-
OH and I forgot to add - you might have to fight us for the numpty title :D

Brennans mum we all have our own hanidcaps and hurdles to overcome and whats great about this thread is that you can post here and nobody is going to judge you - they are more likely to pat you on the back and say ...well done mate. I think Rally Valley can vouch for what I am saying. and the bestest bit is that we can all watch you grow Keep up the good work and keep posting ;)

I actually think that CCD has its place and a couple of weeks ago I did my first CCD not for competition round, taking in a very baby dog to see where he was at. I spoke to the judge as I went in said no fast or slow pace and happy for a shortened heel round. So NFC is like a training round only you can't use food or toys in the ring. So although I have a few years of experience under my belt, I thought this was a great way to introduce the very novice dog to the ring in a really really positive way, and I have to say that I learnt a lot about the dog taking him in. Something I did learn was that I hadn't done enough on lead training so when I did the SFE and tried to put the lead on the right side of his head as I returned, this made him move all 4 feet, so guess what we have been practicing, flicking arms and hands and leads in all different directions with lots of treats for not moving......

SLLH - a 95cm lead is more than long enough. Dare I ask how wide it is - I have to say a pet hate are horse leads used in the CCD ring. I would have made a fortune for every time I have given a CCD person a lead to borrow for the day. ......and before you answer if it is anything wider than 15mm ( well I would usually say 10mm but I am being nice) its too wide!

Terrific Tollers And Luscious Labs
Ptolomy replied to CrazyCresties's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
CC is brilliant - never once did she grumble about laying on the wet grass or that fact that one of the naughty tollers had taken off to the far corners of the earth because there might have been something exciting over there to look at I think you should give up your day job CC ;) -
Oh kallistar so close and yet so far - I really feel for you...... UM I think you might have to have a comp with Bedazzled as to the worst db thrower ;) If anybody comes across Scoota's sits can you please send them back. It appears I have been mega rewarding Stands and this is now his default for everything - bless him :D

Well done Ness - was it garlic prawns for a jackpot?

Bustam - I feel for you - my boy was diagnosed with liver failure back in April. He went from being a guts to not eating anything at all overnight, hence I knew he was really really unwell. Blood tests showed his liver enzymes were screwed BIGTIME, cholesterol was through the roof and his bilirubin was very high. The local vet recommended that he go on a low protein diet - Hills - so I brought 5 cans and went home to give it a go and the dog wouldn't touch it. The vet suggested I mix vegemite with it and he still wouldn't touch it. Scoota lost 1kg in a week and it became a case of finding something, anything that he would eat. The only thing he would touch was chicken necks and he lived on those for 3 weeks. He is still on a realatively low protein diet - no red meat, with fish and chicken being his main source of protein. I suggest you ask your vet, in combination with whatever medication they give you, about milk thistle and SAMe Good luck.....

Ness - where's the video - well done on your pass and getting through the sit stay. One more to go TSD the first pass is the bestest - well done ;)

Some good bits and some not so good bits by the sounds of things Xena98 - hang in there ;) I had a lesson with the guru earlier in the week and have a bit of a game plan. We did a bit of testing and if the decoy seekback has any of my scent on it - he will bring it back thinking it is the right one. I have 8 seekback sets and was rotating them so they were being reused every 3 weeks (working on an average of 3 sets a week). Funny enough, although I can reuse the UD scent articles the following day, 3 weeks is too soon for the decoy article. You live and learn...... Have changed a few things training wise, broke a few things and now have to attempt to put them back together again - so it will be interesting to see what happens at the next trial in 3 weeks time. A lot of the things we covered weren't UDX specific and were things I can do with the other kids. Funny how you forget and go off on a tangent. I should have lessons more often to bring me back to the start peg LOL
-
;) Wow what a brilliant way to get your title. So dare we ask where you lost your 3 points . Huge congratulations. Make sure you celebrate - makes all the training worthwhile ;)
-
Emery that suxs but I am here to make you feel sooooo much better. ;) If you think that you are hard done by my week has consisted of........... Monday - Mum falling over, dislocating and breaking her shoulder. Tuesday - spending 8 hours in ED with mum Wednesday - Blood test results back on one of my kids which aren't good Friday - Taking Scoota to the vet for a tune up thinking that he is moving OK only to have him need 26 accupuncture needles and 3 adjustments Needless to say tomorrow my answer for everything will be to pull the blankets over my head and tell eveybody to go away! I really hope that you enjoy your birthday......
-
CC you are so talented - thanks so much for posting the link. I have a little "thank you" for when I next see you and Strauss's breeder is over the moon with the ones I sent her. Mum fell over last night, so today I spent 8 hours in the Emergency Department, she has dislocated and fractured her shoulder. OMG that means I am on cooking duty - oh well good way to lose weight
-
I would put my money on her coming into season sometime in the next 2-3 weeks. Have just been through this with my toller girl and I remember she came into season just before Jovi did last time.
-
Wow Emery you must be tickled pink with Chance - and........how long ago was it you had your baby - must be all of 5 minutes!
-
Well done Tassie and Rory. As I said on FB time to get some obedience titles now......after you sort out your stays issues ;)
-
See you at the drawing board Kallistar ;) UDX trial yesterday and we muffed PIM (my fault verbal sit on the wrong foot doesn't work) and distance control (his fault as he has taken to dropping and rolling over on a hip which translates to a missed next position). Have called in the guru for assistance.......
-
and you got to take the best dog home. I used to give newby handlers my old girl Lara to play with and warm up with, she was the perfect dog for this and would do wonders for the newbies confidence which is half the battle. They would then go back to their own dogs with more confidence and make less mistakes.
-
Yep I am guilty of this ;)
-
8 hours driving WOW but a UD was well worth it. Think you should come to WA next Huge Congratulations to you and Coco
-
Well done RV with both Toby and Zora. Your little girl is a princess
-
I doubt it ;)
