Nah, it's not for a litter, but yeah I feel your pain, with white puppies, we use ribbons and some times they fall off. It happened this time with two pups at the same time, lucky one was a boy and one was a girl. I'm actually a collector for GT Pets and need to do a collection but GT don't have any scanners available at the moment so I am trying to find an alternative. I was quoted $400 odd from a vet supply place, $220 not too bad.

Monash Vet in Oakleigh and Wyndham Vet in Werribee. Both very good with the repo side of things and AI with frozen swimmers. Wyndham do the AI via transcervical though and not by surgery. We normally get Wyndham to do all the before and after care and Monash do our AI as our swimmers are stored there. ETA - I think Monash are in Oakleigh now, I just know it is down the road from their old location.

Oh, that is a good idea, thanks.

Hi, Does anyone in the west of Melbourne has a scanner I can borrow for the day? Cheers

Brindle was a colour GSDs used to come in. The colour hasn't been seen in the breed since the 20s or 30s. I occasionally hear online of one popping up but everyone assumes they are crossbreds of some type.

Owning Multiple Entire Dogs Without Kenneling Arrangements?
Fanuilos replied to mr.mister's topic in Breeders Community
We have two entire boys and two entire girls. Of the boys, one is still a puppy, the other has a Suprelorin implant which is a male contraceptive. With the implant, you do run the risk of the testies shrinking which is a no no for a show dog, but it is reversible. The implant comes as either a 6 or 12 month implant, so I guess you can try it out for the side effect. It didn't happen with our boy. He's now gone through two seasons, one for each girl and other than the odd sniff, has never tried anything. -
2 AI on two maiden bitches. Both successful litters, 6 in one and 1 in the oter. We only did one mating for each via surgery with frozen semen. We opted to go this way as we used OS dogs as we wanted to help expand the gene pool here for our breed. AI is time consuming compared to a natural mating as you have to test Progestrone levels every second day and then day to find the optimal time for surgery. This can be 15 or 20 days into a season, so that is a lot of trips to the vet for tests.

Another White Swiss Shepherd Dog Brag!

Yay the Swedes ROCK!!!! Congratulations to Dale for the win for Riot and the fab handling of Inga! Ange, Dale, you guys rock too! -
We used Cryogenes for a shipment from Germany last year. They were fantastic, they communicated all the health testing requirements to the collecting vet via their regular vet in Germany prior to collecting and everything. We were on a group shipper, which cut the costs for us. I was very happy with their service.

Umm, they are worried about depression in the offspring??? WTF? How can you tell if a Polar Bear is depressed? Obviously they don't want EmoBears at the zoo right. I'm sure Knut will be depressed if he becomes Knutless. Okay, lame but I had to add to the Knutless Knut jokes.

Flying A Puppy From Melbourne To Newcastle
Fanuilos replied to Shakti's topic in General Dog Discussion
How old is the puppy? Most of the professional services are actually pretty reasonable with pricing for puppies. $207 for a medium breed puppy to go from Melbourne to Perth with Jetpets. -
Giardia can give dogs diarrhoea. To diagnosis this, the vet has to check a stool sample. Dogs can get this from contaminated water and I don't mean dirty water. Many cities water supplies have outbreaks of Giardia and it affects humans as well.

We have two cats and our girl likes to chase the cats. Normally they are inside/outside cats but when we have a litter they are mainly outside and we lock them in the bathroom at nights to keep them safe. We have our whelping box set up in the family room with lots of newspaper and old towels on hand as we use them to line the box. The newspaper and old towels are replaced twice a day, more now that they are on solids but we have 9 pups. We also have a large sheet of lino we purchased from Bunnings under and around the whelping box and a puppy pen set up around the lino. The lino makes cleaning easier. When we had a singleton litter we found we only needed to change the towels and papers once or twice a day as Mum cleans up most of the poos.

Sallywell, boy I beat you were surprised. There are alot of things you need to do which are different for a singleton litter to if she'd had a large litter. Make sure your girl is on puppy food still as this has the extra nutrients a lactating bitch needs. With a singleton puppy there is no need to feed her too much extra, if any, as she won't be producing a lot of milk for the pups. Also, you will need to be thorough in checking her breasts daily for mastitis as this is more likely to happen as the breasts aren't being drained by 6-9 pups. Keep an eye on the puppy's weight, singletons can often turn into chunky monkeys as they have all the food for themselves, also they have a higher chance of becoming 'swimmer pups', so if you pop them in an enclosure make sure you line it with something rough like rippled foam for the puppy to climb over and develop the strength in its leg muscles. Normally puppies will develop this climbing over their littermates to get to the nipples. Once the pup is a little older, you'll need to socialise it the way littermates normally do. This part is harder but the pup needs to learn bite inhabition and things like that. Mum normally does this to, but given Mum is only 8 months old she is still a puppy herself so might not have those things mastered yet.

Goodluck to everyone attending the Canberra Royal this weekend!

I brought two of these last year and after the dogs destroyed the canvas in 5 seconds (okay it was about 24hrs), I tried to take it apart so I could replace the mats. End of story, two frames at the dump as we couldn't get some of the screws undone, even with brute manstrength and WD40 Mind you, the same thing happened with a more expensive brand of bed.

Wyndham Owners Face Fines For Aggressive Dogs In Back Yards

I might call the council to find out how to put in an objection. And maybe get WODC to have a petition at the club rooms. -
Wyndham Owners Face Fines For Aggressive Dogs In Back Yards
Fanuilos replied to shel's topic in In The News
This is ridiculous. I am a Wyndham resident and the council should clean up the streets here first before worrying about some dogs barking. I often wonder what I pay my rates for..... -
OH and I found that when we sat the DogsVic one recently. Also, it refers alot to the COE published in x year and only has the more recent one in the reference material, which could cause some people to answer questions incorrectly. We provided this feedback to DogsVic.

Your dog should have an ID/collection numer from the first sample taken. Given them a call with the number and they should be able to run the test you are after, if there is enough DNA. Some times there isn't enough or the quality isn't good enough. I had this happen but I wasn't surprised as it was a DNA sample taken from frozen semen.
