Training When You Have More Than One Dog
Ptolomy replied to Vickie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My youngsters scream blue murder when I get the older ones out to train - it doesn't last long, but it indicates to me that they know what is going on and they really really want it to be their turn. They are on lead in the back of the car. The older kids just chill out waiting for me to call their names to say its their turn. I have started tugging with the youngest and I noticed last night the next one up the age ladder started squealling. Might have to start tugging with her too. -
Woo Hoo another one comes out of hiding - welcome So have you entered CCD or novice
-
Yep just not sure which red kid I will bring
-
HMM I think the cost is too high ;)

OK - starting up a production here its offical you can be our support crew, motivator and entertainment advisor. Now need to look for events coordinator and financial backer

I have to agree RallyValley I think its more fun when you have somebody to share the experience with. So........maybe you and Rubystar need to make some plans TSD - it wont be long before you are competing at the Retrieving Nationals the way you are going

14th April Rubystar Maybe you need to think of it as a holiday with your kids. We have a lot of fun , usually end up clothes shopping and as I said the boys get on so well that it makes life very easy. We have a bit of a routine, share the cooking duties, although Bedazzled is a much better cook than I am - so I usually organise the dog treats. I drive, Debazzled navigates and it works really well. The difference this time will be ..........a third dog , so instead of hiring a 4WD we have had to go for a Van, we are on different flights, so hopefully everything will work out OK. Its something you should put on your todo list, its kind of addictive in a way, meeting new people, watching how others do things and if your dog does well - its the icing on the cake. If all else fails - there is always the nice cheese, the chocolate and the coldies in the fridge waiting for us when we get home

Ours hasn't happened yet, but the thought of spending $1000 to get to one trial is a bit and puts extra pressure on to not look like we have never had a training session in our lives and know nuffing The fact that we have a lot of fun travelling together, the dogs get on well and we WILL find the closest liquor shop will mean we will enjoy the trip Whenever we have gone away in the past we have always had a great leadup, done all the distraction training which at least meant mentally you knew you couldn't have done any more - not this time!!!

Argh now that you have entered you can come and join myself and Bedazzled and watch it all come tumbling down :p Our current training plan is called break, patch, repair as best you can and cross your fingers This is followed up by mumbling something about whose great idea it was to enter the upcoming trial. Add to this the fact that ALL our other class exercises are crumbling and our confidence is down around our knees. I guess the only way is UP from here - so wishing you Good Luck, stay calm and looking forward to hearing how you get on. I have blown the dust off Soggy and will be bringing her out for her first trial in 5 months this weekend. Looking forward to seeing what she remembers ;)

Argh she has been taking lessons from Strauss!!!!!
-
Showdog you forgot to mention the selfish people who come afterhours to pick their dogs up because something was way more important - so you are left hanging around waiting....waiting.....waiting....
-
Emery can I ask where you are getting them done and who will you send the X-rays too. I need to get Soggy's done at some point, and in another thread everybody advised to avoid 9 weeks after they have been in season - so will leave it another couple of months - but I would like to be organised and have a plan in my mind

Try raw sweet potato - peeled and cut up

HUgs to you Jo - its been a tough few days with problems calving and now this CC I would love you to take some photos of my kids. I want a group shot because I bought a 50cm x 1m canvas thingy that I can have a photo put onto. I have to use it before October from memory and my photographic abilities are about as good as my science ones. Besides, with so many kids its hard trying to make sure they are all looking in the same direction, eyes open and smiling while trying to push the go button. My latest efforts from last night mum has put on her FB page - but they are not what you call brilliant and the fact that 2minutes beforehand they were playing chasey in the backyard and were all full of slobber just adds to the overall look

Throw a toy directly out in front of where the dog is sitting on the other side of the jump and tell her to getit, or place a toy on the ground a couple of metres away from the broad jump and tell her to get it OR Place a post a step away of where she would land when she does the broad jump and teach her to run around the post before presenting.

Jo you are a star this website is so easy to follow and read, not only that but you make your own collars and have a farm, lots of animals and kids to look after
-
Okay changed to call names will play around with backgorund and colour and see what i can come up with Good work Emery - its just the tweeking you have to do now I decided a couple of years ago to have a go at a website - and must admit I loved playing around with it and designing it and to begin with, it used to get updated all the time. Now it is a chore to update the news page and the photos are way out of date. I do get a lot of enquiries through the website though, so think it is worth continuing. http://www.freewebs.com/antollergee/ Anybody else got a website??
