  1. Good news poochmad...it's amazing what a change in food can do isn't it? I never believed the difference it could make until I saw it with my own eyes
  2. I used Elice Moran in gwynneville a couple of times Charliesmum, she specialises in small breeds. Her number is in the yellow pages. I now groom my dogs (or try to) myself as clipping a schnauzer involves alot of personal taste I've discovered
  3. Harold, I wasn't having a go at you asking questions, I understand people have to be new to forums at some point. But you also need to understand in these kinds of thread mysterious "new" posters turn up with negative statements about a food (that perhaps they do not stock) and then disappear never to be heard from again. I am from "the world is a happy place" camp who would like to believe that there is no reason for a retailer to target a particular brand of dog food and hike the profit margin up greater than the other brands. I don't buy my Orijen from a "store" as such anyway, and find the similar pricing structure reported from different sources in this thread evidence that no one is "out to get us" with Orijen as such. I could be ridiculously incorrect, but if I am I don't want to know anyway, because it won't stop me buying it - the results are too good As others have said you have to take into account consumption, not just the price per bag. I go through my bags of orijen much slower than other bags of food, and there is less wastage, because every last drop of it is eaten. Have you chatted to your connection yet regarding the price? I would be interested to know what he can do for you for bulk buys, and how it balances out with other brands...then I guess you'll know once and for all anyway. I think for the majority of people in this thread, the price isnt a huge issue, yes its expensive, but everyone was trying it for some greater good of their pets anyway. If they were satisfied with their foods they were using previously they probably wouldnt bother switching. Poochmad: I really hope Orijen sorts out the issues you're having. It did with my boy, as an aside, he wasn't itchy but I have heard several people lately comment on Advance making their dogs scratch like mad, so you don't necessarily need Orijen to fix the scratching, any other good kibble should stop it. I wonder what is in it that has that effect? I've never tried it so can't comment.
  4. I only have a small test sample to comment on, but I have one dog who was fed on eukanuba/royal canin as a puppy so relatively low protein compared to Orijen. At just over a year old he is larger than breed standard but was large as a pup and gained his weight very gradually and hasn't grown since he was about 11 months old. I have another pup of the same breed who has been on orijen since she was 10 weeks, she is now 15 weeks and is gaining weight/size on par with the other pups from her litter that are fed supercoat. I do have small breed dogs so maybe that is an important factor, but there is no notable difference in growth rates at this point. I suppose I won't know until she is fully grown if it has made any difference, but I can't see it doing so at the moment.
  5. I was going to say something similar Danois. Its odd how people with very few posts pop up in these food threads with negative things to say ;) if you dont like the price don't buy it ;)
  6. not sure you would have to call and ask them the number is on their site.just out of curiosity if you luv barf why feed dry? Well the dry I feed is Orijen which serves both my dogs very well and they thrive on it, I didn't actually say I love barf, I said the dogs love barf patties mixed in with their dry. I think it's good for them and they eat a half/half diet, although Orijen is as close to barf in dry food form as you could get anyway. They also get raw meaty bones. One day when I have a bigger freezer I will probably try making my own barf patties and keep a larger stock of bones on hand. DR B's would be pricey to feed as a sole diet I think and the dry food keeps their teeth in check on the days they don't get bones and is much better for travelling. Curisoity satisfied?
  7. CC Barf doesn't seem to have penetrated NSW very far yet?? I know I can't get any in Wollongong, unless someone knows something I don't? In any case Dr B's suits us fine, the doggies love it mixed in with their dry and I just lift the lid off the little pod and tip it out...can't imagine how you could mess this up?
  8. Both mine are on Orijen, and loving it!
  9. Erm....we chickened out :D Maybe next week! We ran around the backyard like idiots instead!
  10. Yes I'm the same, not a fan of the wind so if it is like this in the morning we won't come, it may be ok early in the day though
  11. Sounds great...Unless the weather is totally insane, count me in I already have a collar for Maz so the reduced membership fee is rather enticing :p You will get to meet my little man 4 paws!
  12. Do you do obedience at Dapto 4 paws/valby? I was thinking of switching to there now we've moved to port kembla my wollongong obedience membership expired so it would be a good time to switch. Someone mentioned there was a few schnauzers who did obedience down that way. Is there a special new members day or do you just rock up?
