Goodluck Heidii Do others x-ray and if so how long before hand - Is there any risk to the bitch (only asking because I know for humans there is)

Gees I don't check in here for a couple of days and I miss out on a truck load of "stuff" happening. Glad to hear Gibbs is doing well after his op. Do you have a rehab plab from the specialist, as it seems to be a weak point of most orthopods be in the human and animal world? I would be asking for one in writing Happy belated birthday to Rosie - I know your mum spoilt you Mirrawee - ONE MORE SLEEP - how exciting. We will all be waiting for photos to be posted tomorrow please I have some news.......... I am going to be a Granny ................... yep Cider is having puppies and Chica comes home on Thursday Never a dull moment in my house

We are having babies, just not very many. Vet can feel 2, but the girl had a very full bladder - so she thinks there might be 1 or 2 more. The babies are also small for 29 days. She had 5 matings, the first one was day 10, the last day 14 - so may be due anywhere from 22 to 26th I have my fingers and toes crossed for you OSS - Cider was also a food scab. The vet has suggested from week 6 that I change the dry Adult food I have been feeding in the am to puppy biscuits because of the higher calcium and phosphate levels. Has anybody done or heard this before?

Thyroid Levels Ok But T3 Could Be Higher
Ptolomy replied to Erny's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have just checked our T3 results - they were originally 33 and 4 months later had dropped to 19 Dog 2 was 24 (only tested the once) and out of interest, the last dog was 37 - so really all three have relatively low T3. Still looking for this article.....I will find it! -
Thyroid Levels Ok But T3 Could Be Higher
Ptolomy replied to Erny's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Erny I thyroid tested three of my kids and two out of 3 came back with low T3. I found an article saying that it can be attributed to low carbohydrate in the diet, and in our case that would fit since I was being lazy and giving them meat and veges but no carbs. I have since lifted my game and will be retesting one of the kids tomorrow but only for T4, but will repeat the T3 in 6 months time. I am heading out the door. I have had a quick look for the article (I have filed it somewhere safe) and of course can't find it, but I will have another look when I get home. -
Good luck - I have fingers and toes crossed for you

OSS I am not doing an ultrasound this time (boy I really really want to), but read there was a link between ultrasound and reabsorbsion and that did my head in. I ultrasounded my last 2 litters and didn't have a problem as what we saw was what we got. Have discussed it with my vet and this time we are going by feel???? I don't do not knowing and I don't do waiting.......... what about you???? How's Rommi going?
-
I still don;t have a confirmed pregnancy - but I think she has changed shape, she is ravenous and she is more cuddly - so going on that I think she is. She will be 29 days on Monday - and that's when we are off to the vet

Australian Obedience Team At Crufts 2012?
Ptolomy replied to Lablover's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
What an experience.......I wish the team a safe trip home. I do feel sorry for the dogs having to come home after such a short time away and 2 long flights to do 30 days in quarantine. These dogs have an extra special bond with their handlers, so being without their owners and living in kennels is going to be tough. I know my boy would stuggle BIGTIME. Having a girl currently in quarantine - the 1 hour visiting rights, three times a week - suck! -

How many weeks is she Missymoo???

Last weekend at the Western Classic the occasionally clever one had one terrific night, one good night and one OMG he passed night, and came away winning the Val Meyn trophy for the most versatile obedience and agility dog. Not a bad way to hang up his agility shoes
-
Well done smisch - your first of many JDM's I would think

For those of you not on WA Click - photos from the Western Classic. I love the one of Snazzy coming out of the tunnel and Ruby going over the broad jump. http://members.iinet...2012/index.html

I have sent blood to Jean Dodds twice in the past year (for thyroid testing). We bought a container from Vetpath and posted it through a normal post office with declarations signed which you get off the Hemopet wesbite . It was about $70 for sending blood for 6 dogs. We did have to get the blood spun first, prior to posting, which Vetpath charged $11 per vial to do. It took 10 days from the day we posted to get our results.

Need Help With Calcium And Heating Information
Ptolomy replied to Ptolomy's topic in Breeders Community
ST I have done a search for heat cords and you can get different wattages - and I don't remember what wattage my last one was. They are fairly cheap on line, but maybe I need to find another reptile shop so i can talk to somebody. Thanks for your help guys I really appreciate it. -
7 Tollers at home, 1 in Quarantine and hopefully a few in the oven ages........ 8.5, 8.5, 6, 6, 5, 2.5, 2.5, nearly 2

Well done Showdog. Who got BIS for both shows?
-
Its my first litter for 6 years (still have fingers, toes and eyes crossed that she is pregnant) and I have searched far and wide for my old notes - but having moved house 3 times, and of course I can't find any of it. I know I gave my last girl Calcium once the litter was born and I thought it was daily for a few weeks, but of course, I can't really remember and I also know last time I used a reptile heating lead which I thought worked really well - much better than a heating pad, but again I can't find it. So my questions are....... My girl weighs 15kg and is raw fed - when should I start giving calcium, how much and how often? What wattage of heating lead should I be looking at, as I will probably buy one on line.
-

Thanks Hesapandabear. I might start a thread to see what others do.
-
I hope you don't mind me asking this question in here - I possibly have a litter due in April - its 6 years since my last litter where I did give Calcium once the pups were born. But I can't remember how much I gave The bitch weighs 15kg. Does anybody mind telling me when they start, how often and how much please......
