  1. Obedience is now right outside where the show dogs are so you can't get lost! and Yes Strauss is entered in obedience not showing. although he would probably do better if I had it the other way around
  2. If the 29th is the Saturday - then there is obedience on so Bedazzled and I will be there
  3. Came and say hi - I will be there with the red kids on Rally O day
  4. Terrific actions shot Rubystar - I love em Good to see you at training last night too
  5. Its turning out to be a fantastic Royal for you Xena98 - keep up the great work tonight
  6. I would also be asking about starting Cartrophen injections. I tend to rotate my joint supplements as i think they become less effective if you use the same one all the time - think this is just the voice in my head telling me this - but it seemed to work with my old girl Lara. 2 of my kids are currently on Wagner Musseltone - Green Lipped Mussel
  7. Well done Piper - especially since it was only her second trial and it was indoors. I have competed at the Adelaide Royal and it is tough going and not something the dogs are used to. Good luck for tonight
  8. Obedience is on grand final day at the Royal (the Saturday) and I think from memory DWD and rally are on the Sunday (and no we are not entered in DWD ) I agree with Showdog the first day to go (Grand Final day) is usually the quietest
  9. Hey Lab Rat we are heading down your way for a trial in 2 weeks time at Hay Park
  10. I've been an on-off lurker and this comment has me intrigued, as I've wondered if it is possible to combine both obedience and DWD at a high level. Yes it is possible to combine both. I feel that most Heel work to music dogs are not dogs that have scored 200 in an obedience ring, so I am not sure how many handlers would notice a wide turn or heelwork that was different to what they usually get in an obedience ring. I have entered a DWD comp coming up - so started playing in the lounge room with moves. Forgetting everything I ever learnt - I was rewarding near enough type behaviours as you do when you start something new - so sits that were off, walking backwards that was wide the list goes on and no I wasn't aware of it at the time. I was also getting frantic type behavour. Came out for obedience training a week later and OMG it was ugly by my standards. So here was a dog who has been doing obedience since he was a little tacker and who is now nearly 9 who in less than 2 weeks I had moved the goal posts for. I also have to say that my dog knows no tricks, didn't know how to walk backwards - so he has been on a steep learning curve. I think if you start a dog young in DWD moves and heelwork and lift the bar at the same rate you should have no problems at all
  11. Fantastic results Canine Coach - Your girls work so beautifully Like you I too find the signs confusing and usually have to check with the judge while walking the course as to when the dog actually has to stop.
  12. Happy birthday Emery and well done on your girls results Still smiling I hope ST
  13. I think you might be hooked Sue and Waldo - well done on your first trial results Looks like you are on the right track now Xena98 - 4 more to go...... Bedazzled has one more to go and I have my glass in the freezer getting cold already!
  14. You should be tickled pink with Jovi TO - she has only been trialling for 30 seconds and to already have her JD - that's fantastic. Onto excellent you go. Well the stud dog came out on top of the 2 OC dogs in the first Rally Excellent trial in WA today - (thanks to handler error ). Well done Strauss Cider won open obedience - thanks to Bedazzled for handler her in stays and then came out and scored a perfect score in Rally novice. Have to say the round was one you would like to bottle. Beans was 3rd in Rally Advanced - she is really really enjoying Rally.
  15. Going from a down to a stand is way too advanced for a puppy and at this stage it sounds like you haven't taught the puppy to stand yet - so teach a stand before trying to combine it with another position.
  16. OH boy I can relate to this. My puppy will be 4 months old tomorrow and wakes anywhere between 4 and 5am. It was great while the Olympics were on - because I would get up turn the TV on and dose on the lounge - not so great now. Mine usually needs to go for a pee around 1am - so I take her out and have been putting her back on my bed and she settles down fairly quickly until her body clocks says its time to get up. The minute she stirs - all the big dogs move and then there is no going back. Mine is learning a truck load from the big kids so just hoping that gradually sleeping in is part of the learning curve. Meanwhile make-up to hide the bags under my eyes is my friend
  17. Gulp - I am mailing off an entry today which was going to be for 2 dogs but is now only 1. Had to write something about the dog to submit with the entry so I put....what do you get when you combine an obedience champion with lots of titles at the end of his name with somebody with 2 left feet....... Interesting but I have already noticed that DWD is screwing with his obedience - so think this might be a one off fling
  18. I claim Ciders routine pet care from Deb from my insurance company and all her blood tests
  19. Eye Ulcers are horrid. Blaize had a couple - ended up at Rivergum having it treated after the local vet tried a contact lens which last all of about 30 minutes before I found it on the kitchen floor - $300 and into the bin it went.......
  20. Finally home from a flying trip to Melbourne for their State Obedience Titles. I couldn't ask for more from the Occasionally Clever one - with him winning open and UD on the first day and open 198 and UD 194 on the second day and taking out Winner of Winners and coming oh so close to a UDX pass (just that silly blind retrieve). A nice way for him to end his interstate trialling career with his mate Brooklyn and hand over his mantle to Cider Thanks for the journey Scoota - you are a star. Also want to say thanks to all the toller owners who came out to KCC to cheer us on - 14 tollers certainly turned some heads
  21. Enjoy your guinea pig show I wonder if they have the same sort of personalities that dog showing has?
  22. Why didn't you tell me that you was going to come across and enter the Vic State trial? I would of entered even if it was just for the laughs. Good luck and I hope that you have heaps of fun and enjoy yourselves trialing here in Vic. On Sunday I am going to a Guinea Pig show (never been to one of them before) Are you going to come back for the Melbourne Royal? Sorry -we booked it ages ago and it kind of snuck up on us - not sure either of us are ready and today has been a mad rush of bathing Scoota, buying clothes, having hair cut and packing. Neither of us are heading back to your Royal - we can never get cheap flights or accommodation because of the footy finals. Scoota will head to Brisbane at the end of the year for some R & R and we will do a trial or two while we are away - but this will be his last interstate trip. He is handing over his guernsey to Cider.
  23. Bedazzled and I fly out early tomorrow morning with the boys to compete in Melbourne on the weekend. Fingers crossed it is not bucketing down
