  1. I have just returned home from the trial I wasn't going to do - kind of glad I went even though we didn;t pass. And I have been home 15 minutes and Bedazzled you will be happy to hear I have mount Scoota happening - so far its a door stop, a bathmat and 2 shoes........ We did UD first and again his brain was fried in the seekback but he did bring it back eventually but then went on and failed the 2nd box when he went over the jump on the way to the box - hmm think thats a new one! UDX and he came out happy - went straight to the correct article in the seekback, but stood over it and then went off pretending to look for who knows what - came back to the article - and eventually brought it back - lost 8 for that! PIM were lovely As the steward brought my wash cloths into the ring he also had my blind retrieve articles showed them to the judge who said I couldn't use them Yet these were the same articles I used at the Nationals in Queensland in June and the same ones I use each week in WA. so judge said I can do the exercise but I will get zero. Anyway - back to the wash cloths and they were brilliant - 3rd cloth he came to and he picked it up and straight back with it Sendaway and this time I had to tell him to sit before he ran out the back of the box - hmm not had that happen before and he got full marks .:D COP - yep happy with this one too and then I had a brain wave and asked somebody to grab my UD scent articles from the car - so I used the leathers from this set. Hmm only problem was there were dead patches of grass and holes inbetween where we were standing and where the article was put and then I was sending him for something he was not used to looking for - in fact he ran up to it, smelt the article and then kept searching...... - so I called him back and had a play and we called it quits. INteresting that not 1 dog passed the blind retrieve - I think that says a lot. Opted not to do stays and had a game of i-squeak instead. At presentations I managed to find somebody selling white leather articles - just normal scent leathers but in white - so I grabbed 3 of these to use at next weekends trial. Bedazzled I would have grabbed you some - but what you are already using is way better
  2. Do you realise we are up to 17 pages of expressing our frustration
  3. Kallistar its sooooooo frustrating. I guess its no different to what we went through with UD - but that was eons ago and I think I have forgotton how bad it was. So close and yet so far. I am currently on holiday in Brisbane and I have entered a trial this arvo - but don;'t think I am going to do it. Its on the other side of town and logistically hard to get to and organise. I have also entered another trial next weekend. But just to prove how confident I am (NOT) I only brought 1 set of wash cloths and 1 set of scent articles for UD with me It also seems that the more you flog it in training, the less well you do at a trial - well thats my theory!
  4. I will check out the diary when I get back to Perth and let you know :D I have been there before and yep the food was great
  5. LOL Bedazzled - I will drink to that. I have to say barking is one problem you don;t want rearing its ugly head in obedience as once ingrained - it is very hard to get rid of and I can think of a zillion other ways to lose 10 points!
  6. Goodonya Kathq - you could probably add to that dumbbell, COP, sending to the box gees - not much you can't do really oh and stays!!! Keep up the good work ;) I am on holidays - staying in doggie heaven with access to a dam I noticed today when I took Moo and Moet swimming that Scoota doesn't drop the dummy and shake when he comes out of the water, but rather comes straight up the bank and brings it to me. Now if I could bottle this and sell it to the retrieving people I could make a fortune I have also started some basic obedience with a 12 month old toller. show girl. It will be interesting to see what we can achieve in 10 days.
  7. Mum fell over, dislocated and broke her shoulder. She also tore the tendon - so had a rotator cuff repair as part of the op. 6 weeks in a sling - so she comes out tomorrow and yep 6-9 months for full range of moment/recovery - so I know what you are going through. Will see you at Pine Rivers
  8. Hey kathq how did you hurt your arm and will I see you at either of the next 2 trials??
  9. Definitely Thursdays will have to be the "flog UD night" from when I get back. Hmm I also said I would start agility when I get back with the two babies too - Hmmmm.
  10. OK Rubystar - our debut will be the Northern Suburbs night night (first one for the year) in February - deal?????
  11. You are doing well Rubystar and promise to help you with gloves - when I get back LOL at going one step too far with the i-squeak. I went through this with the dumbbell work (thanks Caffy) and to begin with, it was a case of "what db" you have my i-squeak and that's all that matters. Then we progressed to Caffy having the i-squeak and that did her head in, and then Caffy squeaking the i-squeak as she ran out to the db, and in the end I had 4-5 i-squeaks on the ground which she would have to run through to get the db. She couldn't always do it and I remember on lots of occasions having to go and retrieve the dog and/or the i-squeak, but her rewards when she did do it were priceless and so was the look on her face. You never know maybe we can make our debut in UD on the same night - Ruby and Soggy Pity the poor judge that night eh!
