  1. Thanks for the tips Dogmad. Our first little girl was text book. This one has been more difficult! Ill perservere!
  2. Can anyone help me. I have a 15 week old male staffy who I think I have somehow managed to train to go to the toilet in the house rather than outside I did the newspaper trick except now he seems to hang on and wait to come inside to go on the newspaper. I tried putting the newspaper outside so now he comes in and wees on his bedding. He is very quick as well and I always put him straight outside but its not helping. I have a older staffy that is toilet trained and I swear she looks at me in disgust everytime he does it. Im hoping that he might learn off her but does anyone have anymore tricks? They are outside during the day and locked in the laundry at night.
  3. We feed our puppy twice daily now. Breakfast is either the puppy porridge (both him and the older one love it) vegimite on toast (when Im running late to work I cook him a bit alongside mine!) or weatbix with milk. Dinner is now supercoat with fresh dog mince (beef or chicken) and vegies and/or pasta. I just buy a bag of no name frozen vegies, heat some up in the microwave, use the warm water to soak the kibble and then mix it with the meat. I also keep some of those meat rolls in the fridge if I have a busy night and also for variety. Dogs, like people need a balanced diet with variety.
  4. I live up in a remote mining town where even today it is 30 degrees. Last summer never saw it below 40 for 3 months with the average temp something like 45. My dogs cope pretty well. I have lots and lots of water available (in the shade where they sit and on the back porch) plus like others said those clam shell pools (just remember to change the water often as they do drink out of it) Instead of locking them up at night in summer we encourage them to play as much as possible so they can relax during the day. When I first get home from work I also bring them inside to the air con for a couple of hours so they can have a cool down. We also hose them off every day as well, they love running in the sprinklers.
