but I think youve come through fairly unscathed. I admire your dedication to your bitch and whelps....not always seen among the Registered Brigade as we all well know. And the pups produced by some of them should not have seen the light of day....not saying there arnt excellent people breeding under a reg prefix though. From personal experience...I have a thoroughbred giant breed..from an unregistered breeder..shock horror...saw her in the Trading Post...put me in the stocks and pelt me with rotton fruit!!!...however she has a gentle temp, good with other dogs and small animals, has never had a serious sick day in her life and is accepting of other people, and shes a good looker....despite her mysterious background..some of which..but not all ..I know. Compared to others of her breed that have come from reg breeders..that I know of..including dogs owned by my own family..who have just suddenly died...and others throughout the breed which suffer from chronic physical and temperament problems...shes doing just fine. Ill also say I got my lovely girl before I became a member of this forum and learnt many things... Might I add..I also own a rescue cross breed and a pure bred, registered, papered, vacced, chipped, health checked pup..think Ive covered all my bases..as have many members of DOL in the same boat as I am. I do support registered breeders but many dogs from non reg breeders are excellent examples of their type. And the reverse is true of some dogs from supposed ethical breeders. Having a title does not automatically elevate you to the realms of perfection. Essentially we should all strive to do the right thing....people however will always do their own thing despite what DOLamites would urge...I just hope it will most often be the best thing for the dogs we hold so dear.

To my mind Jed you represent all that is best on DOL... I am delighted to see you on the road to recovery. You are an inspiration. -
In the the wise words of Shirley Valentine....in the hilarious movie of the same name....."Your a Bloodhound..not a Yoghurt Hound.."as she gave a dog she was minding a hunk of red meat instead of yoghurt as instructed by its ditsy owner...
