Goodonya Jules P - I bet Poppy enjoyed doing some different things and open is a lot more fun than CCD. Tassie I am having sit stay issues at the moment. I have been flogging downs and rewarding them with some very high value treats so if in doubt she is offering a down. I also have to admit that I really have lumped the sit stay training. She went from a dog who looked like I beat her ever day of her life in a sit stay to having a small break and coming back and sitting confidently for 60 seconds and I have just sort of lumped and gone out of sight knowing full well that she is not solid on her in sight ones yet. Yesterday she dropped at 2 1/2 minutes, today it was 75 seconds - which just confirmed she doesn't understand sit stay. So I have gone back to trying to lure her out of a sit with food, then once this was solid, I started standing in front of her and say are you ready.....and of course she was and she moved, so we worked on this, then I added running off and that made her move very quickly, so we are currently working through that one, this morning I also threw a dokken which she just loves and this was wayyyy above where we are at at the moment - so we have gone back to me running from her in all directions. I am trying to work through each step fairly quickly tomorrow if all goes well I am going to walk away and sit on the ground, I will also walk away and walk around the car, perhaps that will be an opportunity to bring the dokken out again and see what happens. So fingers crossed I will be able to start building duration and distance soon.

It must be the day for good news and cute photos :D Latest blood tests results on Scoota and woo hoo bad results have been halved cholesterol has dropped from 17.7 to 8.8 ALT (liver enzyme) from 2400 to 1100 and Bilirubin from 80 to 20. These are all still out of the reference range but at least we are heading in the right direction and yep it looks more like poisoning now. So opening a bottle of red and raising a glass to Scoota and his specialist

Hey RV good work - gees he has improved a heap! OK - homework for you....... When you send him around to heel you move your entire body firstly to the right and then you turn the other way to watch him to line up. Try and keep your body facing frontwards and just use your hand to send him around rather than your hand, arm, shoulders and head :-). Also would like to see video of some more fronts. I am not sure if he is coming in close and then sitting back or not.

I will join you RV in putting fronts and turns on the training list for the next couple of weeks A little clip of STrauss Mouse taken at training tonight (thanks Bedazzled). Its a work in progress but I am pleased with how it is going considering at one stage he was going to be a stud/show dog only.

I admit I once carried around Blaize fur in my purse for over a year trying to find the perfect coloured toller pants AND when I first started trialling I used to change my pants in the back of the car so they matched the colour dog I had in the ring - those were the days In a normal trial its usually trackie pants for me but the big ones I always make an effort to look spiffy ;)

 to the puppy photos

Wuffles I wrote a reply and then my computer has a spack attack and I lost everything (it had nothing to do with the handler!!) Basically - today I was with some retrieving people who were helping me with Strauss and the doekkens. Their comments was not to introduce any formality into the retrieve until I had built value for the doekken. So they suggested that I got on the ground as he came back and took it off him without asking for a hold or a sit just take it off him before he dropped it and if he did well I didn;t get there soon enough. They wanted me to play with the dog and the doekken, bang it on the floor, rev him up are you going to get it until he was like a loonie wanting to race after it. I am wondering if this might work in your case. I wouldn't usually suggest something like this as I tend to teach formality the hold, the pick up etc but it may work with your girl. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

OSS Rommi is lovely I'm not sure who is my favourite out of your 2 kids. OK - you can't post a video without us giving you some homework........... When you do a change of positions, Rommi moves forward. You are throwing away at least 1 point in novice and as you move up the classes it will be a couple of points. So your challenge is to teach her to drop on the spot without moving forward. Looking forward to seeing video in a weeks time (no pressure!!)

We introduced Strauss to doekkens today and I have a little retriever on my hands - as she runs off to post in the retrieveing thread. Can and will now use this to reward some of his obedience work.
