  1. I agree SnT the steady feet game is a great way to teach a SFE and the dog very quickly learns the game. Sue Hogben is the guru for teaching this and has spread the method all over oz.
  2. What do you think about the new costs? http://www.daff.gov.au/bsg/biosecurity-fee-review-2014/post-entry-quarantine-animal-imports-non-horse
  3. FANTASTIC Tassie Wow and this is a week after travelling to the mainland - Gooooooooo Rory
  4. I heard the WA crew did well today in both HWM and freestyle
  5. Thanks for this - I have sent them an email.
  6. I would guess and say 99% of vets here would have an account at Vet Path and would happily pulls bloods and send it off. My vet comes to my house, so I can just wait until she is on one of her return visits and have it done (my kids were all done a couple of months ago, so don't have to worry about it for a while), otherwise I have used the local vet practice. So its not an issue here in WA.
  7. A list would be very handy, especially for somebody like me, who is on the other side of the country trying to find somebody to do it, who isn't charging an arm and a leg. I guess the problem is that prices could change......... My vet has moved to Sydney, and comes back to WA every couple of weeks, so once she starts practising, I will be ok for my puppy people in Sydney
  8. I rang this clinic this morning - yep they do it $180 for parvo and distemper and yes they send bloods to Perth. CC it looks like you get a special price
  9. Thanks SnT - I will ring them tomorrow.
  10. I pay about $75.00 for each dog for titre testing . My vet Bob Cavey, Ultimate Vet in Narre Warren South sends blood to VetPath in WA. Canine Coach do you have a phone number for this practice please?
  11. Had fantastic dealings with Flemington Vet Hospital today - I decided to name them - because they were good. Receptionist said she would get vet to call me and the vet did within a few minutes. As SnT explained there is no demand for titre testing. The vet and several in the practice had done TT in the past - but costs made it impractical to continue so they went back to vaccinating. They would have to send the blood to Gribbles who would possibly forward it to Vet Path - so in effect you are paying for a middle man. They are prepared to take the blood, spin it and hand it to the owner. $100 (which is a bit expensive) - but at least they were more than prepared to hear me out and work with me. The one interesting thing was that they had a locum Singaporean vet working with them last year who did a lot of titre testing!
  12. Today I rang Dr Saranyu Melinda Pearson at Paws to Heal 5277 0554 - what a nice lady - she answered the phone, and was fantastic - yes she sends them to Perth, she is trying to change the culture in Victoria, but its a long slow battle. Cost is $110 for Parvo and Distemper
  13. Thanks SnT for your input - its much appreciated to see it from the other side of the fence.
  14. Is a vet likely to hand over a vial of blood to a client for them to send it overseas. I know my vet will, but unsure if this is "normal and acceptable practice" or not and out of interest if I want blood drawn - do a need a consult to do this - or can a vet nurse do it (no I don't want results interpreted or need to chat to anybody about it) If it has to be done as part of a consult - are there added charges to draw the blood?
  15. Thanks CC - have just finished reading the other thread. Glad you did send the blood to the US. I send blood there for thyroid testing, Vet Path spin it and we pick it up and send it off. Being nosey - did a vet pull the blood, spin it and then give it to you to post? Can I ask about postage too please. This might actually be the most economical option. I am due to send bloods away for TgAA testing in the next couple of months and a couple of my kids came back with 1:<5 parvo results - so I may send more blood and get another titre done at the same time. I love it how the DOL family pool resources and we come up with lots of options to a problem. Many thanks
  16. Funny you say that Sayreovi - from the reaction I got from the receptionists - who were all very very nice - I gathered it wasn't a frequent request. I was saving ringing Geelong until I had exhausted all other options - I am a bit like a dog with a bone - I don't give up easily!
  17. Nope Brunswick west is in the Northern 'burbs'. Mt Waverley is a S.E.'burb'. Bugger
  18. Thanks for all the suggestions and prices. Today I rang around a few vets in Victoria, *cough* $400, *cough* $260 + $65 consult fee and finally one who were by far the most helpful and I didn't have to repeat three times to the receptionist what I wanted. They were $240, however I did have to spell out letter by letter the breed of the dog that I wanted tested. They send the blood locally to be tested, not to WA (which confused me a bit!) I am yet to ring Geelong and I will wait a few days to see if anybody else can chime in with any other recommendations and prices. Thanks for suggestion of ringing Vet Path direct to find clinics in Victoria who use them - good suggestion - I hadn't thought of that. CavNrott - is Mt Waverley anywhere near Bruswick west?
  19. Can one of my Victorian Friends help me please. I am after a vet around the Brunswick West area who does titre testing - and pushing the boundaries - does anybody know how much they charge for parvo and distemper? I am spoilt living in the West and so close to VetPath Many thanks
  20. After tonight's trial, its now Naughty Nina CCD with three scores of 99/100. Good girl Ninny
  21. Brisbane has the National Agility Champs in June and I know there are a heap of dogs heading over there from Perth
  22. My dog and his crate weight 29kg and it cost me $100 to fly Perth to Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide or Melbourne with Virgin (one way and accompanied)
  23. I am interested to hear what other have to say. I am waiting for my girl to come into season and will be used frozen semen on her (which I haven't done before) The other thing I am considering is doing a dual mating - so I would be interested to hear outcomes of previous dual mating litters (if one sire was more dominant)
  24. Well done Superminty - I have no idea what cross drive is - but it sounds important Fantastic work Waldo - onto open you go. Little Naughty Nina tonight won CCD at the Western Classic with another 99/100 - good girl NN
