  1. my shar pei has the same problem and i use troy fly repella as well. It works a treat. I put troy on her ears every morning before work and spray her with troy repel-x. Seems to last until i get home. She hasn't had her ears attacked for a while now. The flies are really bad here at the moment
  2. Steve is awesome!! peigirl put me onto him (thanks peigirl ) He explains everything, doesn't rush, and is always friendly. I went to him with problems with my shar pei and he was brilliant so now both dogs go to him
  3. cool thanks for that Nekhbet, i didn't realise. I remember reading about it on here but wasn't 100% on the type of tyre
  4. nero is the same, destroys every toy. he gets the rolls out of garbage bags but since i just read in the previous thread he may not get them anymore. he now has a cricket ball and that seems to holding up pretty good. As suggested coke or milk bottles with lid and ring removed. i remember reading on here before about car tyres, we haven't tried that yet. we also got him a big plastic ball from the royal show, about the size of a basketball. he can't grab it to sink his teeth into it so that has lasted a while
  5. thanks for the reply BP. I have tried the knot bones and they do last alot longer. Was just trying to get ideas of some different toys thanks
  6. Hi Off topic but whats the toughest toy you can recommend. I bought a tuffie tug toy thingy and this was what was left a few days later it was half of that again.
  7. Hey newnewf, Are you going to get it done up there or wait till your in a city? Not sure about the kimberleys but the pilbara was expensive. Cost me from memory around $350 for chev (female sharpei) she was less than 20kg and that was for sterilisation, nail clipping and microchipping. Very expensive in the north. Nero cost around $270 i think for sterilisation and microchipping (and collar) in perth and he was 23kg
  8. i was told that i could feed my dog sultanas when she was allergy diets. She ate a few boxes of them. Came in here (3 years later) and found out they are toxic. Needless to say the dogs don't get them anymore
  9. Hi No fear, Like most say, i'd be taking pup to the vet and asking all these questions. Don't bother with the pet shop I asked about the heartworm shots as my older dog is on them and my vet says you can't do it until they are 9 months of age. chevs on the shots and i like it. Nero will be on them as soon as he is old enough. With both my dogs they didn't leave the house or yard until after their last C5 shot. I use frontline on my dogs and it works well. Ticks used to be a big problem where i used to live and it was good for that but we didn't get paralysis ticks. Apparently ticks aren't as much a problem down here but fleas are so i still frontline them. I was buying through vet products direct but that priceless pets is cheaper!!! Thanks poodle wrangler!! ;) hope it helps
  10. Hi all, my shar pei was on elimination diet a couple of years ago and i was doing dog obedience. I used sultanas. She loved them. Dried apricots worked as well. I used to get the 6 pack of sultana boxes and take one to training
  11. Thanks emilee for that link. I was having a read and it answered a few questions. Thanks peigirl. I'll head over there
  12. Hi all, I know this is an old thread but i need some help. My 5 yr old shar pei has had 2 episodes of what i thought might be fsf. We moved 5 months ago and 2 months ago got another puppy, not a shar pei. In the last 6 weeks chev has had two attacks. The first she was shaking, with heavy breathing. Wouldn't move, wouldn't eat or drink. She was back to normal 12 hrs later. The second attack happened 2 days ago. Same thing, shaking, wouldn't eat or drink but she also wouldn't put her back foot down, like she was in pain. Yesterday she was better, was walking and eating a little. Today back to normal. I have had blood tests done and apparently there is something wrong with them. I didn't understand it all but the vet was saying it might be the start of that amyloidosis. i got a urine sample and now that is getting tested. Does that sound like fsf? The vet won't say it is. Is there anything they can test for that will confirm it? Is amyloidosis always linked to fsf? and is there any link to diet? I'm really stressed out at the moment. I'm worried something i did has brought this on. Any advice people can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all
