  1. Check out Pet Sitters Australia's website. They offer overnight in your home care, or live in a carers home. They originated in Sydney but are expanding to Adelaide. I have just recently become an Adelaide carer with them after completing a pet first aid course. They are fully insured and professional. Another option is check out Happy House Sitters website and look for a house sitter. Hope this helps
  2. thanks. will do May I ask why you ask? I ask, because depending on your reason for wanting these resources, I may or may not be able to help you. i am doing a training assessment form for an assignment and need some samples to help me to create one of my own No problem - it just changes where I direct you for information. Wouldn't happen to be NDTF course, would it  There is an excellent "Student Profile Form" in Terry Ryan's "Coaching People to Train Their Dogs" - pg 385. It is also an excellent resource for anyone who is even thinking about teaching group classes or private lessons. Not so much on dog training (though there is enough), but a lot on communicating with people, class set up, etc. Also, don't forget to reference any sources that you have based "your" form on.

  6. erny - who are you to be so rude? its not cheating asking for help when you cant find an answer to help understand what a term means. i am juggling 2 courses - one is vet nursing and my brain has been ioverloaded by terminologies. do u have nothing better to do than criticise people who ask for help?? get a life!!! Pax - i have tried googling but dont seem to be having much luck with finding exactly what im looking for. i really think i need a break from all this study but have less than 2 weeks for all my assignments to be in.
  7. i am having trouble understanding these two terms, can someone please help by explaining each in plain terms and maybe giving some examples? thanks
  8. im after a cd to desensitise a dog to all the strange sounds of an airport. can anyone help?
  9. hi, anyone here a current student attending january's block session? or any current students from adelaide going to the feb sessions?
  10. i was wondering if anyone has tried this expensive dog toy as i was considering getting it for my dog but wanted some feedback on it first as it's around $300. i was thinking i could train my dog to return the balls back to the machine so it'd continuously launch the balls until she's had enough. i was also wondering if u could replace the balls with similar sized dog toy balls as she's never showed an interest in tennis balls before. what does everyone else think???
  11. hi, as a current student i am about to go to my first block session in less than 2 weeks. i was wondering if anyone on here went to any of the earlier block sessions and could let me know what exactly they did so i know what to expect?
  12. i am studying with the ndtf. precise training are involved with the course but its run by ndtf trainers. precise training are always the ones to call me when my payments are overdue ;)
  13. hi was wondering if anyone runs an online consulting business on dog behaviour or if anyones ever used one. just curious if they are any good or rubbish??
  14. it looks like the head nurse is gonna scratch my idea on having a trainer do the puppy preschool classes. im really not impressed with her and this is the final straw so i guess im looking for a new job!!!
  15. i have had a few replies from trainers who are asking around for me with their delta instructors to see if anyones interested in teahing the class for us. fingers crossed!! we usually give goodie bags when the pups graduate but ridiculously we spend a fortune on buying things to put in them. i was thinking maybe asking comanies for samples instead. ive contacted a couple for dog shampoo but was wondering what else other clinics stuff in their goodie bags??
  16. yes it is the head nurse who has said that i must do the pps classes. ive been working as a trainee nurse for a year and previously a groomer, im now undertaking the cert 3 in dog training and behaviour with ndtf but have only just started and not confident in giving advice. she cant seem to understand it. the nurse who previously did the classes is a trainee nurse too with even less formal training than me and all she did was read from the notes and do the basic dog training eg sit etc. she had no clue what she was doing and sometimes i think she may have even made stuff up. i dont want to be responsible for setting pups up for life when i have no clue what im doing!! im trying to be responsible but when you are threatened with losing your job if you dont go through with it what are you meant to do???
  17. thanks for the reply. i have tried clapping my hands. it just doesnt seem to work. i know its difficult to train against as im not there all the time but when i am with her (as shes outside)i have the clicker within reach and can click when shes still barking as she is continuous in her barking and jumps at the fence.
  18. yeh thats a great idea. actually i have contacted a few dog trainers via email asking if anyonewas interested in instructing the classes. a couple have replied saying they would discuss it with their delta instructors if anyone would be interested in doing it. hopefully i can convince the head nurse that it's a good idea.
  19. i have a problem with my dog barking constantly at our neighbours. i try to recall her but cant seem to get her attention. if i go to grab her and drag her away from the fence she runs away and keeps barking. i have found that the only way to get her attention and recall her is to click a clicker. i dont use this clicker for anything else. can you use clickers for positive punishment??? or can i use the clicker to train her to speak and when to not speak??
  20. help desperately needed or a trainee vet nurse whos just been told she needs to run the puppy preschool class for the clinic. i need some advice on how to socialise and start the pups with training etc. i am okay on giving them the puppy care advice - eg feeding, vaccinations etc. im currently involved in ndtf dog training course but have only started so feel unprepared for it. i also dont want to get into bad habits with dog training. any advice would be welcomed!
