  1. It was raining here so I ditched the clothes and ran around the backyard like a crazy person. Had fun and washed off all of last years negativity.
  2. I find it interesting as well. I used to see Dingo's inland from Noosa all the time, some where ginger but others were darker, I have seen wild dogs out of town here darker ginger. I asked a while ago about feral cats and how large they become after a few years. Huge cats. I also asked about wild dogs and if they settle to a dingo size after generations. Or is it that only the smaller faster dogs are strong enough to breed, the same with the cats, only the larger cats survive in the wild. Interesting stuff.
  3. I have a friend who has lived on three properties, one 5 ks from town, one 30ks and one 45ks. The place closer to town was where she lost a lot of her chickens, especially spring/summer when there would be parents and youngsters in her coop, they killed every hen. The second place she had a fort Knox of a coop, but the Quolls chewed their way through the wire. Even with the wire dug in a metre or two. Quolls just don't care. They will pull the chooks through the wire! Her new place is pretty isolated, she stopped with the chooks after trying again and loosing them to foxes.
  4. I should cover my eyes when these pics come up. I never thought I would ever consider a swf, it must happen when you are turning 68!
  5. I noticed yesterday a bonfire built in the paddock one door down, Im hoping Im wrong about it. Our council spends an awful lot of our rates on fireworks every year. It really pisses people off because there are plenty of paddocks around with horses sheep and cattle in them and they often get loose. Having two main highways going through town makes it even worse. Im so thankful Gilly is deaf and cant hear them now he used to get terrified. Everyone seems to want fireworks even the local catholic school fete had fireworks this yea! I will make sure my lot will have a bone in their crates with blankets on them, Cedro has a problem with the lights of fireworks sometimes.
  6. Ahhh run away Beth the cuteness in strong in all these sweet little guys. I looked Malcolm up I would like to bring in another oldster but not for six months or so. Ill keep watching your site. I would like a SWF, I have a good groomer here. Im 68 this year so a youngster wouldn't be fair on the dog so and oldy would be great.
  7. Ive seen things you wear like the kiddie harness that a dog sits in. You could also think about a push bike with a basket that you could harness your dog in, seen lots of pics of dogs in the wind with sunnies on and ears blowing. They always seem to look happy.
  8. No, he has done it for 20 years, lately I wake up and check his breathing, in the last two days he has gone back to under the doona.
  9. What do they do if all want to poo in different directions? And what do they do with it all. Yuck.
  10. Gilly does the silent whine in the middle of the night, although he can still jump up on the bed! I hate it when he jumps down it really scares me. But I cant be there all the time. So something like stairs would be great. I like it that Im not alone with three dogs on my bed, the Fauves at both corners at the bottom of the bed and Gilly next to me in all his old man stinkyness.
  11. Goooood dogs Spotty. Malcolm is an oldster? Can you tell me about him?
  12. Looks like all the mixes up here, they breed them for pigging. But it doesn't matter if you love him and he is a good dog, doesn't matter what he is crossed with. He is very handsome.
  13. The one she killed was very big and healthy, he was in my strawberry patch pinching my strawberries, I thought it was the dogs getting them. I have lots of lizards down the back, that is fenced of from the top yard, its wild and I have heaps of reptiles there, at the moment its frogs everywhere because we have been having a bit of rain daily. Also I have a few blueies in the front yard that is also fenced of so the dogs cant get there. I hate it when I loose a bluetongue. I hate it when they kill anything.
  14. I have a would if she could couter surfer. But because the man who made my kitchen was over six foot, the sides are way to high for stumpy little legs! Its just under chest high for me! But the Fauves will steal if they can. Especially out of the fridge, they do fast dives if I don't watch them.
  15. Might be looking to see if you saw him. Even up here in the Tablelands its been extremely humid and hot, but at least when it is you know a storm will come sooner or later. Cant go outside for more than a few minutes or you get burnt. I wish my Fauves wouldn't hunt, they are killers. Etta killed a beautiful big blue tongue the other day. All I saw was her jump back, then go in for the kill. I saw something fat and stripped, it could have been a Tiger or a Adder so I yelled drop it and she just looked at me with distane. Then one good shake and it was dead, then she ate half of it! She is so fast, at night they sit at the end of my bed waiting for our resident mice to come out, Cedro and Etta then launch themselves of the bed after them. This is done in the middle of the night! Causes me a few sleep problems. Fauves were designed to hunt in packs or alone, they circle the prey and dive it really fast then out again, they do it in turns. Cedro hunts but just little lizards, he doesn't kill, Etta is in it for the kill.
  16. Powerlegs your lot have lovely faces. I threaten Cedro if he isnt good Ill buy some xmas clothes for him. He is lucky he is short with a big chest not easy to find stuff in his size. Tikira that sideways glance from Kira is sort of telling and smarty pants JRT looks all innocent.
  17. Over the years I was fostering old dogs I never really thought about it! But they all got on well although all were desexed. Cedro and Etta are the only entire dogs I have had, they came over a period of time, Cedro with Anna and Etta 6 months ago. Gilly wasn't impressed for a while but settled in with them well. So now I have two entire dogs and one desexed and I have no problems with them at all. I could say that could be because Fauves are very easy going dogs, but the bitches can be bitches at times. Etta is a lovely soft dog girl. Cedro is also a very gentle dog with people and other dogs, my breeder picked him well for me. I think when a breeder picks a pup for you, you need to tell her everything about yourself, so she can base her pick on who will blend in well with you.
  18. There is a family up here who have three of these crosses all from the same "breeder" all supposedly the same looking dogs. All look entirely different three different sizes and coats.
  19. Port Kembla Golf course used to have a big wireless tower near the bottom of the course, It had a really big old nest that Ravens had built, they used to go after golf balls all the time. I was an adult when I first saw a live Wedgetail,up in the Snowies the only ones I ever saw were stretched out on fences. The first live ones I saw were near Wauhope one day. I have always thought of them as my bird. When I used to travel on the train to Sydney and back, I always new I was near home because I saw a Wedgetail up in the valley between Armidale and Tamworth. I had a pair that nested on the property I lived on. I watched them raise many babies and got to see the youngsters learn to hunt and ride the thermals. The most wonderful thing for me was lieing on a rock watching them ride up the air. The day before I left that place I was doing just that sort of saying good by and one dropped a feather for me!
  20. Two doors up from me a man used to have show chooks, this was at least 10-12 years ago, the foxes still come to visit! They come through my yard sometimes and make the dogs crazy. Speaking of hunting birds, I was out the front of my place just sitting on the steps and there was a blackbird digging in my garden. Then there was a squark and a woosh and a Harrier grabbed that bird and was away. It was about 10 feet away from where I was sitting. I don't mind because I don't like introduced bloody blackbirds that take over the nesting areas in my garden. I have rabbits in my yard they come from the paddocks and the trees hide them from the Wedgeis and Hawkes.
  21. I would love my hounds to do something that they enjoy Noseworks would be great for them but sadly way too far away.
  22. Yes I know its on my list of first things to buy when I have the money! My DIL has one and I agree far to much plastic to break.