  12. Happy Birthday Scoota and Dekka fish and yoghurt for breakfast yummo
  13. The kids enjoyed themselves today The club that ran todays trial offered cheap entries so I decided to support them by entering all the kids, but kind of regretted it when the temp got to 35 degrees at home. Luckily it was a bit cooler at the trial. Lexi hasn't obedience trialed for 2 years as she was a stress head, so I blew the dust off her and we had a good time in the ring, she didn't fail any of the exercises, but decided that sits were optional so lost as truck load of points. We didn't do stays. Good girl Lex - she will sleep well tonight For my own sanity, Beans retired from UD about 18 months ago. Today she came out and passed all the exercises except signals. Pleased as punch with her Cider has come a long way and today completed a round and won open under a judge who couldn't get within cooee of her not so long ago, and then she did her sit stay and STrauss Mouse, wore a cool coat for the first time like he had been wearing one all his life - he won CCD. and just to prove that they are not robots - The occasionally clever (OC) one wasn't very clever today
  14. Today the occasionally clever one decided that on both the UDX and UD seekback that he would leave the ring and take a pee on a light post. One slightly used OC UDX JDM ADM ADO JDO SPDM GDX SDX dog going very cheaply
  15. Mirawee - One year blends into another it wasn't last year but ? the year before. I was going to take my bat and ball and head home, but remember hanging around and doing some training instead. I also didn't make a song and dance about it
  16. Kennel Cough.....from WikiBoth viral and bacterial causes of kennel cough are spread through the air by infected dogs sneezing and coughing. It can also spread through contact with contaminated surfaces and through direct contact. It is highly contagious, even days or weeks after symptoms disappear. Symptoms begin usually 3 to 5 days after exposure.[ Symptoms Symptoms can include a harsh, dry hacking/coughing, retching, sneezing, snorting, gagging or vomiting in response to light pressing of thetrachea or after excitement or exercise. The presence of a fever varies from case to case. The disease can last initially from 10-20 days and can rebreak when the dog is put into a stressful situation which puts stress on the dog's immune system. Diagnosis is made by seeing these symptoms; having a history of exposure is also helpful but not always found, as kennel cough is easily spread through contact with contaminated surfaces such as the ground, toys, and sidewalks.
  17. We met Margaret a couple of years ago when we came to Victoria for the National Obedience Champs. She is a lovely lady and we were sorry to hear she was retiring Well done on your first attempt at open
  18. Um they didn't let me compete when mine went missing Many years ago when I was living in BUnbury I came up for the State Obedience Trial - got to K9 only to find they hadn't received my entries - it was a long drive home.
  19. JO posted an email yesterday saying its only going to be 29 in Rockingham today and by the afternoon the sea breeze will be in. Yep Bedazzled and I will go and if all else fails the kids can have a run chasing the seagulls
  20. TSD what a fantastic day and yep will raise a glass to you tonight Going to brag for Caffy and Snaz who on their first outing in many months came out and won masters jumping. Have already raised a glass for the two of you
  21. Its supposed to be 35 degrees in Perth tomorrow and I have 5 kids entered in obedience, one of them is entered in 2 classes. I don't usually trial this many but one of the clubs had cheap entries so wanted to do my bit to support them. Have made a note to self that the youngest two will start agility training when I get back from Brisbane ( the three older ones are all retired from agility) and I am thinking about a puppy in the next 2 years. Off to resume my rocking in the corner, while singing......... they are coming to take me away
  22. Rusky - I called into the GSDA trial on the way home from Graeme's wedding and hear that your bad day didn't end with this mornings Roo incident. I have to say its no wonder people are giving trialing a miss Hugs mate
  23. I think we are all worry worts Beth. One of my kids cut her leg and had stitches recently and then developed an infection, just in time for the Royal Show. She is still on antibiotics, and today I found one of the ? internal stitches has surfaced, so i removed that, so hopefully we wont have any more problems.
