  1. Are the pups in the process of weaning? Maybe she is in pain and just trying to relieve the pain by removing some milk.
  2. I google the address to see the size of the yard etc, but I also ask the buyer to supply photos of their yard as well. Some times it isn't always possible to do a site visit.
  3. We have 3 large Royal Canin barrels we got for free with the food. Maybe ask your pet store about them next time you buy a bag.
  4. Maybe explain to your MIL that you will put her down when she is older and starting to cost a lot of money on tablets etc. And geez, if she goes into a home, well she's done for then as that is just way too much money! :)
  5. CDL is my nickname with OH and my mates! I'm the crazy dog lady at work too!
  6. I'll concur with Hunterhound, we just imported two pups from Sweden as well and Melanie from Jetpets helped us and was fantastic. Costs were about the same as Hunterhound as our two pups fit in one XL crate. Just for the sheer helpfulness of it all, I'd go with Jetpets. We've also exported with them and they were great.
  7. It won't be long before Salt and Pepper are bigger than Rosie!
  8. Uuuummmm methinks its a bit later than that. Yes, you are right, it's the 25th. I had the first mating date wrong.
  9. Hopefully we'll Australian White Shepherds (non ANKC) in mid January, around the 19th.
  10. If your dog is too much of a 'mutt', I wouldn't bother with it.
  11. You can have DNA collected from semen. I've done this twice when we've done AI even though we knew who the sire was. You just need to specify on the forms that it is semen not cheek cells as it is a different extraction method.
  12. Our eldest shepherd buries nice fresh meaty bones we give her, then she steals one of the other sheps bones and eats that. She is the alpha dog, so I guess she thinks it is her right to steal the others bones. I have seen the other female go and dig it back up a little while later and go and chomp on it later. Like Poodlefan, I don't think Niki's behaviour is from her puppyhood, it is just something some dogs do. Kind of like how some people open a packet of chocolate biscuits in the fridge but turn the packet around so no one knows it is open so they can eat them all themselves.
  13. We until April, we had two dogs, both White Shepherds. Neither were very barky dogs, one would bark a couple of times when people walked up our drive way to alert my husband and I that we had visitors but not at people walking on the foot paths. She was our living doorbell. Anyway, in April we had a litter of pups. Mid May we also had a baby. When the pups began escaping the puppy pen frequently, we decided the pups could go outside permanently - they were about 6 1/2 weeks old. Both dogs have now become really barky, barking at people on the other side of the road walking on the nature strip etc, and any time of the day or night. We still have two pups here but I think they might have started the barking when the pups went outside or started going to their homes. I assume the dogs are just being protective of the remaining pups and/or the new baby in the house. When they are inside, one of the dogs sits at the base of the baby's bassinette and looks like she is guarding it. I've never had a dog with a barking issue before - does anyone have suggestions to curb this behaviour?
