  1. Yeah we stopped chasing him ages ago he just thought it was the best game ever... After today he'll be lucky if he ever gets off the lead again! it took 20mins to entice him to return the ball. The thing is he thinks everyone else's toys are so much better grr
  2. Well young Marley is a bad bad boy... he's ball obsessed so we no longer take the ball to the park. So now he just steals them!!!!!!!!! Now when he steals other doggies toys he suddenly also becomes deaf and can't hear you. He refuses to listen to me, will not return the ball and just leads you on a merry dance. Ive stuggled for up to half an hour trying to get some other dogs ball of him! Its so embarrassing! His recall in any other situation is great, he's normally well behaved. He just holds these toys at such high value and thinks its all a game. Any advice on how to beat him at his own game?

  5. I try and not get the giggles sometimes its really hard... i have one dog that comes in its a poodle x lhasa x something he's a great dog and the instructions are as follows: Poodle feet Feather duster tail Schnauzer head Bell ears Boof on top of head short around penis area the best part is it comes with a diagram.... the guy draws a picture and has arrows going to each part with those descriptions... the best part about the diagram is that is looks NOTHING like his dog NOTHING! Its looks like a ginger bread man. I love getting those pictures i have a stash of them now they always set me off into giggle-hysteria.. ahh i love those interesting clients... Poor dog though he looks HILARIOUS ... Ive tried to not make him look like a walking joke but with those instructions its impossible... On the note of short haired dogs ive had at least 4 people come in with short haired jrt wanting them clipped
  6. arugh that drives me insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT IS A POOODLE! *explodes*
  7. Don't you love that and then they abuse you because "I have family coming around tomorrow and the dogs in a state!" ...well maybe you should have sorted that out before the day before xmas?
  8. I groom in inglewood, pm me if ur interested!
  9. Thanks for the replies. My biggest issue was that the old groomer had not explained in any form to some of these owners what could happen to the coats when clipped. I dont like the look of these dogs clipped however i would prefer to clip them off then the dogs being neglected. I had to clip a rough coated collie today :p god i hate doing that, but for that very reason owner hadnt looked after her and she was beyond a mess. Ill never understand why people buy dogs they are either not willing to or incapable of caring for! We do not have paralysis ticks in WA so they cant use that as an excuse either. I have a beautiful sheltie coming in next week that they want clipped, i groomed it out a few months ago and he looked stunning, wish me luck in convincing them they dont want him clipped!!!
  10. How do you explain that to the owners? I tried to the other day when one of her old clients came in and wanted her pom clipped and the woman just didnt get it, kept telling me 'No the coats grown back like this cause he wear jackets" i was like no its cause he was clipped! arughhh its driving me insane! the old groomer clipped everything never spoke to the clients at all so now im trying to reeducate them and its really difficult.
  11. Do you guys clip these sorts of dogs coats? I was always trained to groom them out, my teacher told me that clipping them would change their coat and that they dont grow back properly. But the groomer who used to work where work gave every pom that came in a lion clip!!!!!! Ive noticed their coats have grown back strangely. What do you guys do and what advice to give to clients with these breeds of dogs? I find most of them have NO idea about caring for their dogs individual coats and have been given incorrect info in puppy class etc...
  12. i buy mine from mt hawthorn pet meat supply
  13. I work at a vet clinic and our dispensing fee is $18 edit: the dispensing fee is only for prescription drugs never for worming tablests
  14. I just had my suspicions about it from the outset, the poor dog was in the most horrendous state, i couldnt even see his face! I kept a close eye on him and when i felt he was looking like he may snap i muzzled him. Lucky i did when i got to his legs he went ferral!!!! I had a nurse hold him. And Clyde you absolutely right off the table he was such a sweet boy. He's just been neglected and not introduced to grooming correctly... also not castrated and the owner is a very strange man, the dogs ended up thinking he's king pin. I have a groomers helper too and got it from the same place when i was in Sydney, fantastic devise! I have been hurt before by a dog the owner knew to be aggressive and I let her know how upset i was, i was only new to grooming then. I ended up with injuries to my hand, i was lucky it didnt get infected otherwise i would have been in trouble. It still bothers me now as it was in the joint. Some people are very silly. I feel sorry for the dogs that react that way to grooming, I always wonder what has happened to them in the past and hope that down the track if they get used to you and your nice to them they'll turn out ok. Thanks for the replies everyone, sometimes you just need to vent!
  15. If you own a dog that you know to be aggressive, a dog thats had to be sedated for grooming... when you bring it to a new groomer (i.e. me) you should tell them!!!!!!! What really annoys me is that when he was admitted this morning and i discussed the groom with him he made no mention of the dog having any behavioral issues. This dog today seriously was a physco, had i not already been a little suspicious of it i would have been totally mauled! ARUGH and the owner when I called to talk to him about the dog just laughed and said "Yeah he's a real physco really aggressive usually have him sedated" !!!!! So not impressed and I let him know that it was very irresponsible to not inform someone of his dogs aggression issues when he's fully aware of it and I been injured it would have no been a laughing matter! He was then very apologetic etc etc still just not good enough in my books! End of vent
  16. so sad so very very sad, RIP Brodie, i'm so sorry labRADor
  17. Just wanted to say RIP to my friends cavalier Woody. He started his life at a horrible byb living in a cupboard. After her other cavalier was hit and killed by a car she went to this place and saw a beautiful frightened tricolour cavalier pup. So she adopted him. When she got married and moved to Australia of course Woody came with her. She used to visit him everyday in quarantine. When he got out of quarintine he had bad seperation anxiety so she bought him Jessie another cav to keep him company. They became the best of friends and Woody was never alone. Sadly Jessie died last year and Woodys health has been 'dodgy' for years but he just kept on. I'm really going to miss him, he was such a nice chap, I used to groom him and he was always the perfect gentleman for grooming. I hope Marley has a life as long as his not many cavs reach such an age. RIP Woody, you were such a loved little man and we're all going to miss you terribly.
  18. RIP Harvey, what a beautiful old gent you were.
  19. Lucy , i'm very sorry for your loss I can't imagine how hard this must be for you xox Lara and Marley
