Any Advice Re A Whippet With A Sprained Hip?
polomum replied to Stormy's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Stormy........I'm going to give this powder a try after reading the site SBT123 mentioned.......http://www.arthritis-cats-dogs.com/arthritis/arthritis-pain-relief.php ...........has more in it than my Nutra Life product (although the dog I'm using this for has improved almost 100% with Nutra Life - he use to howl and cry almost every morning when he moved from his bed - and now it's getting colder in the mornings and not a peep from him) - I was amazed with the change in him!!!!!! Happy googling !!!!!!!!! -

Hey Stormy.......how's all your skinny dogs?......often wonder how your iggys going - I have one of my very own these days (he's such a clown)...........joint problems are a problem - we've been told to mix grated vegys in with chicken mince to help movement for joints - high protein isn't the way to go I've been told although I've forgotten the ratio of veg to meat - we give half n half plus the fish oil and have just bought a new product that has helped heaps with arthritis pain in one of our older dogs by Nutra Life called MSM Glucosamine Chondroitin Joint Food as advised by another DOL member. I bought it over the internet so just google for the best price.....Hope Pen improves real soon!!!!!!! -
Oh.........and I thought you only had staffy type dogs Happy Birthday Ivan - that first pics a stunner (what a gorgeous boy)!!!!!!

Ears??? Could be a yeast infection!!!!! Take her off dry feed totally!!!!!! If it's ears you could try swabbing with half/half vinegar and water with a very damp sponge gently (not wet enough to run into her ears though)!

Dog With Possible 1080 (fox Bait) Poisoning?
polomum replied to Wilderblu's topic in General Dog Discussion
wilderblu .....glad to hear the dog is on the improve - I doubt the dog would still be here if it was 1080........what areas are the dogs living that have come in with similar symptoms please??? -
Ditto what -Anne- says totally..........It's a pain in the a__!!!!!!! But to do it effectively you have to redo evey 3 or 4 weeks!!!!!!
-
I'd be trying a long lunge rope (bought in saddlery stores) (like a dog lead but much, much longer) for starters and see how he settles......I've had many dogs I've fostered and all have learnt to hang around the house with my own dogs - have had a couple of whippets do runners but always came back.......it depends on the dog I think - we've had friends dogs come and stay for the day and they've all roamed with ours and been fine!!!!!!! Oh.....we are on 140 acres and the house is not close at all to the road - just keep a close eye on him for starters!!!!!!
-
Any chance you could try a soft muzzle on her until she's trained to 'leave it'??? Just a thought - or use a REALLY long lightweight lead (we use binder twine or hay string?? We have used this in the past and it's so light they don't know it's on!!!!!!! Goodluck!!!!!

I just bought 1kg chondroiten/glucosamine/MSM - the Nutra Life brand through Vitaminking.com.au delivered for $67 plus fish oil included for the same price (on special at the moment)!!!!! Hope this helps my boy - all the vet injections etc didn't work for him sadly!!!!!! Have been giving him fishoil for the last 12 months which helps alot but on cooler mornings he still cries for quite some time when he first gets up in the morning .......Thanks guys will give this a go!!!!!

I'm another one for white vinegar n water mix sprayed onto the wee - then I use a 'slurpex' (not sure they are available anymore) or an old towel and stomp the towel into the wee patch until you have an almost dryish carpet left behind ( you can do this 2 or 3 times) and then i sprinkle fairly thickly carb soda on top of the stain and leave for a couple of days and vacuum - this works........have BioZet here as well which I used as well as the above on old cat stains.........!!!!!!!! Rommi n Lewis I have also tethered a couple of older rescue dogs that were not that flash with the toilet training right next to their beds during winter and then straight out the door as soon as they wake up or I go out.........this works....just takes a while!!!!!! Naughty little turds!!!!!!

Urgent Help Required For Puppy With Parvo
polomum replied to bella_bear's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
How sad is this for such a young pup........I know there is a thread on here from a couple of years back about an italian greyhound with Parvo _I'll try my best to find it - this pup caught it on car transport (we think) between SA and NSW and it hit with a vengeance - iggys are tiny to say the least - it was very expensive to keep this little guy alive I remember - think he was on human anti cancer meds to help keep him alive as a last resort.........!!!!!!! He survived but it was a long expensive haul I remember!!!!!!! to you and your little Boston!!!!!!!! -
Awwwww........a Magnum will help to make your new intruder a 'fatty bumbah'!!!!!!! Hows her weight going??? What a booootiful wittle face she has!!!!!!
-
Ummmm could I interrupt this thread and see if everyone could just post what camera and lens maybe that they are using for these shots........??????????? Now I'll go and hide cos i struggle to post pics with my mac computer on here !!!!
