OSoSwift - I think you need to move closer to the City so we can see more of you and you can trial more often - otherwise you need to rent the kids out for the weekend and do a car pool with your friends that came up last weekend - once a month sounds good to me You should be tickled pink firstly with uploading the video and secondly with Lewis's work - very very nice

Scoota Update Its hard to believe its that same dog who 2 weeks ago would turn his nose up at anything but chicken and then would just pick at it. He is now the last to be fed and most times is the first finished. I said to caffy tonight, that I will have to be careful with the amount he is eating that he doesn't balloon out. The last lot of bloods he had done last Monday - showed that all his enzymes were still through the roof, but I think that perhaps the bloods will be the last thing to improve. On the outside he is like the Scoota of old and his batteries no long run out after 2 minutes of activity. He joins in playing with the other kids, he brings me shoes and then runs to the fridge waiting for his reward and he is a happy boy and I am a very happy mum. Back to Murdoch again next Thursday.

Yay I will drink to that - raising a glass to Zeus

Having done my own fair share of crying over the last couple of weeks - we are all there with you Emery - everybody always says saying goodbye is the right thing to do - but that just made me cry even more. HUgs mate...... gees I have something in my eye again (as she goes off rubbing her eyes.....)

When I only had Lara and desperately wanted another dog to teach/trial - lots of people gave me advice and said I would be better off waiting for her to be around 5 -6 years of age before getting a puppy. Their reasoning was ......if the older dog is still learning, then you don't have as much time to spend with the puppy. Its better that the older dog is in the maintanence phase and in later years you don't end up with 2 old dogs 8 and 10 who are both past their trialling stage and you are then left with no dogs to play with. I listened to this to begin with and their were 4 years between the first 2 kids and then it all went down hill as the age difference was then 2 yrs, 3yrs, 6 moths, 3 years and 1 year....... There will always be puppies around that you want/like and bitches that you like that are pregnant. Yes Mason is nearly through CCD - but there is so much both you and him don't know, that I have to be honest and say that isn't justification to get another puppy now. BUT I also have to be honest and say if it was me .........yep If I wanted another one then I would go and get one.....

Strauss could be something very special, the little bits he does now are beautiful and I have to be honest and say up until now I have had the mindset that he is a stud dog, he is not like Cider and I don't really have the time to put into him. But thinking about it - what he does now has been achieved with very little effort on my part. I now don't have lots of dogs to play with and I have had a change of mindset and I will be spending more time on Strauss and Cider. He does play, he does retrieve and he does love food - so while he is not as driven in Cider - he could in fact be better than she. Bedazzled and I often say the highest scoring rounds that we get out of Scoota and Brooklyn are those that are not over the top!
-
My 10 cents worth - its much easier to work with a dog that you don't have to motivate or negotiate with. I have had dogs where yes I get a great score with but I come out of the ring exhausted because it required so much effort from me to motivate them. Give me a Cider any day
-
NIk do you reward Annie with food and is she swivelling towards the side you carry your food? I tend to always have my food out and reward straight in front as the dog comes in and sits - no diving in pockets to get it out - as this enourages the dog to swivel

Bugger about the car Rally Valley - I hope your "friends" can find out who did it and "getem" Let us know if there is anything we can do for you

Tony - what does your boy do and did it happen from the word go??

Mason was an extra good boy today - well done and only one more to go Lovely score too :D Scoota - update...... This morning he was the last to be fed and the first to finish (I really wanted to post this in the brags thread ;) ). He has had a good couple of days - so I took him for an outing to the trial today where he enjoyed his morning, ate a jackpot and then came home and polished off his lunch in no time. It was almost like I had the old bright and bubbly Scoota today. Fingers crossed tomorrow for our Murdoch visit.

I am going to post a woo hoo for both Bedazzled and Caffy Brookie came oh so close to a UDX pass today but for the last exercise - where he ran a straight line out to the blind retrieve and then wouldn't pick it up because it had the stewards scent all over it. It was also put in the same place where the seekback decoy was placed - but his work in all the other UDX bits was top notch - well done mate Caffy's boy Snazzy worked a beautiful open round - his DOR was magnificent, I liked his heelwork only to fail the last exercise - bugger! Mason was a very good boy today and so was Ruby - brags to follow.......
-
Brookie looked back to the Reliable old Brookie today - he was happy and his UD work was lovely 195 is a terrific score I'm with you.....UDX sucks!!!
-
HUGE congrats and you made my afternoon when I read your text - woo hoo - now did anybody get it on video???? I am going to come our of the closet and say Ruby is my favourite!!!!!

Oh Emery - so sorry to hear about your boy and yep join the beating yourself up club - think we almost have a full committee by now. So next week will be a big week for a lot of our kids with vet follow-ups, fingers crossed for all of them xx

What colours did you go for as I can't decide. Neither could I, so many options and there are so many new ones that I love! I ended up getting just two coloured leads instead of the 3-4 coloured ones, I got black/shocking pink, black/turquoise, black/blue, black/purple, black/apple and orange/white <---- my attempt at getting a blending lead. A bit overboard but I couldn't decide I got them to do obedience as well, as I needed a short light lead and I figure they could all double as show leads. Now you have totally confused me as black wouldn't have been in any of my choices to use as a show lead.....back to the drawing board I go

As I posted on FB - receptionists can either make or break a vet practice and I will not be returning to my usual practice ever again. I also feel that having to wait 24 hours for blood test results in this day and age is at least 12 hours too long - hmmmm. Well bloods have come back showing very little improvement and they now show some kidney involvement. Feeling let down by the usual practice I emailed Bean's specialist and received a reply within minutes arranging an appointment for scoota to see a specialist I have previous had one of my kids to, and who I think a lot of. We have an appointment on Monday. I have also received an email from his accupuncture vet who will write us a referral and will meet us on Monday for the appointment. There are some very special vets in this world - for which I am very lucky to have dealings with 3 of them - thanks guys you are all one in a million :D and to my former practice - I don't appreciate the treatment I received today from either the receptionist or the head vet, and like I said earlier I will not be going back.

My friend's litter has just gone to new homes and she bought from Clark Rubber the non slip matting that goes under floor rugs or you put on the highchair tables of kids to stop their bowls sliding around. It wasn't slippery for the pups to move around on and moisture could go straight through to the newspaper underneath and each day she would take it outside, hose it off and it would be dry in no time ready to use again.
