  1. As Mystiqview says the issue is enforcement more so than any real need for more laws. The fundamental problem though is that we don't have a dedicated animal welfare regulatory body that is publicly funded and publicly owned. Government will not set one up if they can possibly avoid it, they are happy to "outsource" the job to the rspca who are not set up effectively for the task, nor should they be. they are a private entity and have numerous conflicts of interest within their dual roles as charity and regulator. The public currently are largely unaware of the need for a more substantial government role in animal welfare regulation, it is simply not a priority and by and large for some reason they believe the rspca is doing the job. Personally I feel that great advancements in the area of animal welfare (be it companion, production, or working animals) would be made if a welfare division within the public system were to be implemented.
  2. Thank you for trying Jed :) I think it's important for good breeders to be part of the dialogue, even if the powers that be don't want to listen, keep on being the squeaky wheel. I think it is critical to have science based research supporting regulatory bodies, sadly at the moment science is just not a priority for this government, or the people it apparently represents.
  3. My sibe loves lure coursing, I wish the club was closer, he thinks it's awesome to actually be able to chase stuff, not much opportunity for that at home
  4. yes. Correction: they seek the end of all domestic animal variants, not just pets. While peta are as crazy as they come, they aren't stupid, and that is what makes them so dangerous. For example, if you follow their premise to it's logical conclusion they should also be killing humans without discrimination. But of course they are not so foolish as to ignore the fact that humans deaths are not so easily dismissed. An irony which may or may not be lost on them. i have also found the same thing as LisaCC, the damage done to animal welfare is profound and possibly irreparable. Mention welfare and farmers and industry run a mile Oh but didn't you read one of the links above with quotes from head PETA people? They have publicly applauded people who have murdered those in the animal and science industries. They don't do it themselves, but they quite literally fund actual terrorist groups who kill people and set fire to buildings using bombs. That's where peoples donations are going. Must have missed that one, that's the point though isn't it? They are happy to take the stance but they don't promote it, they know that the majority of their support comes from people who aren't going to look too deep.

  6. Hi all this came up in my feed and thought there may be some Tibbie people interested.
  7. What a beautiful job your son (and his dad!) has done! :D
  8. Yes DDD it will be very interesting to see what colour baby we get, cuteness is guaranteed though :D Thanks CBD, I haven't taken them to a show for ages, I would like to just been busy with the big horses, neither of them are overly suited for showing though as Tiny's legs never straightened up properly and Saffy doesn't really like showing so mostly they just sit around looking cute :) This is the possible colour combinations according to the online calculator so everyone can start placing bets! :D 25.00% - Palomino 25.00% - Chestnut 12.50% - Silver Black 12.50% - Silver Buckskin 12.50% - Silver Bay 12.50% - Silver Smoky Black
  9. Thought I'd update this thread, Tiny is still as cheeky as ever, haven't got any recent pics though sadly, I will have to give him a brush up and take some photos. I do have some news though, miss Saffy is in foal, we haven't been able to scan so weren't 100% sure until recently when my friend felt the baby moving around so that was pretty exciting :D Not for me of course I have enough ponies this one is for a friend, will be very interesting to see what colour we get, daddy is silver taffy :) Mum looking very scruffy Dad scrubs up nice :)
  10. Aww love the yearly updates on the fluff monster! :D
  11. I think it's an excellent starting reference, sure there are aspects which are less relevant at the local level but the aim is to begin to delineate the differences between puppy sources at an ethical level, which doesn't normally factor into the decision making process for most puppy buyers. There is scope to make it more discerning but perhaps direct readers to more resources if they are interested in delving into the more complex issues but as an entry level reference you don't want it to be so complex or specific as to discourage the engagement of the target audience: ie those who know little about the fundamental differences between breeders.
  12. My sibe is the same, if he wants attention or wants to go outside, if he thinks dinner is getting a bit late and I should get a wriggle on
  13. They are very snuggly lol :D Yes DD I must remember to have the camera on when things are happening :)
  14. Lol Bella was very excited she couldn't believe what she was seeing  I don't think Sophia has seen many minis in her travels as she was very snorty and actually trotted around for a fair while, wish I'd had the video camera out.
  15. Well Tiny and Saffy came home today, they have gotten way too fat during their sojourn on 80 acres so they have to come back to dirt paddocks for a while so they don't founder. For those not familiar founder (or laminitis) is a condition of the hooves where the connective tissue inside starts to degenerate causing separation of the outer wall of the hoof and the inner structures, can be caused by lots of things and excessive weight is one common cause. So it's home to fat camp they will not be impressed to be out on a diet but they will survive :)
  16. Lol I will try and get some more photos soon :) He will be turning two very shortly doesn't time fly!
  17. Yep it's a game, my sibe does exactly the same thing, if he knows I'm playing or giving a half arsed command he will whinge and argue but if he knows I mean business he moves his bum quick smart, in as much as a sibe can be obedient that is! Pretty obvious from the tone of voice and gentle nudges from the owner that he's playing around, it's not a fair dinkum command and the dog knows it. :)
  18. He is growing up and learning that his role as a chi is to be your hot water bottle, even in summer, can't do his job in the crate :)
  19. I have deactivated my account (temporarily) so if you can just do it here :) Oh ok do you still have the same email? I don't think I can send PDF files via PM Yes I do :) Cool I've sent it through :)
