Everytime this thread comes up my heart skips a beat. CavNrott, I have been watching your beautiful and wonderful journey with Sophie. What a stunning relationship you have with each other. Something you will carry with you for life. My heart is breaking for you as I know just how painful it is when you see the end nearing. Savour the way she cuddles up to you, the way she smells, the way she plays in the park and the way she looks into your eyes with total unconditional love. You have done so very much to ensure Sophie's quality of life is the best it can be, she couldn't ask for more. Wishing you all the best.

RIP Tex Poor baby, you didn't deserve to go that way. How terrible. Sorry for your loss. Even though the farmer did what he felt he had to do, it doesn't make the loss of Tex any less heartbreaking.

So sorry for your loss. It's absolutely heartbreaking. My thoughts are with you tonight. You did the right thing and your girl is no longer suffering. She knows how hard it was for you today, but she loves you for doing it and is right there with you in your heart, always.

RIP Darcy. What a handsome old man he was. My thoughts are with you and your family. Very dignified way to go to the bridge without you having to make any heartbreaking decisions.

My two get a small tub of yoghurt (frozen) every morning for breakfast. We live in the tropic so they love it. They get Yoplait no sugar low fat in all the flavours variety packs. I have spoken to my vet about this and they said it was fine. My old Sammy (RIP) had a flavoured yoghurt every single day 6 years with no problems.

Oh wow you do have a lot of insulin left!!! I bought mine an ampule at a time!! I hope you find someone to take it. It would be such a shame to lose the lot. There is a darling of a dog in victoria, A white shepherd by the name of Spice who is diabetic. Her story is a very very sad case of disgusting neglect by her previous 'owners'. She is in wonderful hands now with her new Mum. I'm pretty sure she is on Caninsulin. If you could contact Australia post and maybe see what they say about sending cold goods interstate. Spice was adopted by a lovely lady on this forum. Her username is Kadbury. Send her a PM and see what she thinks. Definently a worthwhile dog and owner who deserves a little help. I think where ever you put your old girls ashes she will be happy!! Especially a bit of company (couldn't hurt)

I'm pretty sure that you can't post items that need to be refridgerated. I looked into cheaper insulin for Sammt when we moved to far north Queensland. The prices up here were insane!! I used to pay $55.00 in the ACT and up here they were asking for $87.00 !!!! I looked into online vet stores etc and they didn't stock items that required refrigeration. I was most unimpressed!! It's very hard to get the ashes isn't it? I have not been back to the vets since. I called them to make an appointment for one of my other dogs and burst into tears just talking to them. BUT your girl is home now, where she belongs and that must be a great relief. I have my Sammy's ashed in a beautiful box. We move around alot so she will stay with me where ever we go.

Oh the poor baby!! My girl was a rescue that I adopted when she was 4. She died of heart failure at the age of 12 so I had 8 amazing years with her. She had diabetes for 3 years and her eyes were good. We were lucky in that respect. It sounds like you did the very best by your girl and I'm sure had the most wonderful life.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your dog. Very sad circumstances. I lost my diabetic dog at the end of April so I know how devastated you must be. Dont know anyone near Adelaide but just wanted to say that my heart goes out to you. Hopefully you will find someone to give the insulin to. Very kind offer for you to make. Maybe ring the vets and ask them if they have any other clients with diabetic dogs that would love the insulin.

Thanks for that info. I had no idea that there were different strains. My 'non infected' dog needs to have a tumour removed and the vet doesn't want to operate until she gets KC like my other one!! We didn't bother seperating them as they had been together for days after the symptoms appeared so we didnt see the point. (They were kenneled) It's frustrating as I want the op done ASAP and nearly two weeks later she has NO symptoms of KC at all. she may not get it, out of my 4 dogs only 2 of them caught it so she might be lucky they were over it in about 4 days, i just gave them infant cough mixture as it was the 2 little dogs that caught it Well thats good news cause if she gets it then there is another delay in her surgery!!

Isn't KC a respiratory infection?
-
Then why do vets perscribe A/B's if they are not required? One of my girls currently has KC (just waiting on the other one to get it) and she is on A/B's. I wont be happy if I am treating if it isn't necessary (sp) The vets told me that this is a strain that isn't covered by the vaccine!! Break outs everywhere.

Oh wow, Hello- Boki looks great!!!! Got his ashes back today- I feel at ease, as if he is home. I felt the same way when my old girls ashes came home. Doesn't make the hurt go away but it definently helps. Hope your doing ok.
