Me too, bathed the 2 girls and gave everyone faces. They were a bit hairy. Cold and wet here at home too -
Have to say Liberty , they will make to size if you speak to them, also will make the height for you as well , I have 3 extra large ones for my Standards so they have room to lay down comfortably

Was told by a friend who spoke to Elizabeth White yesterday that the RSPCA turned up with a warrent and were given records of one breeder, talk is that it is someone who has docked tails. At this point the RSPCA has more powers than the police, god help us all. I have an import here who really needs to be debarked, he is very vocal around tea time, surely it would be better to have his voice lowered than for me to be yelling at him and threatening him to shut up all the time. But thats not going to happen now as THEY say it is cruel. Also testing is fine, and I do all of mine, but what happens when something crops up that there is no test for? I have had 2 dogs seizure , late on set, and no idea where it is coming from, have chased breeders all over the world and pedigrees etc, only learning that in reality we all have the capabilities to produce it, with the lines we have here now, and no DNA test for it at all. Breeding is in the lap of the gods and most of us do our best, but try and tell the RSPCA that. Hope if the breeder they are after is in the wrong they are punished, BUT if they are on a witch hunt it will be worse for us all

Melbourne,, every time .Have brought 2 Standard poodles in in the last 2 yrs and the staff were fantastic. Grooming area terrific and I could have time to bath and trim with out being disturbed, they also have fully covered runs if you ask. Also I took my food in and they were happy to oblige, and that included Chicken wings and necks, Barf and some dry , also fed twice a day at request.

Thanks Elfin, I have 7 or 8 to go , a friend has 2 and another 2 bichons, so thought a clinic would be an idea. But guess we have enough by ourselves anyhow

Hi All, does anyone out there know of any breed clubs that are holding an Eye Clinic in the Melbourne area in the near future. I have several Poodles that I want to have cleared again. Maybe if anyone is interested we can organise one ourselves .Would be at Animal Eye Care in East Malvern.

have to agree with Caroline in that Standards are very protective towards their owners, but if introduced to people are normally fine . We had a barbecue at our place a couple of years ago now and there were about 8 or 9 children there, they were playing football , I let my Standards out for a run and they all started to play ball with the kids, so we organised a match, dogs against kids, 6 Standards against the gang, Oh yes Caroline Rourke was included, they played for around 15 mins, then the kids declared the Standards the winners as they could not beat them to the ball. My dogs were not used to kids at all and they surprised us all with their reaction to them. I do not believe that every dog should like every person and have to say I am now more aware of my dogs likes and dislikes.

I have a friend who had a Standard bred in Vic from imported USA lines via NSW, that was diagnosed with SA. He did not lose all his hair but had a very sparse tail and not much on the ears . He lived till 14.5 yrs and it really did not affect him. We have tested for SA for years but now most of the Vets do not believe that it is a conclusive test . Hopefully their will be a DNA test one day

does she have any pain in her tummy at all, if so i would be back at the vet and have her xrayed incase of a blockage. One of our Standards had a chicken neck stuck in her intestines, the first vet we saw sent her homr to see if she would get over it during the day as she had a little runny poo and vomited once, she would not eat though. Our girl was in surgery for 3 hours her bowel and intestines were all affected, she got through Ok and you would never know but we are very careful of chicken necks now. Also would not feed Tbones or shanks, they splinter too much. Brisket bones are the best or Lamb back bones, or big marrow bones

I did buy one of the Sheer Magic clippers and as they don't even work when plugged in, let alone hold any sort of charge I'm afraid I am not impressed. They are being returned on the weekend to the place I bought them from. were they the small ones,if so I thought that mine wouldn't work, turned out the blade was stuck, needed oil to loosen it, now they are fine

I feed some Dr Bruce Symes Vets All Natural premium food, but mostly, raw Chicken wing tips, necks, carcasses, Lamb bones with meat, not shanks or necks though, some beef in chunks, occasionally tuna or sardines in oil, They get the occasional dog biscuit , all do well on this and are extremely fit and active , even my old girl, 12yrs eats this way. Much less poo then on a commercial diet, the have soooo much filler in them,

As said it can be normal for him to change colour, a lot of chocolates will burn off on the edges and look rusty , but as this pup is so young i would say he may end up to be A Cafe Au Lait, not a recognised colour but quite pretty, depends on whether he keeps getting lighter or not. Does he have colour breeding behind him, or just black and brown?