  13. I bought the Andis 2 speeds a few months ago and I'm really happy with them. I've never clipped before and I find them simple enough to use...what isn't simple is getting a schnauzer clip correct
  14. Good Luck poocow and Darcy Am sending solid thoughts your way
  15. Ian, I really think you're underestimating some people here...many people have jumped to their own defence after your post and I don't blame them. I think there is very few posters in this thread that didn't already know about/were using Orijen. It wasn't a case where the post has appeared and then everyone has rushed out to jump on a mythical bandwagon. Why shouldn't they share their satisfaction? As you wisely said...if it aint broke dont fix it. But what if it IS broken? I didn't find out about Orijen on here or through any advertising. I had gone from food to food and had a pup who was still pooing 4-6 times a day and had a dull coat, I tried EP holistic because I thought it was the best that was available and surely it would help...still didn't though...so I did some fairly basic net research and found Orijen, coincidentally a supplier lives in the same city as me and that was that. Many people who have posted here seem to have commented on some problem that Orijen has overcome...I don't really believe that if they were thrilled with what they were feeding they would have bothered trying it in the first place. By the same token, if I stop getting results from Orijen I will continue my search, but in the meantime there is NOTHING that would make me even look sideways at another brand after what I've experienced after using it with my dogs I respect the intention of your post...and definitely agree that you should feed whatever your dogs do well on...but just because there are a few people who by using this theory have ended up trying a food that's new to the australian market, and have then decided to share their excitement about finding the food that is right for their dogs...doesn't make us a bunch of mindless advertising-susceptible zombies... I stand by my statement that if the majority of people here were wrapped with whatever they were previously feeding, they probably wouldn't bother randomly changing to a new brand...they were obviously trying to improve something :D
  16. They are identical in size ness....and shape too for that matter
  17. Ha, can I join this clan??? Lola my MS is 11 weeks old and does the exact same thing. OH gets up at 6.30 and takes her to the toilet but getting her back to sleep for that 1 extra hour is hard work...especially with her 1 year old brother in the room too, it's one up all up and is a very big challenge! 7.30 am is the maximum sleep in we've had since we got her BUT she doesn't wee in the house, that's why she wakes us and she DOES sleep through the night, so you have to take the positives. If it's any consolation they grow out of it...and they get over it alot quicker if you make firm rules and stick to them. For me it requires holding my pup on the bed and a low growl and a firm BED command until she stops trying to jump on her brother and wake him up! It takes 10 mins sometimes for her to go back to sleep but she's getting better. Mazza (my 1yo) used to do it to, they are just excited to play with their humans each day...around 4 or 5 months though he used to take himself to the toilet and then come in and go back to sleep until we got up. You should join us in the schnauzer subforum raviel
  18. Would love to know if Mr Fusspot likes this poocow...I'm betting yes You'll have to post and let us all know, this thread is like a mini fan club :D It's really quite economical too when you look at the smaller amounts of it you need to feed.
  19. Mazza has a very sensitive tum, I'm always super careful when changing him over to a new food but he took to this with absolutely no problems, the only changes were positive ones.
  20. I get mine off 4 paws...not sure if she delivers to Sydney?? I think from memory she does though. I've noticed some other websites are starting to offer it too...google it and see how you go. Did you use a trial pack Shell? They don't have the quantities on the back...chances are you were feeding too much, you need much less of it than any other food I've come across. E.g., my 11 kg 1 year old needs a max of 3/4 cup each day, EP holistic was a 1 and 1/4 cups. Maybe zero had lots of energy to burn off :D
  21. While you're there valby try the tuna treats...dogs go mental for them! It's my one stop shop for all my pups treats and dry....now if only they had barf patties too, I would never walk into a pet shop again...except for toys that is :D
  22. Don't know the website Blues and Boots but google dog food project...Orijen is a 6 star food, EP holistic is a 4 star. I changed over because I was having trouble getting EP all the time, and even though it is supposed to be wonderful, I just wasn't seeing results that I hoped for. I just thought in the end that my dog had a dull coat and that was that...how wrong I was, he looks like an oil slick now he is show shiny and toned and happy! It happened in less than a week of changing over, truly remarkable. Definitely worth a try.
  23. In stock when you're ready This food is fantastic I had her on half half all day yesterday (supercoat/orijen) and there was NO smellies! All my dreams are coming true Will email you re my order!!
  24. My boy thrives on Orijen and I was one who switched from eaglepack holistic. I feed less of the orijen and enjoy the small less frequent black solid poops in the yard! My new pup is on supercoat (as she was on that at her breeders) I bought the tiniest bag of it I could find and am about to change her over to orijen puppy. I have great hopes it will fix the insane amount of poops and gas she has! She is tiny and can clear a room
