  1. Wow you will fly home tonight - well done to you and Em
  2. I use a reptile heat cord under the vet bed and on top of the newspaper and I can configure it to go where ever I want and the puppies are never far from a warm spot.
  3. They are both pigs so guess I was surprised at their reaction yesterday and it was the same again tonight - so will mix it in tomorrow night. Also one weighs 17kg the other 19kg so I am giving 2 1/2 scoops rather than 3 does this sound right?
  4. I started 2 of mine on it yesterday and interesting they didn't lick it off the bowls like they do Sacha's Blend. In fact, I have made a mental note that tomorrow night I will actually have to mix it into their food so I don't waste it - rather than sprinkling it on top.
  5. The LBD hit the nail on the head - the dog is gravitating to the reward. Reward with your left hand straight down the side seam of your pants
  6. OK - something to try - even though you don't appear to have a box issue and thanks to Caffy for showing me this one. The question is - does you dog know the box exercise and can it go to the box regardless of the distraction? I have taken photos of the setup. I have used 2 bar jumps but only because I was setting it up to take a photo and was too lazy to get the solid out of the car. But ideally you would use a bar jump and a solid. Its good to use a clicker for this exercise. Set both jumps level with the front of the box and butting up to the box. The idea is to start off close (3 steps away from the front of the box and directly in front) and send the dog to the box. Click if the dog goes directly to the box and ignores the jumps, and reward You can give a no reward marker (oh dear me) if the dog opts to take the jump. As the dog understands the exercise - start moving backwards away from the box 2 steps at a time until you are back from the normal distance away from the box Let me know when you have tried this one......
  7. Good news CC and good on the vet for taking the time to let you know how he was doing.
  8. A heads up - Qantas require the dogs 2 hours before the flight leaving Perth. Virgin are 90 minutes.
  9. Perth to the east coast for a 30kg combined crate and dog is $100 if they are travelling accompanied.
  10. Golly Gosh popped in here and there is a lot for me to catch up on. How is Louis doing now CC? Hopefully you have both him and your other half home and he is brighter than he was. Again you managed to pick it up early because you know him so well. sending you hugs xx Hi Emery - you did well on the weekend and I would have given you a pass mark - more than I can say for my obedience kids - or maybe I should say lack of obedience Kids My kids were always woeful in the show ring and would often run around looking up at me, but they were usually the only ones being shown - so guessing it didn't really matter. I then started getting Hannah to show them which changed the picture for them - so it was a little easier for them. For my kids they are always taught that the default is a sit in heel position. Bedazzled would be a better person to ask since Brookie was originally a show dog and turned to obedience at 11 months of age - so his default position is a stand.
  11. A heads up - start practising your three steps backwards, which is a requirement for excellent NOW!
  12. If you are sure she is not sore - then I would be leaving the jump at that height and making it fun by throwing food or balls or other toys - not a dumbbell, over the jump and telling her to "get it"
  13. Your kids are on a roll Tassie - congrats on today's passes and to be almost half way to Rory's RAE 2 WOW Had a very average day at obedience, but the kids did well this arvo in rally. Can now add RAE to the end of the occasionally clever ones name - and will now have trouble fitting his name on the entry forms This will see him bow out of rally. Cider Also won Excellent A and this was her title. Strauss gained another leg and only needs one more double pass for his title and Little Beans, working with Bedazzled also got a leg towards her RAE title.
  14. TO one of mine was 1:5 and I retested her 2 years later and she was 1:20 for distemper.
  15. There are also seminars in Brisbane and Perth
  16. and if anybody can come up with a solution to my little problem of the dog looking for the seekback in EVERY exercise I will buy you a drink
  17. Hi Leopuppy - thanks for the link and I feel your pain as I am in the same boat Can you jot down a quick list of the different things Leo has failed in a trial - it might make it a bit easier for us to come up with some exercises and it will help Kinta as well. Caffy has given me a great one for the box - but I wait until I see your list first. I might also have to set it up and take a photo - but time is very limited during the week, so it will have to wait until the weekend.
  18. I feel everybody's pain - having had to break each of the exercises down and build them back up again multiple times. Our bogey exercise is distance control - which has been consistent since we started. I only need one more but the question is when/if it will happen
  19. http://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/rose_hip_vital_canine Is this a good price for the 500G?
  20. Wow all lost dogs are found and I bet all owners are breathing a huge sigh of relief A BIG thanks to the lady who handed Jaffa into the Helena Valley vet this morning
  21. Adding to lost dogs.......Jaffa the toller took off again today during the thunderstorm - so she is missing again in the Chidlow area - if you can spread the word please.
  22. http://www.freewebs.com/antollergee/apps/videos/videos/show/2860065-scoota-jumping-trial This was a few years ago - my obedience dog doing agility. Nothing flash - but he was very reliable.
