We have one and the dogs love it. Ours fits into our sliding door. You do need to screw it into the door so if you're renting that might be a small problem, however there are a couple of ways it can be fitted as per the instruction booklet. The actual door flap does sit about 20cm off the ground and ours is a large size so I guess it would depend on the size of the door you need. Our girls fly through it all the time!!! The large size fitted our large Lab, medium cattle dog and smallish Stafford.

Diabetes Diagnosis For Older Dog
baifra replied to Her Majesty Dogmad's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My old girl had diabetes and yes it was very intimidating giving injections daily. However, my dog learnt very quickly that the injection was followed by food!! In the mornings she would get up, walk up and sit in front of the fridge and bow her head ready for her insulin!! :D Dogs will adapt far quicker than the owners. If this Lady lives near the vets or a close friend or relative, maybe they could give the injections until she becomes comfortable with needles and the routine that is required living with a diabetic dog. Best of luck to her and her Poodle. -

Sometimes I don't think we give our dogs enough credit do we? They just know things. They are also so intune with our feelings that he probably knew that you were at peace to a degree aswell. What a lovely boy!! I know I was a little less heartbroken when our old girl came home to us last year when she went to the bridge. It just felt right to have her home where she belonged. Not the same for you though as I had the priviledge of being with her at the end. This you were robbed of and I hope more than anything that you find the answers you need to get through this absolute nightmare. Take care Bustam.

Old Dogs And Changing Their Living Conditions.
baifra replied to wolfhoundsrule's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Great news for you and the old fella. Sounds like he has found a woonderful home to keep warm and get lots of loving!! My old dog Sammy used to have slight urinary incontinance. She would dribble a little when sleeping. My vet gave us medication for it which stopped it immediately but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called. Maybe ask your vet during his next check up. Otherwise I had plenty of covers for her bed which we changed frequently as she was an inside dog. We also had tiles so it wasn't a major drama. Good luck with your new edition. He sounds like a gorgeous old man. -

Broken Canine Tooth - Extract Or Root Canal
baifra replied to Taipan's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My Stafford snapped her upper canine right up to the gum line. If the nerve is exposed it would be excrcuiatingly painful I would assume. And being a Stafford with generally very high tolerance for pain, he may not be showing any signs so I would get it fixed or removed ASAP. Did the vet prescribe any pain relief?
